With the addition of Weaver, Rutgers' D line is looking beastly. We're upgrading talent and getting faster all over the D. Now......signing Owen Waffle & bro would make me forget all about that other sport (almost). Upstream, Red Team!
This defense is stacked! I keep forgetting that Mo will be back next year. I know offensive lineman don't come cheap but do you think the coaching staff sees some younger guys taking the next step? An idea for a future podcast would be one about younger players who have the potential of stepping up next season.
Lets not do 2 many backflips. 100% agree the DL coaches have to earn their checks it this year because the DL produced nothing last season. We have seen that 5 star talent doesn't win games. Still need way more speed in the secondary, someone who can spy the quarterback, and when the QB steps up in the pocket, can actually make a play. We had a freshman start at FS all year, we are bone dry in that area. Richard O'Leary with Duff and Strong locking up the starting WR spots is the staff moving some of that depth over to the Defense, what's the plan?
Getting pressure on the QB will be everything next year since the secondary will be vulnerable. The portal is good...helps players get more time on field....and helps keep the middle level teams to be competitive with each other. Relying on all HS recruits to develop is no longer viable.
