There's so many things to break down in the video here's some theories *Not mine* Witt is in the exhibit titled "The Artist". The other pieces of art all have the same frames, and a black canvas, labelled with things such as "drug" and "false idols". Mark's exhibit is unique and in the centre of the room - therefore it should be the most obvious and attract the most attention, but the other exhibits (conventions of mainstream mumble rap) attract far more attention even though they are black, suggesting that they are far less interesting and that the audience don't even see it as interesting, but are brainwashed to favour it over meaningful music. They also all stand up straight and face a wall, yet again implying that they are brainwashed. Witt sings the lyrics "something I can't explain" as we see a man vacantly stare at one of the black canvases, suggesting that Witt finds it frustrating how people favour mindless mainstream conventions over his purposeful music. At 0:46 the "The Artist" plaque resembles a microphone next to his tank (from a side view) and the light from the ceiling shines down on Witt like a stage light - these suggest that Witt is under performance. At 0:56 the camera zooms in through a frame to Witt in his tank - suggesting that if the people were to look past the distractions of mainstream conventions and use their mind, they would see his art - but they can't, because the dominance of the mainstream conventions obscure Witt from being seen/noticed. Witt can see that everyone is mindless for buying into the mainstream, but they can't see it themselves. A suited man (perhaps representing conformity, conglomerates who profit from the mindlessness or more likely, the mainstream media) guides the woman to a black canvas and coaxes her into buying into the "art". He tugs his suit as he walks off and completely ignores Witt's tank, implying that he will not profit as much from it and that the mainstream art is orientated around profit. At 1:28 the music changes tone and begins to sound more hopeful as another suited man approaches. This man appears to represent the music industry - Witt now has a chance to impress him. Witt tells the "music industry" that "feels like I'm on a hamster wheel" (he is putting in enormous effort and getting nowhere) and that he's "stupid for following dreams". Witt proceeds to rap the rest of the verse including lines such as "instead you're just hurdling sheep" - the mainstream rap industry just repeats and produces the same content over and over. During the verse starting at 1:58, there are barely any shots of Witt singing the song. The verse is mostly him thrashing about in the water. This verse may be a reference to mumble rap because "you can barely make out what he's saying". Compared to the rest of the song, this verse could be considered to have less meaning and be more difficult to understand because it is rapped so fast. Once Witt finishes this verse, he now has the attention of the audience - the spotlight has now moved from the tank to a location with nothing in it, perhaps implying that Witt is now not unique after the "mumble rap" verse. Witt appears dumbfounded that the audience liked the verse compared to the other meaningful lyrics he previously used. At 2:35, Witt looks directly at the camera as he says "The more that I please 'em the less that I'm me". In theatre, this is known as "breaking the fourth wall". It is a technique used for the character in the play to become aware of their fictional nature, suggesting that Witt is aware that he is just an act; what the people want to see. At 2:42 when Witt says "do they hate the art or do they really hate me?" we see the man who I believe stands for the music industry in the shot with Witt - this is Witt questioning their motives for not signing his unique art, but signing mumble rap to profit. At 3:20 the camera aims up at the tank Witt was in. There was no lid preventing him from climbing out - he just didn't see it because he was distracted by what was around him - perhaps a reference to the concept of conformity. He did not think to "think outside the box" - he was in a literal box. The box he was in is also commonly used for magic tricks. Magic tricks are illusions and "not real" if you like, which could be another reference to mainstream conventions and how "drugs" and "false idols" aren't real, instead being constructed images to appeal to a mainstream audience. Now that Witt it outside the confines of his performance box and speaking to individual members of the audience, they do not recognise him again, implying that they were only interested in the mumbled part of his performance. The drowned version of Witt may represent the end of his facade (when he was performing for the audience) and his realisation of that being the case. One of the members of his audience stands in the spotlight which Witt was in at the beginning of the video, suggesting that the mainstream Witt stares at his drowned self at the end. He is separated from it with the steel of the tank, perhaps implying that the version of him in the tank was his temptation to conform to what he knew would make money and that after introspectively viewing himself, he realised it was not who he was and that temptation died off. -Tom Hodgetts
@@joeseity5 he disses a couple people in that song. He mentions how Kanye told Taylor Swift to stop winning awards. He says he can take Harry Styles girlfriend at the time, Taylor Swift, from him. He disses Young Thug for trying to get famous off of Lil Wayne's "The Carter" albums. He disses his dad for being drunk all the time and he says his grandma isnt worth shit. And finally he disses a couple rappers for stealing his sound
ive been listening to witts music for a long time he always puts so much feeling and emotions into it. The man really needs to be heard to me hes one of the best out there man. And i just started watching your vids i love your commentary on his vids and how you help explain stuff for ppl man keep up love the channel!

Syl Bormans Flamingo, self made, self taught, doozy, UA-cam rapper, FBI, code red... those are just some of my favorites but in my opinion all his music is just crazy
Witt Lowry is independent and has come a long way and is playing in Lollapalooza this summer all being independent. Witt's piece of mind series is inspired from Hopsins ill mind series. If you want a turn up song from Witt do Numb if you want another song like this do piece of mind 3
I would love for you to look up a bit of the back story behind the music video aswell, because me and a few others of the #TEAMWITT community have been taking the time to kind of deconstruct the music videos of POM 4 and HURT because they are really deep when you're aware of the details and everything that's being shown means something. I'd love to explain some of the points to you because the way Witt does this makes him something special aswell
I've never heard of this dude before but I can tell dude has been put the work in. You can listen to an artist means every word they say. You can feel it. You don't have to have been through the same stuff as a person to feel their pain. We may not know exactly what they are feeling, but you can tell by the passion and emotion that what they felt was real.
This is my first time hearing Witt, damn he is good. I just think that how big of a collab it would be, if you would put him and NF on the same song... 🤔
I think he’s talking about.... The artist put in all the work... But the industry reaps the financial benefit.... The artist only get the fame🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️ and he is losing his self

He has 4 editions of Piece of Mind, 1 and 2 he sort of talks about his early rap high school days where he got bullied but still prevailed above the rest, POM3 was more about how disgusted he is with how the rap game is and how society is, POM4 is the same subject as POM3, but about himself, how hard he tries because he’s independent and the mind and soul he puts into his music
Maybe you could react to Numb, Piece of Mind 3, and Tried to Be Nice on video. Like a triple threat or three strikes type deal. Idk if you’ll ever be able to Trash Witt though. Crazy talented artist

This whole song is a diss on the music industry, all the blank painting are the industry and in the middle hes doing the most and not getting attention
The concept of this video is he is stuck in the tank and the tank is his state in the music industry and nobody is looking at him in the tank but staring at black pictures which symbolize the other fake rappers in the industry getting all the attention and Witt symbolizes the real rappers and grinders that never get what they deserve and just stop creating art.
The message to this music video is about how the haters and people who dislike him pressure him and the water tank shows that he is drowning in all the hate people give him and another meaning is the people are looking at other art and the art is black because it is fake and BS. Then they start looking at him and that shows people noticing him and seeing the message he is trying to give to us and the world. That was what i think the song is based on. :)
