I LOVE what little I experienced of Canada's Laurentian Shield. You have found just about the greatest setting on the You Tube outdoor video genre! Nanook is a real pro: in another video, he 'hit his mark' just right in the camera frame, and shook himself and you got a 'once in a lifetime' shower picture of a dog drying off! In this one, the colors were so saturated...and the experiences brought back memories of some of my 'Thousand Islands' camp days.
Very nice job for your first video, i would have never guessed it was your first one. i've found that the secret to camera issues is more cameras! keep em coming!
Great video. Came here from Joe's channel. That last place you found was an excellent find. I run across old Indian sleeping circles and such on occasion. It's nice to sit there and think about the people who were there before. Basically doing the exact same thing you were. I think I'm gonna love this channel. Thanks for sharing.
Joe Robinet guided me over here. What an amazing video. I see you put a lot of effort into making this. The old camp at the end was very cool. Must have been very special to stay there......Take care, Bluefin.
Joe sent me over here from your catfish outing which was another great day. Great video and I look forward to more. Beautiful dog and I really loved watching him steal those fish, sneaky little guy!!
Honestly, what a dream to be able to live like that. The end, where you found the Indian camp, I could imagine then swimming in that same water fall years ago. Great ending to the video.
We have quit a few Native American markers where I live. I go the the oldest church, west of the Alleghenies. Shawnee Run Baptist Church. In the books, it says we are the 6th, but we were founded when we were in Virginia. The Shawnee were here when we were established. Could not count the fish I have cleaned on my paddles. Great video.
Saw you first on Joes video at your home camp. Nothing better than exploring new places, what a great find with that camp. So funny watching your dog waiting until you walked away and taking the fish. Really looking forward to seeing what you come out with next. Cheers!
Just awesome! Thanks for the video, man. It was a pleasure to watch. I'm two weeks out from a canoe trip to the BWCA in northern Minnesota along the Canadian border. Watching this made me jealous. I can't wait to see more videos from you.
Wow great video! cool dog and good eats and lots of black flies, you must be in my neck of the woods. I'm a subscriber. You taught Joe how to catch catfish now teach him to catch trout. (lol) Thanks for sharing.
Joe posted on FB and I had to check it out. Great video thanks for posting. Can't wait to see more of you and your dogs adventures. Thought it was cute the dog stealing your fish...LOL. I subbed so I don't miss a thing. Keep on keepin' on buddy!!
Awesome video! Was directed here by Joe like many others. Subbed and if this video is any indication your channel will a great one. Appreciate the effort all of you take to film and edit these videos. Cheers!
Hi Clint. Just watched your collaboration vlog on Joe Robinet's channel and really liked it so I came over to yours and now watching all your vid's. Sure like your channel. Just sub'd and look forward to your adventures!
Survival Lilly It's one of my favourite areas. Just the odd curious black bear. I haven't encountered one yet that I or the dogs haven't been able to chase away haha
Zold Outdoors i hear bears are related to dogs perhaps this is why they dont run off did you hear of that polar bear used to come into churchill and play and frolick with the huskies they used to play fight frolick back with the polar bear!!!!!
Yes of cse they are related to wolves but then what are wolves related too? but have you ever heard of dogs being on same canus family tree as bears there are a lot of similarities between canines and bears on the biology tree or darwinian evolutionary tree so the experts say!! I am just passing it on Dont shoot the messenger!! If you have got an issue with it shoot the experts!!
barry beatty i actually believe in creationist theory & that god made all of creation i do not think that mankind quite knows categorically the assocs of the different genus in species only god knows what comes from what i mean if a banana has 78% dna of a human being then god could make every different species on earth by just cleverly manipulating the same dna!!! we are only 4% away from being a giraffe!!! so if you correctly state that dogs are related to wolves the most wildest natural form of their genus then what? or where? & how? did the first ever wolves on earth develop from?! what other animals were they related to before they became an fully evolved species? it could have that far back in time been the early primitive bear type species! that it evolved from if what the geeks say is actually true or holds any evolutionary weight viability who knows? myself and you werent there? i used to have a lovely sheepdog collie type from a farm his lineage was superb but in uk they measure their wild lineages in 12ths for dogs species that are related to the wolf in law no person may own a domesticated dog more than 7 parts 7x - 12ths wolf a wolf being a score of 12 a malamute comes high on score so does a collie sheepdog the way they are uniquely intelligent and been used to round up sheep shows a very wild strain in its make ups still exists to this day but bears do sometimes look and act like big dogs n visa versas theyve both got tremendously developed senses of smell nasal cavities to detect scent have paws fur walk on all fours are highly social animals a bear is omniverous my dog used to eat greens aswell as meat wasnt averse to most things a wolverine is another interesting species that has an unusual lineages
Awesome video! Thanks to Joe for opening the door to your channel! Those bugs though! Do you just deal with it or what would you recommend taking as far as repellent and other gear to help with them? Planning a weekend outing soon and I know they will be thick. Thanks and keep it up!
Awesome. I would definitely recommend a full bug net shirt with a wide brimmed hat instead of the head net you see in the video. That, with some deep woods off or muskol that you can rub into your skin. I've grown accustomed to the flies so I don't react as badly as most. Enjoy your trip!
+ZoldOutdoors I don't know my bugs/Flys as best I should. not sure if the Flys are as bad in central Illinois, but I'll pack for the worst and find out. :)
Hey I just noticed for the first time tat you LIVE in N. Ontario - camp, I mean. The cabin I mentioned was about 50 K N/E/W/S of Lake Paudash. Small world man. Keep up the good vids I've been watching for an hour...subbed too. Stay well. (Nice dogs!)
Tip!! Catnip..the plant, live works 10 x better than Deet!(the active ingredient in fly-dope. Get a plant, alive, stick some sprigs in yer hat and/or necklace it...you will be astounded.
inspiring my friend I'm planning a solo (sans the beautiful white wolf) to Algonquin park with my 16' Kevlar this summer. Got a 115L Eureka, was that the 80? Love the kettle Hang, may ditch my propane setup. great vid
This waterway might be my favourite place in the world. I've since travelled its whole length and the river it feeds many times. Always a special trip.
Oh I am still thinking about that one... I'm up near Joe in Ontario. My grandfather ran a lodge in northern ontario and is the reason I know the north so well. Thanks for watching!
ZoldOutdoors I trip a lot up North. What's the ballpark? You don't have to tell me the names of the lakes or anything LOL. If I were you, I'd be headed back just for that one fish :)
+The Wooded Beardsman I'll be back there soon enough, he was a good 3 or 4 pounder from what I could see. Let's just say north east, I could show you some places if you swear to secrecy haha
ZoldOutdoors I can't ask you for that! I'm a die hard brookie fisher, seriously die hard. I can't turn down if you want to share and I never, ever, publicly disclose locations. Love the scenery and you put a lot of effort into your shots. Very well done video. Looking forward to the next ones. Keep in touch man, fire me an email through the contacts (hit my "about" on my YT), maybe we will cross paths.
Great video. Those bugs were driving me crazy, just watching you. I can't imagine what it was like to have to deal with them. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Looking forward to more. P.S. Joe sent me too. :)
Brought here by your pal Joe. Couple questions if you have the time. What type of fat are you cooking your fish in? How does bringing the dog along affect pack weight, I'm assuming you have extra food available for when he/she? isn't stealing your fish. Btw best part of the vid, my kids rolled on the floor and made me rewind it a "bajillion thousand" times.
I usually use lard for any sort of frying. I've actually even used it in my coffee to cut the bitterness and get an extra calorie boost when I'm working hard in the bush. The problem with the dog is the bulkiness of the food. There are a number of freeze-dried options out there though that pack small and light. If I know I am going to be catching a surplus of fish, or hunting season is open, I bring less dog (and human) food. Glad your kids enjoyed the video!
Kablamo88 Thanks! A bug net helps but the best bet is to get some bug repellent with the highest DEET content you can find. Spray it on your hands and massage it into your skin.
The dog stealing the fish was hilarious!
Buddy! wanderlust!!!!!!!!!
Great job :)
Thanks pal!
Ahhhhh ha ha ha he stole your fish. Brilliant sneaky dog. Brilliant video my friend can't wait for more
Awesome video. Great dog as well. Little thief.

