Bosch Tassimo Coffee maker teardown. What's inside a Tassimo coffee machine? Lets find out! If you like my videos, and want to see more, support me on Patreon / spiderelectron
Thanks for this video. My friend got given a coffee machine but the person dropped it when they handed it over. We have been trying to piece it back together and this video helped us fix it! Wholesome afternoon had by all.
Nice! Through this video, I figured out that the internal magnet had become detached so the external magnet - the disc in the tank - could not convey to the internal mechanism that there was sufficient water. Fabulous! I feel like a genius - thanks to you! (Better yet, as a 60-something woman, I impressed my all-male household!)
My Vivy 2 is used a lot in my house and the service descale light comes on about every 6 weeks (my lodger is a coffee addict!). I live in an area with soft water and have never had any limescale build up in my kettle. My theory is there is no sensor that measures build up of dirt (unless it uses the flow meter readings and detects it is moving slower than expected?), I think the descale light comes on after a certain number of servings. Just wondered whether you agree. I think I only need to descale every 3-4 months not every 6 weeks, and can just use the service disk run the descale cycle with water only.
Useful video thanks. My machine is having intermittent problems with the barcode reader. I think it’s actually slightly fogged up on the inside. It looks like there are two torque screws to remove the lens part from the front of the sensor once you get it out from the head. I might strip it and try to clean it up before junking the machine. Having said that a lot of these are pretty cheap on special offer at less than £40
I was disappointed you didn't teardown the water feed into the pod. There's a frother something there which gets blocked apparently so the froth fades over time.
Old video but there's so little imo info on these. What's the assembly opposite the barcode reader that supplies the water to the pod. My tas1000 model has another spot where a hose would connect to but I think it's an overpressure relief.
I was wondering if you had still shot of the innards? I have a water leak when it pumps water... through the backsplash😳 just curious if that is where one of the hoses connects?
Mate you missed a button.......looking from the front upper left on the black chassis. And it must be a safety on operating process but it also makes the device not usable when you open it . I need some help with that if anyone knows. Thanks
My barcode reader lens is cracked / crazed, but does still work just. Wonder if I can pop out the clear plastic and replace it with a fresh piece of clear plastic?....
*I suppose there is a way to bypass the stupid circuitry, connect the pump to the on/off switch and reuse pods at will without barcodes - just time your brew manually.*
Well you could, but why would you re-use a pod? They don;t have much flavout left in them the second time - and the machine won't stop you using a pod any number of times. If you're refilling the pod, or making new pods, you need to seal it - the process needs the pressure to build up inside the pod. Why not just shove a barcode on the new label?
+Adam Zey As far as I can tell, it boils the water in the heater and only pumps when it's hot enough, then there is a simple rubber valve and the coffee pod itself forms part of the pressure valve. I could be wrong though.
great video, i stumbled across it trying to see how to put the ribbon cable back in to the PCB? but it doesnt show refitting... i cant get it to stay in the slot..(ooeerr mrs!)
Hello did ever get ribbon cable back on? I'm having trouble trying to get it to secure back in place. I think the locking black tab has broken off. Arrrh
If it’s similar to on some mobile phones you have to pivot a little black latch to take the grip off the ribbon. You could possibly pull it out without unlatching it but there’s no way to reinsert the ribbon. Try flicking over the latch with a screwdriver reinserting the ribbon and pushing the latch backdown to secure the connection
Fantastic video. My Bosch Tassimo has just packed in. I know this is a long shot but @spiderelectron do you have a working control board? All else in my machine seems ok. I have power to be controller board but no LEDs on and no action....
@@Spiderelectron ok, thanks for your response. It was a long shot.....Any comments re what the problem might be? I have AC power to the controller and the solenoid, heater etc are ok. The cover microswitch is held closed with a cable tie. None of the LEDs are on. Is this an unfixable problem on the controller, and i should just scrap the machine?
+Vagelis Gameplays Yes there are sites that sell tassimo spares. I had a look through my box of bits but I don't seem to have the board from the teardown machine anymore. Which country are you in?
Hello. I need help. I have a defective diode. I know only the border color is purple and brown. Can you tell me what the diode is required. I can send you a photo
It's likely to be a fault in the wiring and/or the power board, either way it needs an experienced technician to find and repair the fault. Was the fuse blown do you know?

Glad you liked it! I still have one of these machines and use it all the time :-) although, Ihave to say I've aged a bit since I made that video!

Great - good skills!

Yes - I'd totally agree with that.
@@Spiderelectron thanks, I will save on the tablets (probably only need to descale twice a year down here)

I didn't have much luck cleaning the barcode reader on my machine - but it's a worthwhile exetrcise anyway. Not much to loose if it goes wrong :-)
The heater and pump were of most interest to me, shame you didn't dig into those, otherwise great video :)
Thank you so much for sharing this video, really informative
Find it, its just a switch that is activated when you close the port with the capsule. Thanks.
Cool 👍 Thanks 😉

@@HomeChurchScotland *the barcodes have a set time of brewing, if you want a shorter shot time for espresso for example, then you need it on manual*
How does it do the pressurized steam that it uses for foam? Presumably there's more going on than just heating the water?

@@alanwardle6083 I would suspect the main 'dropper' capacitor - the big one behind the heatsink you can see at 7:36 - worth a shot.
@@Spiderelectron mmmm. have measured this on my multimeter, and seems ok at 633 nF
cool
