Interesting fact about the Christopher Nolan movie Dunkirk is that during filming they were shooting a scene of a crash landing and the plane unintentionally sunk deep into the ocean with an IMAX camera attached to it (of course) After divers went down and retrieved the camera they were able to restore the footage without any defects whatsoever due to it having been shot on film. If it were digital the footage would've been destroyed and lost. At least according to the cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema.
love the dedication to film, your grandkids will appreciate this footage in 30+ years thats for sure! These memories are why film makes so much sense to me in this ever increasing digital world. keep up the good work buddy!
Thanks for your comment. Ya iv been looking at some of my old film some of it is 30+ years and still looks very good compared to the video counterpart. Long live film !!!
@@allensphotographyvideo Im a fan of film photography. It just has a better look to it and frankly Its tangible you have something in your hands that you created. Its not some digital image on some harddrive.
Good to see someone shooting in 16mm. I own an Eclair NPR 16mm, does your guy in California make batteries for the NPR, and can you share his contact info? Thanks!
What a great clip! I'm interested in a Filmo for outdoor documentaries. Are they as tough as they look? Is the loading straight forward as well? Do you know anyone in the US that sells them too? I'm in Australia and they are a rarity here. Thanks again.
I just bought a Filmo here in Australia, check ebay theres loads of options. Just make sure to check with the owner that they work properly. My Filmo 70 DA works perfectly and if you look up how to load a 16mm camera, its simple as. Load in darkness, follow the film path, connect to take up spool.
@@sotocinematics That's good news . I tried Russian 16mm cameras without success - this was for outdoors too. I should have gone looked at a Filmo earlier. Cheers.
@@janthorpe9144 Just keep in mind that the Filmo generally uses only 100ft spools and is a more amateur type camera. More professional models like the Arriflex are better for feature length productions.
Allen's Photography & Video awesome thanks, one other question on my CP-16 when I adjust the eye piece it tilts the frame guide. Does your camera have this same problem?
@@allensphotographyvideo Oh, from the scenery it looks like you are in Utah, and I knew there was an "Allen's" that sold equipment in Utah...the stuff you shot looks good!
Ну почему, ну почему в 90-х и 00-х не было не какой движухи по теме кинокамер?! Как же было убого снимать на это проклятое WHS .... Сейчас уже поздно заниматься этим!
What a beautiful camera.

@@janthorpe9144 No problem! By the way, they will almost certainly never break, they are built like tanks. Perfect for outdoor use.

on your CP-16 are you able to swap lenses? Or is it fixed on to the camera?
Its the the cp 16Aso no it is fixed the cp16 R has interchangeable lens

@@legoguy830 not that i have noticed.
If you use a 100' daylight spool in the cp16 magazine, is it noisy?
Not too bad magazine is felt lined so that helps
@@allensphotographyvideo If someone wanted to do run & gun filmmaking with 400' daylight spools, would it be quiet enough to record sync sound?
@@mailjamesthomas yes it is