Hi Clint. Just watched your collaboration vlog on Joe Robinet's channel and really liked it so I came over to yours and now watching all your vid's. Sure like your channel. Just sub'd and look forward to your adventures!
awesome area? are there grizzlies around?
Survival Lilly It's one of my favourite areas. Just the odd curious black bear. I haven't encountered one yet that I or the dogs haven't been able to chase away haha

barry beatty i actually believe in creationist theory & that god made all of creation i do not think that mankind quite knows categorically the assocs of the different genus in species only god knows what comes from what i mean if a banana has 78% dna of a human being then god could make every different species on earth by just cleverly manipulating the same dna!!! we are only 4% away from being a giraffe!!!
so if you correctly state that dogs are related to wolves the most wildest natural form of their genus then what? or where? & how? did the first ever wolves on earth develop from?! what other animals were they related to before they became an fully evolved species?
it could have that far back in time been the early primitive bear type species! that it evolved from if what the geeks say is actually true or holds any evolutionary weight viability who knows?
myself and you werent there?
i used to have a lovely sheepdog collie type from a farm his lineage was superb but in uk they measure their wild lineages in 12ths for dogs species that are related to the wolf in law no person may own a domesticated dog more than 7 parts 7x - 12ths wolf a wolf being a score of 12
a malamute comes high on score
so does a collie sheepdog
the way they are uniquely intelligent and been used to round up sheep shows a very wild strain in its make ups still exists to this day
but bears do sometimes look and act like big dogs n visa versas theyve both got tremendously developed senses of smell nasal cavities to detect scent
have paws fur walk on all fours
are highly social animals
a bear is omniverous
my dog used to eat greens aswell as meat wasnt averse to most things
a wolverine is another interesting species
that has an unusual lineages
I like your trip and your video, awesome plase. My kind of trip ;)
Awesome video! Thanks to Joe for opening the door to your channel!

This waterway might be my favourite place in the world. I've since travelled its whole length and the river it feeds many times. Always a special trip.
Where did you start your trip? I live not far from Elk Lake and the area looks very familiar. :)
yes, like most of the comments, superb!
Dude, gotta subscribe. I know it's been ages since you've made a new vid but I live in hope.
Joe sent me over. Whereabouts are you located? That first fish....man ugh, that one hurts :)
Oh I am still thinking about that one... I'm up near Joe in Ontario. My grandfather ran a lodge in northern ontario and is the reason I know the north so well. Thanks for watching!

Beautiful video ...do you have a purifier for water or do you just boil
Nice spec are there any other species in that crik
great video man! planning to do one of these trips this spring. How do you deal with all those black flies??
Kablamo88 Thanks! A bug net helps but the best bet is to get some bug repellent with the highest DEET content you can find. Spray it on your hands and massage it into your skin.
The deet isn't exactly healthy but the poison from the black flies can make you pretty sick if you get too many bites.
