When turning off an air conditioner, if we turn it off by pressing the switch off button in the remote, without unplugging the main switch, will power be consumed by the switched off AC?
Yes there will be a small residual ‘stand by’ power consumption. And yes this is much less than the power used when the AC is running. But the AC only runs intermittently.
However, it still adds up. Firstly the stand by power is consumed 24 x 7. If there are several devices in a house each consuming a small amount of power the total consumption becomes appreciable. If many people leave all their device in standby the consumption starts to get significant.
