You can buy the proper shape stainless steel tamper for the refillable pods. The tamper presses down the coffee more evenly. Do no exceed the max fill line or the pod will burst as the coffee expands with hot water. There are also various sizes available. 60, 180, 200, 220ml barcoded lids.

Think about it, why would you want to tamp it down to then turn it over to put it in the machine. It makes no sense buying a tampa, Don't waste your money on a useless product when you can just use the back of the measuring spoon.

    1. The pods can be recycled Tassimo offer this service.
    2. The barcode is the size not the pod (you can pickup other size lids no need to hold button for extra water)
    3. I wouldn't rate any of the coffee in the pods as quality (people have low standards gotten to used to the likes of Starbucks)
    4. Hot choc and teas are fine to use in these (milk as well)
    5. You can get filters as well which do help with some drinks
    6. You dont pack it to max for one cup of coffee.
    7. Holding the button adds more water not more coffee that is as pointed out before controlled by barcode (this is why pg pods do the same)

I too love my reusable tassimo coffee pod, But I prefer to use paper filters, Not only does it make it easier to clean but personally I think it gives a better cup of coffee, Do not be conned into buying all the different size pods available I personally bought two, but they are both the same, The only thing that is different is the barcode on top, which you can just take off of one of your throwaway pods to get the volume that you require.

I'd say tamping coffee down is better than not just remember to not overfill with coffee and think of coffees expansion when water gets in and mixes with coffee
You don't want your coffee loose as water doesn't linger enough to produce a strong mug of coffee so you slow down the water by tamping coffee down

  • @Spiceyspiney

I bought one of these pods last week. I use the gold spoon that came with it to push the coffee down. I am still finding it tastes weaker than with a French press so I don't add any additional water to it afterwards. I have only used it a few times but I do think it would be better with the proper tamper that doesn't come with the kit. I over-filled it one day last week and the pod burst open and it made a big mess!

    • @Spiceyspiney
      @Spiceyspiney Рік тому

@@Gollammeister I bought the proper tamper separately and it's made a huge difference to how the coffee tastes. It's now pretty much exactly like you get from a premade pod. If the coffee isn't tamped down properly the water doesn't flow through it in the same way and you get a weak flavour. You definitely need the proper tamper

My only issue is the amount programmed into the bar code. I use 12 oz Tassimo pods, and the larges I have found in reusables is 220 ml, 7.43 oz, so I generally run it through twice. My pod takes around 1 tablespoon, and the coffee is great.

  • @npmaylesby

I have just got one of these with the tamper. It works as you have demonstrated, and you cannot complain about that. However, a genuine Tassimo pod creates a creamy crema on top, which is very desirable, I wonder what needs to be done to get a crema?

What an excellent question, I hadn't given that a thought but I don't see why I couldn't put my Marvel powder into the machine Although it's usually mixed with cold water I don't see why it wouldn't work.
