    Yes! I understood instantly in German my name is. No fumbling to translate from English to German. I understood instantly. I skip around with others with numbers and letters and colors, but to understand instantly those three words of introduction, my first understood tiny sentence coming automatically is a breakthrough for me. I understood the order, the tense, I’m even able to say it. Not bad for only three weeks. Sounds tiny but it’s big for me. It took months to learn how to introduce one’s name in French and Spanish but catching on quicker in German.

    It would be helpful to know where the pronunciation choice of each speaker is coming from. I've been learning elsewhere that the pronunciation of the first few letters, in American English, are closer to "Ahh, Beh, Seh, Deh Eh, Ehf, Ghee", but I'm hearing long (American) syllables in each of these and much closer to what we're familiar with (except for the "hard" ghee sound).

    Hallo! Firstly lots of love from INDIA and a very big THANKYOU, for you've been helping a lot of people who really wish to learn German and trust me you've been making it as easy as one can!
    Aber, ich habe eine Bitte: When do we say the 'R' from the epiglottis and when specifically not ? z.B. rot, Brot, rauchen, Bruder, sprechen (from epiglottis, I simply learnt this from watching a lotttt of your videos, by just observing your pronounciation) und Tochter, Mutter, Vater, (just general like English and not from the epiglottis). However, what about the other words : Richtig, schrecklich, tragen,brauchen, treffen? What about them? How does one identify in which words 'R' is to be pronounced from the epiglottis and which don't? Any tips? :( I really really am looking forward to your help!!:):) Vielen Dank!

    • @yourgermanteacher
      @yourgermanteacher  4 місяці тому +1

      Hi 👋
      In Germany "r" as first letter of a word or in the middle is rather a soft sound that doesn't involve the epiglottis much. In Switzerland you might hear "r" pronounced a bit harder with somewhat more involvement of the epiglottis. When "r" is at the end of a word it didn't involve and epiglottis at all. Maybe this video here also helps a bit.

    Hello, for the letter C the sound is written as "tseh" but in the example word you gave which was "computer" it was as if you pronounced it as k sound. I am a little confused, was it actually "tseh" sound or was there an exception for that word? Thank you.

    • @yourgermanteacher
      @yourgermanteacher  Рік тому +2

      Hi 👋
      This video is basically meant to teach the pronunciation of single letters... The examples are just to give you an idea how those letters actually sound in a word. So there is a difference between the pronunciation of a single letter when you spell a word letter by letter and the pronunciation of the same letter when you pronounce a while word. In a word the letter "c" mostly pronounced like "k" when in words when cooked by a vowel.
      We have another video which is about letter combinations which focuses on pronunciation of while words.

    Habt ihr ein Video über den Unterschied zwischen ,,ss" und ,,ß" und wenn man jeder benutzen soll? zB: Ich hatte früher gelernt, man schreibt "daß" aber heute schreibt man ,,dass". Für mich ist das neu. Schreibt man heute ,,Strasse" oder ,,Straße"? Und noch eins: ,,Muß ich etwas blah blah" oder ,,Muss ich...?" Sie klingen noch gleich, oder? Was sind eigentlich die Regeln dazu? Das wäre ein interessantes Video, glaube ich.

      Ja, das ist ein schwieriges Thema.
      Leider haben wir noch kein Video dazu.
      Sehr kurz erklärt ist es so:
      Wenn der Vokal vor dem "ss/ß" kurz/schnell gesprochen wird, benutzt man "ss" z.B. "muss" . Und wenn er lang/langsam gesprochen wird benutzt man "ß" z.B. Spaß. Der Unterschied ist meiner Meinung nach sehr klein und viele Muttersprachler sind sich bei diesem Thema auch nicht sicher und machen viele Fehler. 😂🤭
      In der Schweiz ist es ganz einfach, dort gibt es kein "ß" . 😂
      🙂🙏🇩🇪
