Making of Ganesh idol with Maida and Rice flour (Eco friendly) at home

- The festival of Ganesh chathurti is widely celebrated in India. Ganesh idols are worshiped for 11days and are immersed. So this is my small attempt to make environment friendly.
Making of Ganesh idol with Maida (all purpose flour) and rice flour, using food colours to make it Eco-friendly and cost effective. The items used are easily available at home. This idol can be easily immersed at home and we can pour the water for plants or in any water body. The items used for decoration can be removed easily and are not harmful. The eye liner and gold colour used are water based and soluble in water.
Maida and rice flour should be taken in equal quantity and we should make a hard dough. Only or much of maida will sag the idol or only rice flour or much of rice flour may make the idol crack. Hence mixture is better. The other material used for colouring, decoration and highlighting the idol can be eliminated if we want to and make a plain dough idol.
Hope you all enjoying making the Ganesh idol. The material can be replaced by clay or play dough to make beautiful idols. If you want you can avoid the decorative kundans and zardosi pipes too and make simple Ganesh with available material.

excellent! do we need to keep the idol in the refrigerator if done a day before? if we leave it outside for a day, will it not become dry n spoil?
Thanks Jaya for ur appreciation...Refrigeration is a good idea however it will not get spoiled in a day definitely if kept outside. It might sag but will not get spoiled, if we make it in advance..If in doubt pl add any white glue like fevicol, etc and put in refrigerator. The dough should be hard to make it last longer...hope this will be of help. :)

Hii awesome work... I tried it watching ur video, turned out great.. But one question, i used paint to decorate my ganesha.. So what should i do now... How do i nimmajan n use that... Please reply..
I am Glad that the idol turned out great. If you are in India you can do nimarjan in any pond or water body. Or we can do the same in a bucket and pour the residue in soil or in any plants near your area. It depends on size too..In olden day, nimarjan in rural India was done by keeping the clay ganesha in the fields to my knowledge. Hope this wud b of help.
I have to make this for Ganesh Chathurti this year
how long does it take to dry?
Sorry for delayed response, generally it dries out over night to the max... Due to rice flour it dries out pretty fast.
Hi
Beautiful Ganesha.
Should I make this ahead of time or same day? If I make it 2 days before will it dry too much?
Also for coloring, should that be done once the idol is dry?
Thanks
Thank u for posting your query. My suggestion would be to make the idol before day and not before 2 day. It might take Max an hour to make. As the material used in making are perishable, it depends on the climate too. Coming to the coloring part it should be done while the dough is still wet, as once dry the food colors might not merge properly. Hope this would be useful.
Yes, thank you!

Hi, यह कच्ची मूर्ति है, तो 3 दिनों के बाद हम थोड़े से पानी में विशार्गित कर के पेड़ पोवधो को दे देते है.hope this clarifies
Very beautiful ji
ye to bahot nice hai lekin our bhi kuch alag showpiece dikhaye plese
thank you for posting...sure will try to make more videos
How long can we keep it as we have 10 days puja.. de we have to dry it completely before sthapna
Hi thank you for writing...I am sorry to say, it may not last for ten days puja. As atta maida might stay till 3 days only...this will be helpful for those who do 3days puja..U May consider my below video ua-cam.com/video/kotdR86vClE/v-deo.html for 10 days puja
Nice video . Can i keep this ganesha for 11 days?
It can be kept for 3 days... however it may last for more than 3 days, if we add fevicol or PVA glue with water to nead the dough..(it's just a suggestion I did not try this).. u can consider this video on my channel which will last for 11 days for sure

thanku so so much !!
i can use maida and ata
Thank u for posting. Please use both maida and rice ata in equal quantity. If rice ata is not available you may use wheat flour too, however the dough needs to be hard otherwise the idol may sag.
Vinayaka chavithi pooja vidhanam
how many days it can stay put what happens when atta get puffy ( started yeilding yeast ) ?
tq u for posting..this might not stay for long may b three days. however if mix VA glue it will stay long
is that of equal proportion? ???... maida and rice
yes it is equal portions of maida n rice flour..
Hello... Loved your work! There was a question on my mind if you could clarify. How long can we keep this idol ? I mean is it perishable? How to make it last longer?
Hi Rucha..thank you for posting your query..This idol is definitely perishable as it is meant for ganesh chathurthi till nimarjhan only for that puja. To make it last longer my suggestion we can mix any PVA glue i.e. the white glue while needing the dough with maida n rice flour. Or secondly we can mix any play dough it will last longer. hope this is of help.
thaaaaaank you so much!!! 😃
thank you for appreciation.
How will we transfer it to pooja place from plate
Tq for posting...I suggest use a leaf n make on it..it help u to handle with care..
@@Daab4Do thanks
How do you dissolve it?
please use enough water in a tub or container, u can use the dissolved portion for plants
same question
Hi...Hope the above would help.
How to do visarjan of this ganpati
We place that in a small tub or vessel at home n pour water give this solution to plants...
I can use only maida
I suggest you use with rice flour or alternative u can use lill glue( though not suggested)...only maida will b saggy n loose shape..tq for posting
Can we do this only with maida?
Only maida will sag the idol..so please add any Harding atta like rice jowar or so haldi...
If immersed in water... Will it dissolve completely????
Hi tq for ur query n posting it, yes for sure it will dissolve completely..
Hi I made the same but the water present in the salt is making it wet and loose, please tell me what should I do?
Hi, I think u meant salt present in water. If the idol is sagging, please add more rice flour n it has to be very tightly kneaded.or Please add PVA glue to tighten it...n the last option is add white glue n bake it , which will harden the idol, however I am not sure if it can be used for puja ..hope this can be helpful to u.. thank you.
@@Daab4Do can I make a thin layer of white glue or PVA glue on the top of my murti will that work??
Please try, I am extremely sorry, I am not sure if it works for your murthy as I am unable to analyse the state of ur murthi..is it sagging or becoming flat...if it is becoming flat n sagging ..I am afraid u might have to redo the whole murthy by adding more maida n rice flour... please use very lill water..it has to be hard like soil
Tq mam, small doubt mam
Mam, Vinayak ethana days irukkum, crack akuma
I made this ganesh..but its stay only 2 days ...so little sad
can we keep Clay ganesh idol in refrigerator
Sorry for delayed response, we can for sure keep in freezer, however suggestion to make it before day and keep out side, clay will not get effected. I decorate every thing prepare the ganesh on day of pooja...

How long does the ganesha will stay?
thank you for posting..this will stay for 3 to 4 days...for making it last long add any PVA glue instead of water for mixing the dough..
Daab4Do not for 11 days
yes, however you can mix with PVA GLUE (WHITE GLUE LIKE FEVICOL ETC) and it will last long. You can watch my latest video on making of ganesh with clay made from soil and corn flour..it will stay for more than 11 days
