I've seen these for the t6 ranger. But in states they don't have them for rangers. I wonder if the tailgate on t6 and USA ranger pre 2011 is close enough in size. I suppose if needed I could drill a hole and put bolt through if it doesn't line up perfectly with the factory bolts.
Ha, no it wasn't in the instructions but I think it's to keep the drop cable out of the way so it doesn't get trapped when you close the tailgate. I've just bought another two so that I can have one on each side, I'll do another video and hopefully use the springs this time 😁👍

How did you loosen the colour-coded T50 bolt on the tailgate so easily? The one on my XLT wont budge at all - just about stripped it trying, feels like its stuck in place.
Well, it's definately a T50 because I've just checked I bought a socket rather than a screwdriver and it was just a case of cracking the paint with a jerky movement. Once that was done it unscrewed fine Andy.
No, this is just one strut and has been installed and working for over a year. I have however just bought 2 more and am going to fit them both, replacing the old one at the same time. I have always thought 2 would be better than one. I'll post the video over the next couple of weeks

In Australia I found a supplier than makes them, (not a cheaper Asian copy) and the kit has a fixed bolt top and bottom so no clips to lose or split pins to break. Plus they supply a stick-on rubber to ensure the cable is not pushed out into the tray gap when closed. Check out grunt4x4 in Australia for yours.
I think these things are a waste of time, I've had seven or so trucks over 30 years and the standard tailgate has never been a problem. This is just marketing, creating a solution for something that wasn't a problem.
