This is a video talking about a Great Everyday Watch - the Seiko Premier Kinetic Perpetual - SNP005 Auto Relay. Reference # 7048-0AA0. This watch is packed with lots of cool features, and in my opinion, could be a candidate as your everyday watch because of the things it brings to the table.
The watch uses the Calibre 7D56. This movement is sort of a hybrid between a mechanical, and a quartz watch. It uses the hand movements and accuracy of a quartz watch, but uses a mechanical rotor to charge the battery. The dial is 40mm, case thickness of 12mm, with a lug to lug width of 47.6mm. The Lug width is 20mm. The minute and hour sword hands really compliments the presentation and the aesthetic of a dress watch when paired with a leather and watch deployment strap.
There are quite a few cool features that make this watch special and standout. There are 2 subdials, with the date window at the 12 o’clock. One of the subdials shows the hour hand in 24 hour clock, and the other subdial shows what month the watch is currently set at. A special feature of this watch is that it tracks each year, and will change the date for every leap year. Once you set this watch, you wouldn’t have to adjust the dates ever again until the year 2100.
A special feature about this watch is it’s ability to go in and out of a hibernation mode. If you don’t wear the watch for 24 hours, the watch stops running to conserve energy. It then uses the power of the battery to keep time internally. Once you move the rotor and start up the watch again, the hour, minute and second hands will move back into the correct time. I’ve had this watch in hibernation mode for a few years once, and when I turned it back on, it still had the correct time.
All in all, this is a great watch for someone that wants to have a one watch collection.
