  • In this video, you’re gonna be on the boat with me for 2 full hours! This is an experimental video to allow you all to see the full experience of how my POV looks like when it’s fishing time.
    Right off the bat, I’m going to give timed descriptions on when the action started, so you all won’t get bored with times where there’s no fish being caught. Starting with:
    *Minute - 34:10 is the first fish caught.
    *Minute - 37:10 is the first Crappie Caught.
    After the first Crappie, about an average of 2-4 minutes there was one Crappie after another caught, with a few moments in between where I’m flapping my gums.
    *Hour - 1:30 was the last of consistent fish being caught.
    *Hour - 1:47 through 1:52 two small fish were caught. After that, no other fish was caught towards the end of the video.
    Please do leave a comment if this kind of video is something you all like to watch, for it is the first time I’ve ever done this, and may be the only time, because of how hard it was to do so much editing on my phone to get the clips out together. It’s wild, because of all of this being done in my iPhone, the challenges I had to endure getting this video together, and clearing apps to make GB space to put this video together without interruptions. (One day I’ll invest in a good computer or laptop and do all my videos from there, instead of from my iPhone).
    Back to the fishing side of things: I went with what I’ve fished with the most when it comes to jigs. A simple Walmart eagle claw jighead and Bobby garlands. All the fish I caught at the beginning of the video was from the Mayfly color. There was a couple times I tried the threadfin color, too. The jig size is 1/32 ounce. (The water was too cold for fish to bite off a 1/16 ounce jighead. The quickness to work that size of jig wouldn’t have matched how quick the crappie bite was). 4 pound test line made by Sufix. Bass Pro Shops brand Dough Bait Ultra-lite rod and reel that’s a 5:3:1 gear ratio.
    It’s unfortunately not an uncut video, because of my batteries dying and having to put new GoPro batteries in to keep the video going. But! In terms of all the moments in between battery changes were missed, it was only 30 seconds at most missing with nothing important happening. So don’t worry about missing out on any crazy action I might’ve had that didn’t get caught on camera!
    Thank you all so much that have Subacribed to my channel, and especially A HUGE THANK YOU to those that have commented in my videos outreaching to me about whatever’s on their mind or just simply reacting to my videos in general. I’m so thankful that I’m almost at 300 subscribers, and it couldn’t be that way without you all! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! I’ll be sure to have much more content to come y’all’s way this year. Here’s to a cheerful and hopefully awesome 2024!! 🤘🏼👽🤘🏼

    I’ve Crappie fished for over 60 years. If you’d nose that boat up in those limbs and tie off to one and fish straight down you’d do much better. You’re not gonna scare them off!! Done it a thousand times. Many times I’ve been idling around and thumped a big stump, restarted the motor, turned around and fished the stump and would catch one or more nice crappie.

      I did briefly thought about that after I got into that pile of crappie. Only reason I didn’t do it was because of how clear that water was. I was too afraid to spook them just by them seeing me. But one thing I agree with you is the motor noise doesn’t really affect their bite. They hear boats go by all the time. To them, it’s almost natural to hear boat noises, so they aren’t as skittish about that than other fish would be.
      Thanks for watching, by the way! Hope you’ve been safe and warm amongst all these winter storms and clippers coming through. 🤙🏼

    I love this. My Tenn. kinsman called these fish "crappies", but here inSouth Georgia, we always called 'em "specks" (short for speckled perch). They get in the 2lb class down here.

      My hope is you read in my description all of the time stamps of when I caught the fish to avoid any time you didn’t want to waste listening to me talk in the long moments I wasn’t catching fish. Nevertheless, thank you for your time watching my video. Maybe some of my shorter fishing videos will suit to your liking better. 🤙🏼

    Why so many excuses to keep what you catch as long as it's legal? People are gonna ridicule others who catch fish when they're not anyways. Nice vid👍🏿

    • @CrappieKev
      @CrappieKev  8 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for the positive vibes bud! Yeah, some people complain when a fisherman culls crappie and other fish, despite that it’s perfectly legal to do so here. I don’t really worry about what people have to say that’s negative, when nothing wrong has been done. I keep fish past a certain length, just for my own sake of peace of mind. To each is their own, as long as it’s legal (like you said) is my philosophy. Thanks again for watching bud! 🤙🏼

    Slightly bend your hook up to help with sticking them.

