They have one chance with Trevor Lawrence still in his mid 20’s, and with Brian Thomas Jr on a rookie contract. I want this franchise to succeed and the best chance of them succeeding starts with cleaning house. This is an attractive job for a head coach and I wish the Jags the best moving forward.
Short-term: improve the secondary, cause Good Lord, the depth for their defensive backs is quite literally "burnt toast" if I have to depend on them to defend the pass. The team has many needs, but the defensive backfield needs the remedy most.
The Jaguars making boneheaded decisions and half measures to improve their team?... Gee I wonder if that isn't the entire theme of this franchise. We are the AFC South version of the Cardinals.
Something worth sharing, but Baalke was the GM for the 49ers back in the early-mid 2010s and he ran Jim Harbaugh out of town and replaced him with a coach who got fired within a year. This probably says he has a huge ego and this is not good if you wanna bring in a high quality new head coach if your GM has a huge ego
There were 2 coaches: Jim Tomsula and Chip Kelly. Hes also not that great at drafting. A handful of decent selections does not excuse him. Even a broken clock is right sometimes 😂
@@Yeagerallday The team collapsed completely after Jim and his loyalists left. He had one decent draft, getting Mike Iupati and NaVorro Bowman in 2010, and then just never had another good one. Not with the 49ers and not with the Jags. Not like his hiring of Chip Kelly, Urban Meyer or Doug Pederson were inspiring either.
Byron Leftwhich was offered the job before Pederson but he wouldn’t take the Job if they Kept Baalke. They chose Baalke and now they are on to another coach.
When I saw Pederson was leaving and not Balke I knew this franchise was in trouble again. They'll never learn. They're acting like they have Howie Roseman, and they just don't.
And I feel really bad for Trevor Lawrence. Because he's always gonna be looked at as a guy who was a failed "Generational Talent" when it actuality this Jags organization continuously fails him. None of the top QBs can play in organization and look that much better
Great quarterbacks can overcome sh*tty organizations. Perhaps they can't/won't win championships, but one can still have a succesful career despite sh*tty organizations. The point you're making really is the key to the whole problem with the Jags. They are on the hunt for a new coach, but the GOOD candidates are going to be scared off by Baalke. So they'll likely be stuck having to over-pay a college guy (again) or take a swing on one of the less-hot coordinators and see how that works. I'm guessing it'll be Kingsbury, and we can see if he handles it any better than he did in Arizona.
I wouldn't pick Kingsbury as my first guess. The number one thing he's enjoyed in DC was the fact he has a HC in Quinn that asked for him to not be a yes man, but to openly question him if need be in order for this team to all around be better. I think when you look at how things went in Arizona, with Steve Keim having more say then justified based on his track record who never really provided Kingsbury with the roster he needed, he might not want to go through that situation again. That being said, opportunities in the NFL are rare and fleeting, so maybe Kingsbury would take the job if offered.

I’ve seen a lot of “great” recievers on terrible teams. I think people need to recalculate the benefits of having one on your team. A great receiver doesn’t make your team better. A group of good receivers does make your team better. The chiefs got rid of one of the best receivers in football and have won 2 straight super bowls while they lost one of 2 with him. I know this is a Jags video, but it is still really strange as a Lions team to see my team be so well run lol. Like all these years of awful football have given me fan PTSD. The Jags have a guy who can be the franchise QB, even though IMO Trevor hasn't quite lived up to expectations, but that GM and the Khans are going to hold this franchise back for years.
I am a panthers fan who very much hates David Tepper for pretty much everything he's done since buying our franchise, but I will give him props for ridding himself of the football terrorist named Scott Fitterer. It was very strange this season, watching games and going "oh hey look that's one of the rookies and he's actually doing something!", not a common experience over the past few years. Kinda nice to have a (hopefully) competent GM who is on the same page as the HC. My sympathy goes out to my southern cat team bros...
Maason smith is one of our best interior D linemen rn. He has only played a handful of games and he has already produced more this year than Hamilton and Armstead who played every game.
