I think one of my favorite things about DD that gets overlooked is how it's one of the few games that gets npc companions right. They're not complete jobbers that only exist to draw fire away from you nor are they completely broken to the point where you can get them to do most of the work for you. They're weaker than you sure but they're just the right amount of agressive and can be a threat if built properly. But more importantly is how they'll actually help you in meaningful ways, wether it's by healing you, grabbing enemies for you to wail on or wailing on enemies you grapple, taunt enemies away from you, saving you from enemy pins, giving you advice about monster weaknesses if they have the knowledge (even if it does get annoying after a while). There are actual moments in the game that make me go YEAH TEAMWORK even though I'm just playing with NPCs.
I discovered this game a couple of weeks ago and by playing it i was sooo surprised by it's quality (for a game published in 2012) and how i never really saw anyone talking about this title, and also seeing this video published in the same period i discovered it's a fantastic coincidence. I personally think skyrim is overrated. The magic isn't fun, no idea where to go to find fun quests, there's so many useless items. I tried to play it for a while but only found enjoyment of just slaughtering everything in sight. Including the npcs...
It's a friggin shame that Skyrim's release completely eclipsed this game and most people didn't find out about it until maybe around DA or maybe it's PC release. I'm deadass surprised that Capcom pushed this game for so long, giving it ports to every damn system out now and even making an (awful) anime. They need to hurry with the sequel though.

Man this makes me want to get back into Dragon's Dogma. The early game is painful but GOD I want that hype mid-late game
I consider the early game the hardest part, in the mid game you start to surpass most things and then is stomped again in the abyss and the bitter black Isle
This video is a trip down memory lane for me. Actually got the game downloading as I type.
I remember my best ever pawn, a warrior named Brutus. Dude was an absolute beast, and tossed around all of the bosses, including the dlc ones. Get another warrior pawn and he's unstoppable lol. One time they managed to hit two arc of deliverances at the same time on a dragon. Poor dragon lol.
So hyped for Dragons Dogma 2!
everyone who enjoys monster hunter should give a try to this game, i started to play MH because of DD, i was looking to games with similar combat

I fuckinf love how cinematic this game is at time, straight up in gameplay the camera will change to a more broad view of you scaling some monster and stabbing them, and it makes it look and feel amazing
The slow-mo too
DD2 in development brings me unbelieveable joy. I hope they kick it out of the park with DD2. I have such fond memories of DD1, I didn't know how to kick out pawns initially, so I had that one healer you get early game and used that man up until the Gregory fight. Good times.

Fucking hell, this literally looks like the best game ever made.
This video glorifies it quite a bit. But if you're willing to put in some hard work, it pays off
The start feels so long lmao
Have watched some long reviews and read stuff online and there are definitly major problems.
What I get from most gameplay I have seen is that the beginning is pretty boring but once you are in endgame and really OP it's way too easy...
Still not sure if I want to give Dark Arisen a try, but I will probably wait for the leaked 2nd title (leaked as part of the ransomeware attack, I believe)
@@damianwozniak3946 If you're OP then Dark Arisen is exactly what you need. You can become OP again in DA, but it's a serious level up in the depths of Bitterblack.
@@damianwozniak3946 DA fixes a lot of issues with the base game. Fleshes out others and even can up the difficulty if you find things too easy.
Still, Dragon's Dogma is a game with an extremely sluggish start, can feel grindy at times, and yet it can feel extremely rewarding when you pull off something impressive. Like jumping on the back of a Cyclops and stabbing it repeatedly in the face. Managing to kill it. Or nuke a flying Griffin out of the air and watching it crash land right at your feet and a Pawn stabs and kills it.
Yeah. The game has its issues but they aren't as many as...oh...Skyrim.
This game have such a wonderful and big fanbase even being underrated all those years. It hurts not have a sequel.
Aren't they making one already?
In 3 years I think

I have rarely had such a fun time fighting big bosses as in dragons dogma. Being able to hold onto enemies is really cool and it helps damaging specific body parts

I have it on steam, and I have beaten it at LEAST 20 times, I still play it though because it's fun af lol.
@@sandyfyffe6849 The problem (but also a strength) is the lack of coop. It's a strenght because of the pawn mechanic, but when I recommend this game to my friends no one looks interested bc i'm not able to play with them to convince them.
@@MrTigershark11 I hope in DD2 they make it so you can co op, and at least play as a pawn or something, the lack of co op is a huge failure that a lot of games have, that would really boost the gameplay if they had it.

also the fact that you can make any npc in the game your waifu/husbando if you give them enough gift and attention.
wanna cuck the king and also romance his jester? you can do that.
The game goes so hard that even character customization has a meta! That’s right a thing in any other game that would be just for looks in this game has hidden status changes.
Don't forget the Berserk reference they had in the original game.
@@someonerandom8594 the whole game is a berserk reference even after the copyright thing ran out. You could have the berserk soundtrack playing in the background at any point in this game and it would fit.

Nope.
It's because Capcom didn't had the rights to use the song for Dark Arisen.
I guess they didn't want to spend the money on the license.
If they had multiplayer support for this game, oohh imagine the absolute FUN. Taking down monsters, going into dungeons and exploring together. This game is exactly what everyone wanted in a fantasy game, and we only got 20% of what it was originally going to be. Even then, it's such a masterclass in the genre.

@@Naarii14 maybe Dark Souls for enemy design and encounters, but the moveset and the overall combat possibilities of Dragon Dogma are untouched by rpgs
Please make a video on the expansion Dark Arisen.
Also sorry if my english is a bit broken but it's not my main language :)
I love this game, I return to it at least once every year. It deserves a sequel for sure.
No it really needs to have all the stuff they cut from the game put back in.
I played it in 2016 before skyrim, and loved every second of it. Got so deeply delved into side activity that i could not remember where i got off the main quest.
This game has been one of my Favorite since it was created.

Ah yes i remembered buying this game a few years ago on steam, thinking it is a easy rpg like skyrim. One day, i decided to finally try it, got defeated multiple times by early bandits encounter and i haven't touched it until now. Never underestimate every encounter.

Bruh fighting ogres in small caves and pathways scares the hell out of me when I was low level... now when I'm at maxed level, Bitterblack Isle is now my nightmare
Dragon's Dogma is one of the best combat systems I have ever played to date. My Pawn was a Sorcerer and protecting him while he wound up that massive tornado then just stepping back and watching him annihilate everything. Mwah! No I have not played any Souls games or Elden Ring etc. I cannot wait for the second game. Hopefully they take the combat and make it even better than before!

I just checked it out, and for anyone who might be interested, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen is on sale 70% off on Steam right now. Get it while it's hot.

2:49 Adrenaline rushed my body. Astalos theme is just so cool.
If only people were picky with their games like they are now when this game came out... they would of known this out classes skyrim
Yeah, I hadn't even heard of Dragon's Dogma until I met my boyfriend about three years ago. He introduced it to me, cuz he has it on the 360.