      Oh believe me, that’s exactly what I do anytime I’m fishing with jigs and underspins. I already had these jigs on from the last fishing trip, so I never bothered to mention about how I bend my hooks. Lol. Thanks for watching my video bud!! 🤙🏼

    I've watched quite a "few" of Crappie Video's. And "none" and no one, has flat out lied to us. I sat through the whole thing, waiting on you to start snatching them in. And unless I "blinked" to quick, and missed it. Ma Man, you never even got a "NIBBLE"!!! So I have written your You Tube name down on my pad. To make sure I don't waste my time again. I was raised with this saying by my Mother,,,, I can't stand a Thief, or a "Liar"!!! And you, are actually "both," you stole my time, because you "LIED" about your Intro Title. Good Luck,,,,🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️🤣🤣🤣🤣

      Well bud, I guess you better check again, because you missed ‘em. I even have in the description of the times I caught fish. If you didn’t see any fish I caught in this video, I feel sorry for you.

    Hey brother I live in Harrogate Tennessee myself and fish Norris and Cherokee lake quite often and the powell river side but have never been on the clinch side I was born and raised in South Georgia and was wondering if you could tell me a decent boat ramp to put in in Knoxville area to catch crappie I wouldn’t ask for specific places to catch fish just a few pointers as to where to begin thanks for the great videos and have a blessed day

    • @CrappieKev
      @CrappieKev  8 місяців тому

      Thanks for checking my videos out, friend!
      So, for the Knoxville area closest to Harrogate (HARROGATE IS A BEAUTIFUL PEACE OF WIDE OPEN COUNTRY SIDE, BTW), I would think of trying out Big Ridge State Park at Norris Lake. This time of the year, the Crappie will be in super deep structures, following the shad that’s in that lake around the Big Ridge Dam. The reason I don’t fish that area much is because of how super clear the water is. It is extremely difficult to find the right approach to catch them without spooking them. Their eyesight is phenomenal!
      Going into the Knoxville area closest to you, I’d give Bull Run Creek a try. It runs from Mayndardville all the way to the lower end of Bull Run Fossil Plant. Even as cold as it is now, you can find a few deep pockets that holds crappie around structures as well.
      There are many creeks that holds shallow water Crappie when the sun is out this time of the year as well. The warmest part of any water will be in the afternoon where the suns been shining at the most, pulling the bait fish into those waters. You find the bait, you find the Crappie! 🤙🏼

    what kinda rod is that?

    • @CrappieKev
      @CrappieKev  7 місяців тому

      It’s a Bass Pro Shops ‘Dough Bait’ 6 ft rod, ultra lite, fast action. The rod and reel combo was cheap when I bought it. It only costed $30. But it’s actually a decent working fishing rod and reel for the price! 🤙🏼

    Man if you ever want to fish the upper end of the clinch up towards Tazewell let me know. I don’t mind one bit to fish with ya. Or I could show you a Crappie spot or two in Powell Valley.

    • @CrappieKev
      @CrappieKev  7 місяців тому

      Sounds like a good plan bud! I’m about to start fishing Norris lake again now that the weathers getting a little warmer than average. My hope is the crappie will start to migrate towards the shallow area again like they did last year, and catch the heck out of them feeding off shallow water shad. Thanks for watching my video bud! 🤙🏼

      @@CrappieKev I mainly fish the area around Powell Valley Marina. I haven’t fished any further south than that. But I’ve caught some very good crappie in that area.

    You should bring a magnet and go magnet fishing. I know the perfect spot to do that in and it's not far from you.

      I probably could have for sure. But I got in a time crunch and started to get in a hurry when I really wanted to try out another spot up the creek channel I knew held really good fish beforehand. I should’ve just stayed in that one spot in hindsight, but that’s fishing for ya. That was a cold but fun day of fishing time. Thanks for checking my video out bud! 🤙🏼