Seahawks are in a very weird situation where they remind me of the Steelers where they can play up to the good teams and even sometimes beat them. But like with the Steelers - am I ever going to pick the Seahawks to win 4 in a row to win the super bowl? No. So to answer your question Paul - I think they are missing being a GREAT team when they are a good team. And it's tough. Also IOL big time
I’m fully convinced that any of us couch GMs that play fantasy football could do the GM role at the level of most of the GMs in the league. Howie Roseman stands out but within the same league guys look at madden to rationalize trades
Waist? He is the second highest paid QB would not say that's a waist also paid Doug Peterson better than most head coaches too and the Jags still lose 85% of their games
I don't get all the Jags hate and there's too much Balke piling on. Their 4 wins are NOTHING like NE's 3 wins (I'm not counting Buffalo not trying to keep #1 pick away from them). The Jags had a tough schedule - Miami and Cleveland were both SUPPOSED to be contenders w/ both Tua and Watson healthy - both eked out a win. Then Buffalo, Houston and Indy - hardly a walk in the park. A week off playing NE (pounded NE) the loss to Chicago was bad - caught looking at the next four which was GB, Philly, Minny, Detroit and Houston...are you kidding me? They were crushed by Detroit, but the rest were all close games. How many games did horrible Mac Jones play? 10? Good luck with howdy doody at QB. Obviously the team (and coach) quit when Lawrence went out which isn't a good look, but the AFC South is up for grabs - (1) get a RUNNING GAME (2) get another WR - losing Kirk killed the passing game - they need a lot of work on D, but they have as much talent as most of the league.
I want to feel bad for Lawrence, but if you’re a qb at the level of prospect he was you should know better than to go to the jags. I know guys want to be a good guy, a team guy, but these teams don’t care about these players and the players should worry about themselves more. If you’re in the position to be drafted by the jags or the browns you have to pull an Eli and just tell them not to bother.
Hey man no hate here cause I get it, those guys offer a lot of money and it’s hard to turn down, but I don’t think you want to be a guy promoting sports betting. Everyone knows how destructive gambling is, and everyone knows the big sport books make money off of addicts. “Why not spice it up” is a really bad way of phrasing getting into gambling. I know you’re not doing this with malicious intent, but I would encourage you to really think about the implications of taking sponsorships from those people. I’m fine with sports betting being a thing, adults can choose what they want to do in life. But just like in fine with smoking being a thing that people can choose to do, I wouldn’t want to be the guy encouraging people to smoke. Both smoking and gambling are just overall negatives, and everyone knows that.
Yea, but its not hard to fleece Kwesi, because even tho he has a wall street background, he has yet to show he even understands the value of his own draft picks.
@@FootballAnalysis1 I feel we can trust him in free agency and managing the cap but from what we have seen he is another guy who tries to be the smartest guy in the draft room. Of course he has had some bad luck with his draft picks( mekhi blackmon tearing his ACL, lewis cine leg injury and Khyree Jackson's unfortunate death) but still I feel that he needs to fix his drafting.
I really do't understand the Kyle Pitts hate, he isn't on the field, It has nothing to do with skill, it's just we love to run the ball and he isn't a good blocker. He can stretch the field and produce when getting targets, The talent is there, just like how players are schemed in during certain plays. I can see the effort is lacking sometimes, but give the man a chance to make plays. his stats as a starting TE are above average , but as a former top 5 pick, I can confidently say its underwhelming. But when targeted he does produce, just have to involve him in the offense.
Maason Smith only played 9 Games this year. For some inexplicable reason he was sat out half the season. There were a few really odd things the Jags did this year. Like Arik Armstead playing mostly DE instead of his natural DT position and constantly rotating D linemen in and out games. The offensive line run-blocking is just plain shitty and the team refuses to aggressively address it. I think they need to strengthen the trenches and move on from Etienne.
I feel like I’m the only one who thinks Baalke isn’t too bad. Yeah he missed on a few picks and signings here and there but this team wasn’t awful heading into the season. Had a decent supporting cast around a good young qb.
