Red Bull Stratos is a mission to the edge of space that will try to surpass human limits that have existed for more than 50 years. Supported by a team of experts, Felix Baumgartner will undertake a stratospheric balloon flight to more than 120,000 feet / 36,576 meters and make a record-breaking freefall jump in the attempt to become the first man to break the speed of sound in freefall (an estimated 690 miles / 1,110 kilometers per hour), while delivering valuable data for medical and scientific advancement.

Actually it does, a lot of Scientists have said that by him doing this they can make better pressure suits. He's tested them to their full length. No he didn't cure cancer. But he's helping other men and women that are up in space. That should count for something. Just because someone didn't cure cancer doesn't mean that their efforts should go unnoticed. There are different ways of helping people you know.

Felix, you're my HERO! & Joe Kittinger! I watched all of the mission - it was amazing! Loved the salut before Felix jumped & the whole mission. Can't believe it's over - hope, though, that Felix'll - sooner or later - return! :) There're still things to jump from. xD PS. I watched it LIVE, but it stopped at the same point as here. But was the conference actually finished, or was it the 30 mins gone that they were talkng about at the start?
