If it's already common knowledge that Ryu was needed to hell, why is everyone giving Daigo crap for losing? If both players are around the same skill level, the better character will win every time. That's doubly true for a Ryu vs Akuma match up, especially since Akuma has always been good.
Have to be defensive against tokido. Especially against his ground game where he picks you off with little jab into a roundhouse into uppercut. He does these things that require precision and lands them 99% of the time. I tried it and can only land it 1% so I gave up.

I've played all Street Fighter games and yes,they did slow this one down. It's not as bad as you think. They slowed it down to hype the climactic moments but it's still fast enough to leave a competitive arena. It's a better game overall

This is super late, and I'm not too sure of the actual reasoning myself. But, I'll give you my personal thoughts on the matter. A) The DP nerf: This nerf hit everyone who had an invincible DP, he happened to be a part of that. Main problem was people could disrespect your pressure into CA for 40-50% like nothing. B) S1, Ryu was a god among men. His normals were super good and safe. He has his Hadouken, had an invincible DP, projectile invul move, super fast dash and decent walk speed, great damage. To be frank, as an "All-Around." character, he excelled far too much in everything compared to the others of his playstyle.
tokido wins because he is better than daigo many people said ryu in SFV in season 2 not good like season one thats why daigo lose but dont forget, tokido practice with akuma in SFV only 1 month and he won that match thats why TOKIDO BETTER THAN DAIGO!!!
Yet he lost first to 10 this year and cried after the match and also admind that daigo is the best and that he want to surpass him...for fuck sake sfv was made beginner friendly daigo cannot even use all his skill like in sf4 and not saying that because i like daigo cuz i am a fan of tokido but still daigo is the beast

If only they'd chosen a proper stage instead of the boring ass Training Stage. This match felt like it was about both characters just as much as it was about both players. I think Daigo could've been more aggressive. Letting Tokido get comfortable led him to losing.
Ryu does no damage now, you get very little reward for outsmarting your opponent now, he should play great wall of cheese head Guile instead, but that makes you look like a try-hard

You gotta start from the beginning of street fighter games. Than you'll know the huge difference between than and now.
It's not about knowing the supers or general moves but the strategy. knowing your opponents next move!

He was playing reactive on purpose. He doesn't take online seriously, he said so himself, he plays online for trying new strategies.

they chose the training stage cause it has less poly's. makes the framerate a bit faster than most busy stages.
They're a wuss if they use training stage. No argument is ever going to change that for me.
