What's needed to run 35" tires on your jeep jk

- To run 35" tires on a JK, you have to account for the clearance needed inside the fender, the extra clearance needed for wheel up-travel when offroad, the larger brakes you might want to stop the heavier larger rotational mass, the gearing ratio you're running, the computer value for tire size, the sag that a heavier tire carrier and tire will cause to your rear springs, the stress on your ball and u-joints, not to mention the backspacing you'll need.
This was literally everything I needed to know in less than 5 minutes. Thank you 🙏🏾
After months of researching this stuff, your video summed it all up in less than 5 minutes!! This was so informative, concise, and all inclusive. Thank you!!
Looks awesome! Even better with that Mjolnir!
I put cold air in take on my ram megaflow exhaust took. 200 lbs of weight truck did not need I gained 18 hp I was fine cost 750 all in good vidio my 99 ram 5.2 now 245 hp cheers 🍻 from Canada 🇨🇦
Great video!
Cool...I have the same rear bumper....pretty HD thing...already hit a few things with "not a scratch ".....
That's awesome Matthew. I'm loving mine too. Rugged! Not liking my red rock tire carrier as much though. Dang that thing is squeaky!
My JK is on 35’s total budget style! Haha! 🤙
I dig the sticker
So towards the end he said off roading...I have a wrangler because I like that I can take the doors and roof off not really going off road..is this information still relevant if not off roading?
Hey buddy nice jeep. I actually have non lifted jeep with 305/55/20 wheels with 20x10 -18 offset. I was leaning towards getting a lift kit 2.5 inch. Cant find any references how it might look. You have any pictures from side angle where both tires show just dont want it to look small. Thankyou
If you go watch this old video of mine, i had 33's (falken Wildpeaks) on at the time. 2.5" lift and had not yet cut the fenders. ua-cam.com/video/jgXjvJoCWBc/v-deo.html
Thanks buddy ill maybe wait and save up for 35s still skeptical about going 2.5 im afraid the tires will look small. I appreciate the reply tho :)
@@safinahmed7796 if you're on a dana30 like me, you might want truss, reinforced C's, and a sleeve. That's what i had to do, after breaking an axle with my 33's.
What size wheels do you have on those 33.. Getting some new wheels n tires. Is stock now. Another ? Would u recommend to run 33’s first or should I jump straight to 35’s ( which is what i want to go after)
Thank you in advance
i know it's 5 months later and i'm not who u asked... you can jump right into 35s but if u want to do it right there r way more expenses than just wheels and tires...these r the things he's talking about in the video that most don't mention...just because u can run 35s on a stock jeep doesn't necessarily mean u should unless of course u do it right...i have a 17 jkur and MY ultimate build would be 2.5" lift with 35" tires...but in order to do that i will have to regear, i'm going with 4.56 from 3.73, have to get new tires obviously (going to use my stock rims if possible), at least a 2.5" lift, new rear tire mount and i'm going to see how the stock fenders do off road but my have to change those as well. i already run 1.5" wheel spacers so that shouldn't be an issue. i added a leveling kit last year which raised the front 2" and the rear 1" and it handles great off road with the stock 32" tires. i'm getting 33" tires this sunday and going to see how it performs with those first vs spending a few thousand dollars to go to 35s. i plan on running the 33s for a couple of years and then maybe upgrading from there if i need to. just my 2 cents..
37s
how do you use the computer to tell it that the tire is a 33?
What’s the factory size on a jk? Looks really good on 35
It's still on 33's in this video. But factory for my Wrangler Sport was 29!! Can you even imagine! Haha! I'll post some side by side comparison pics once i get the 35's mounted.
What rear bumper is that? it looks amazing!
Thanks! @REALity it's a smittybilt SRC gen 2.
What’s the name of your rear bumper??? I really like it
Thanks! That's a Smittybilt SRC Gen 2. It was a huge pain to put on, but I was finally able to get it on by myself. Had to use a jack to help me shift it so that it was even. Still, I'd buy it again.
It's pretty awesome, I have it, with matching front as well...✌👍
What gearing should I do for my Jeep Wrangler on 35s
You can look up a gear chart for tire sizes. Depending on your engine 4.56 is going to be a good blend of fuel efficiency and torque (offroad capability). If you do more offroading than highway driving you could move up to 4.88 or even more. I commute and drive cross country so i kept mine at 4.56
I got aftermarket fenders and bumpers. Can i run 35s without needing anything else
What year and model jeep?
@@GetFuktPriusOwners 2015 jku
@@notzacfue Need lift and new rims. The stock offset will rub. 33x 10.50 might fit
I'm running 35's on a about a 3.5 inch lift. Running Dana 30 front, Dana 35 Rear. Would I need to re-gear etc?
I think it has to do with your dry weight, along with how much rotational mass is added, and outside diameter of tire. What I'm saying is you can look up some charts that say what gear you should be running for your engine and tire size, but those charts are guidelines
I ran my 35's on stock 3.21 gears with an auto transmission. It was fine on the road, for a slow, lifted jeep. But to get up an obstacle offroad i had to gun it too much "gunner". Now with 4.56 gears i don't have to!
Don't forget: regearing and possibly a stronger front axle
That's a great point. I went with 4.56 gears, sleeve inserts and "C" gussets and truss.
Nice crash course into a basic lift, but you missed some very important factors. Upgrading your rear and front track bar’s, drag link (flip), tie rod, control arms, and drive shafts will be necessary. Sure you can throw some 35’s on there and cut those fenders, but you will absolutely hate the ride.
Wait tell them tires take the fenders off just to heavy to go to steel weight isss eeeeehhhhhhuuuuuge
Good video but work on your sound
Listening to this guy speak about this situation is so un motivating . Fuck .
Hummer h3 on 35s without any aftermarket bs.. Hummer h2 on 37s with out any after market parts... stupid jeep needs to learn something from GMC.
A Jeep was way cheaper then the h2 or h3. A Jeep is a small suv not like the hummer. With smaller diffs and engine a stock Jeep is more capable than h2 or h3
How many h2/h3 you see even still running the roads I can prolly recall like 3 in the last year
@@bartman8876 they may not be running but their frames are good.
@rogeliovelasquez9094 wouldn't know have not really seen them much lol
How about getting to f&%king point
