How are you supposed to soak up the juices with flatbread? Best recipe I've ever had is simple, just fresh mussels, butter, garlic, a chopped shallot, chopped parsley & white wine. Cook mussels until opened & serve with some nice, fresh sourdough bread to soak up the juices.
I just made this recipe but used sour dough instead of the flat bread. Perfect for soaking up the delicious juice and bits of bacon great recommendation!
Just made this recipe today for lunch; turned out absolutely delicious! I used white wine instead of dry Sherry. Also I used fresh sourdough beard to dip in the juices instead of the saffron flat bread, (I’ll be making the flatbread next time). Great recipe! when you get down to it not nearly as expensive to make as you might think. Since I had most of these ingredients on hand and I’m only including the amount of money proportionately to what I used I was probably about $20 in total
i make flat bread or (naan) like every other day ... you not suppose to leave in unattended or it will burn.. you have to keep rotating the naan so that it wont burn
Charred bits add flavor, the same attitude is often seen with Latinos whenever Gordon intentionally chars a tortilla. They scream that it's burnt, but they don't realize it adds a flavor profile. Like a margherita pizza.
I just tried steamed mussels for the first time yesterday and I am in love and it was a bucket with tons of mussels in a broth with a side of bread for about $20
Sometimes at work I'll be cleaning bags of mussels and find some that are open, and I'll give them a squeeze and check to see if they retract and close themselves up. They probably had a person de-beard and rinse the mussels right before shooting the video.
As previously stated, that’s absolutely fine. If you take a mussel that is open and tap it sharply on the pan, if it closes up it’s still alive and okay to eat 👍
When I see saffron in the recipe I say “ no thanks, that will double my grocery budget for the week.” I’ve added it to dishes before and it was a good add. But that price…. Nope. I’d rather make a mortgage payment .
Hello sir... We are from tamil nadu in india. My 2 kids are your Fan's both are watching fox life channel only for your program's 😊 you're all program's is amazing❤
I got a feeling that when he films that they had to reshoot some scenes because of a mishap which means the muscles have already been cooked on the First take
Muscles will occasionally open and close before cooking because they're alive. They naturally pop open when you cook them if they aren't dead already but it's okay if they open before that. If your muscles are open prior to cooking tap them against the table/pan or something, if they're alive still they'll close after that.
I thought that muscle's were supposed to be closed when you start to cook them, and then discard any that didn't open after cooking. Looks to me that many were open when he starts 🤔
That doesn’t mean anything… if a mussel is open just tap in a few times and if it closes back it’s good to eat… also if the mussel stays closed after it’s cooked it’s not safe to eat
to cook this without wine and in a halal way you can simply use sliced up chicken and a mix of vinegar and lemon juice, trust me it tastes amazing espically the chicken

You should think about opening a restaurant?
You crazy man, couldn't find a bigger vessel to cook those ?
Mussels were already died..... come on Gordon 🤦♂️
Dead *

@@costinvaly1 The’ mussels died already. Thanks scooter

The instructions on the mussels I bought said steam for 10 minutes! WAY too long. Like this cooking time of 4 - 5 minutes much more.
Looking for a recipe to cook the mussels I have. After the first 3 seconds, discovered I don't have any of these ingredients..... O_O
Can anyone see what type of cookware he is using?
le creuset maybe?
@@loganp786 looks like a Creuset
We not gon act like That boy final dash of the flour to the dough wasn’t clean tho
What happens if you eat a mussel that's open before you steam them. I don't want to find out.
I bought 2 lbs of mussel meat without the shell today.

sometimes while cleaning they open up a bit it happens. ideally though yeah they go in the pot closed and come out open
Maybe it happened cause he had to do a retake and the muscles were already cooked?
Good, but I still wish he would scream at me, or at least scream at somebody during the course of this recipe.
Pancetta??? Wtf
Ramsay.. ma va cac... :D
bet he probably gets 4-5 servings at his restaurant with that amount of mussels at $30+ a piece each easy...
Some of the mussels are opened when he first put them in. I don’t trust this

I wonder who cleans up after you?
45 seconds to steam
Isn't Saffron super expensive?
Yes
giet manmaw
More expensive per kilo than pure heroin or cocaine.
