I was about 9-10 years old when this first aired on Channel 4. I used to beg my mum and dad to let me stay up late on a Friday night to watch this and Beavis and Butthead. Good times!
well i hate to get deep and philosophical on yer, but we are all youtubers, and what i mean by that is that the BBC might seen like a big organisation, but when it started it was some blokes (and hot chicks) who made some films and animations and wanted to share them, i'm an artist, and i have to remind everyone they are artists to, you, the bloke on the bus sitting next to you, everyone, just somee people don't bother, other don't believe they can do it, but, thay's where the BBC and youtube came from, people who weren't bright enough to realise "they can't do it". you have a youtube channel, make a film. go on.
@@HarryNicNicholas I wouldn’t call random funny gameplay snippets I save to show my pals a ‘film’. I did however make a shitty film in College for my filmcraft and animation course where I managed to convince the team to use barbie dolls as the actors in a similar vein to Adam and Joe’s old skits. But I can’t say I’ve never had the urge to make a film, or a sketch show, or something like that. Me and my cousin’s actually used to make parody radio segments using some of our old toys, was pretty fun.
Haha! I used to love the Star Wars bits in these. Brings back fond memories of Friday night in my early twenties, living alone for the first time. That Spaced was also on Friday nights in the late 90s/early 2000s was even better! I can still remember the lyrics to the Star Trek song they did. So nostalgic seeing stuff from this era, back when the Internet was in its relative infancy and TV was much more relevant that it is now.
Staaaaar Trek, The Next Generation, beloved through every nation, it is my favourite show, I've seen every episode... Jean Luc Picard is stern but hard, he has to be cause he's in chaaaaarge!! (from memory, apologies for any misremembered lyrics there) - I used to sing that all the time in my early 20s! Need to go listen to The Firm - Star Trekkin right after... I think my all-time favourite Adam & Joe song is probably Bobby DeNiro though!!
It's a Lad Thing. Seriously the adverts are comedy gold haha. Love that one guy who's just thinking about a slowly rotating burger in the Worthingtons ad
"It is mindless to announce that your head has almost been shaved by a Jumbo Jet; and as a consequence you're feeling a bit heavy metal. The whole amusement as far as he is concerned, is that it is very daring to come near to being decapitated by a Jumbo Jet, which is flying where it ought not to be!" As a Blur fan, I find this brilliant lol. Love you Bad Dad RIP. You're greatly missed, but you still live on through the talents of your son, keeping us all entertained XXX
Watching that opening sketch feels like I'm remembering something I saw 20 years ago and questioning whether it actually happened WHILE IT'S HAPPENING.
Grew up with these shows. Really felt like they were made for me. Also...grew up with a keyboard that played that precise fucking Wham melody when you pressed a big orange button. I remember a friend came and stayed for a week or so, and kept pressing the button over and over again, because he thought it was funny, but my family must have came close to murdering him.
@@Oialca lol There was an ad for the 1998 film _US Marshall's_ which was a follow-up to the 1993 movie _The Fugitive_ . The former was a bit pants compared to the latter. But I know that when you made the comment about checking out _US Marshall's_ you were having a laugh because this was back in 1998. Or more specifically, _The Adam & Joe_ recording was from 1998.
Adam + Joe devotees - I’m a dedicated listener of the Elis and John XFM Podcast and they’re big A+J fans, I also like Adam’s podcast and I’m convinced I’ll love A+J. Is there anything in particular I should start with? Do I just go straight into the podcasts from the start?
The A&J Show is very different to the podcast. If you like soft toys doing naughty things, dad being posh and 2 young blokes being silly then this is the show for you. Adams podcast is amusing is a grown up kid kind of way. My advice would be start with the TV series like the rest of us did. S1 is epic.

Amazing. You've even got the adverts aired during this performance. True nostalgia
what is weird is how the music from bittersweet symphony is in the first ad played
These guys were like youtubers before youtube was a thing.
i know it is kinda randomly asking but do anybody know of a good site to stream new tv shows online ?
@Tomas Scott I watch on Flixzone. You can find it on google :)

“Do you want me to break that over your head”
“As long as you pay for it”
LOL
The sketch show that basically predicted the majority of home UA-cam videos
Amazing show, it still holds up incredibly well.
The ads were bad then, but seem like masterpieces today.
Every advert looked like it was directed by Michael Bay. Epic adverts back then
Life was so much easier back then.
This show and ch4 at the time... An awakening to to the absurd.
Baaad Dad reviews Bittersweet Symphony right before the ad that features it lol
incorrect, the advert sampled the sample that the verve stole which was an instrumental version of a rolling stones tune.
God I used to adore this show. Wish we had something like this nowadays.
reminds me of some videos by TGF
barratts and beretta back the medium days
Looking back it's like Adult Swim before Adult Swim. The Adam & Joe Show was always a good watch when I was a teen.
Oh sweet the infamous ‘you break it you pay for it skit,’ heard about this on the Adam Buxton podcast. Nice upload maaan
Yes, They cringe at that now. You can see Joe that Joe is not very comfortable!!!
Eeeesh
You are the man for finding this and uploading it.
Watching that opening sketch feels like I'm remembering something I saw 20 years ago and questioning whether it actually happened WHILE IT'S HAPPENING.
The musical reviews by Adam's dad are spot on
"Here we have a monumentally unattractive young man." Bad Dad certainly had a way with words. I loved these shows then, I love these shows now.
RIP Mr Buxton and AKA Baaaad Dad…legend
Ahh happy days. The internet truly changed everything
Used to love this, Vids, bits and some other stuff on C4. Anyone remember the guy propping his eyes open with match sticks before the advert break?
Remember that epside of The Other Side where Alan Moore talked about the folklore of Northampton?
Vids!!!
Bits!! Oh god Emily booth *drools*
Vids deserves to be far more well known.
that ad "Tin Planet, the new album from Space" was like an Adam and Joe skit
😂 haha it was!
Love it, bro! Thanks for posting it! You Da Man!
Ball ball ball, footy footy footy. Ball ball ball, ball ball!
Classic tune. Still randomly sing the songs from A&J 😂

Amazing to see the songs of the day. Especially radiohead - love bad dads snipe at their 6 form lyrics hah
Nice one man. Great to see this again.
Came for the Adam & Joe show stayed for the adverts
They should bring these back.
I've got one of those little white toilets. It's on a shelf in my bathroom. 🙂🚽
Whenever did this use to be on? When the pubs were shutting? Adam Buxton's Dad is actually exactly like me listening to Absolute 90s!
Yep, was that sort of time
Blast from the past thank you!

@7:36, Adam invents the Oddly satisfying video genre
Friday nights on channel 4 were excellent. Especially as a youngster
ty so funny show back in the day
Oh god, if baaad daaad thought song 2 was that bad imagine how he'd react to current mainstream music!
Love this, old adverts are cool too
Also must check out U.S. Marshall’s at some point
Doesn't hold a candle to the 1993 version of _The Fugitive_ .
@@HovisSteve I wrote this comment over a year ago, it’s lost all meaning and context in my head... any idea what I was talking about?

The Verve, Radiohead and Blur. Pretty good week for new releases.
nutters :P, i remember all those adverts
at 5:30 i can believe nowadays, but in the 90s that was a massive VHS CAMCORDER on someones shoulder.
What don’t you believe though? They’re not hiding the camera. The passer by grabs it a couple of minutes later.
Yes I had one thought I was the bee’s knees
I used to secretly watch this with my friend we never understood it at all
