Leah Williamson: England and Arsenal captain set to miss World Cup with ACL injury!!

England captain Leah Williamson is set to miss this summer's World Cup and the rest of the season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Williamson went down in the first half of Arsenal's 1-0 Women's Super League loss to Manchester United on Wednesday.
Arsenal said: "Leah is set for an extended spell on the sidelines," adding that she will have surgery "in due course".
England's opening World Cup match with Haiti takes place on 22 July.
The 26-year-old, who captained England to their European Championship victory in 2022, is the latest injury setback for Sarina Wiegman's Lionesses.

Perhaps the answer to reduce these injuries is to get th women to play 25min halves. Giving them equal pay of course, if not more pay because of the more higher quality of football compared to men that they will be able to produce in the shorter halves.

25mins?? maybe to 40mins halves and perhaps reduce games played in leagues

It doesn't matter how long they play, it's an impact injury caused by deceleration that women seem to be more susceptible to. Weinroither was on the pitch for 18 mins before her ACL injury.