TubFrog was right he said the Jaguars ARE some comedians. Funniest joke they made in 2024 was Khan calling the 2024 Jags “tHe mOsT TaLeNtEd rOsTeR iN jAGuArS HiStOrY”
If you’re already getting rid of the coach what’s the point of keeping Balke especially when he’s had some major misses in the draft. BTJ is single handedly is securing his job. I think too often teams retain GMs based off of one really good pick
i have to apologize you said that he bears were moving on from fields and you were right although i think they could have kept him and got the haul i see why they drafted calebi am interested in your thoughts on my bears ive been pounding the tables for 6 years now for jim harbaugh i dont think there are many options like a jim harbaugh its a fuckin train wreck in chicago what are your thoughts
Man whats up with generational qbs and bad GMs. 1st Andrew Luck back in 2012 with Ryan Grigson who drafted Phillip Dorsett (instead of a lineman) and traded picks for Trent Richardson. Then, we have Trevor who has suffered bad luck after another with front office incompetence. Time will tell with Caleb and Poles
If Jaguars fans think this is bad now, that's only a glimpse into the future once Tony Khan takes the ownership reins. Look, even though AEW has nothing to do with gridiron football, the stagnation of the product and the drama going on behind the scenes is absolutely on Tony Khan's shoulders, since he is one running the show there. If Tony Khan cannot keep his guys in check there, what makes you think he can do the same with the Jaguars once he becomes the owner. Besides having a good team, good management by the front office is also a crucial factor to determine if a team is successful or not. Right now, the Jaguars do not have that, and spells trouble for the long term success of this team.
There's very rarely a case to be made for keeping a GM when you let the HC go, any decent "big name" HC prospect needs to be on the same page as his GM.
They will fire Baalke or move him to a different spot after their Ben Johnson interview. It pains me to say as a Texans fan, but I see them getting him. At worst they will get Liam Coen, still a VERY solid option.
Their GM has spent a ton of draft capital on that defense and my Lions could have literally put up 100 points if they wanted to that says alot about his draft decisions over his tenure. No way Ben Johnson wants to take that job. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Jags because they remind me of how the Lions used to be but there is no excuse to keep Balke at this point 🤦♂️
I’m a firm believer Lawrence isn’t that guy. Everyone says he has no help but yet every other QB “needs to lift up the players around him” idk why there are so many excuses for him other than draft capital
It’s hard to believe any QB would be much better off in his situation at the Jags… horrible OLine means no run game and no time PLUS you’ve got press Taylor calling plays…

The Jags have a guy who can be the franchise QB, even though IMO Trevor hasn't quite lived up to expectations, but that GM and the Khans are going to hold this franchise back for years.
Kahn was asked if he would consider replacing the GM if the incoming coach wanted it. Kahn said yes.
It’s CRAZY how some of these GMs survived this year. How are they so entrenched and their coaches are so expendable?
Im not as worried since the Khan statement next to him. I think hes disposable af.
5:40 Nabers, and McConkey are pretty good in their own right, + McConkey has become Herbert’s go to target
Khan said he’s open to replacing Baalke as GM. He just needs the full plan with reasoning from the NEW HC coming in
In your opinion. What are the seahawks missing? (Other than a new OC) I value your takes a lot. Thanks ✌️
Also IOL big time
@FootballAnalysis1 haha yes OL is a huge point. Thanks man
Love the new thumbnails!!!
Thank you Daniel!!
I’m fully convinced that any of us couch GMs that play fantasy football could do the GM role at the level of most of the GMs in the league. Howie Roseman stands out but within the same league guys look at madden to rationalize trades
Our boy got a DraftKings promo let’s gooooo
TLAW needs to get out of there before he waists his whole career
This comment needs more likes
“Waists”😂
Waist? He is the second highest paid QB would not say that's a waist also paid Doug Peterson better than most head coaches too and the Jags still lose 85% of their games
Rain's a comin' maw.....my knee's a feelin' Balke.
idk why your thumbnails are so funny to me😂😂😂
Amazing video as always but much prefer the classic thumbnails FA 💙
Not too sure if people would be interested but id love a cardinals video, your take on where they should go in the 2025 season roster wise
Vrabel already got screwed by a GM. Unlikely he'd go to a bad one.
Its not that important but i like the pld thumbnails i think. This one changing back was good.
The AFC South has I believe 7 first over all picks in the past 20 or so years!
"The risk I took was calculated, but man am I bad at math" - Trent Balke...possibly
As a Jags fan, it was an honor for Saquan Barkeley to reverse hurdle over us
Thank you for this video man
I don't get all the Jags hate and there's too much Balke piling on.
It was either we draft him or the Jets so
I’m amazed he was hired as a GM after what he did in SF
“Heavy loading” would be the opposite of “heavy lifting”
Ben Johnson could actually utilize Lawrence's talent. Would be insane for the Jags to miss out on that because they won't hire a better GM.
Bros voice is soothing. Needs to do some audiobooks or something
Every jags game I’ve seen was embarrassing.. and if you’ve played ball it’s clear as day what the problem is.. they’re a terribly coached team..
Titans fan here, our season was worse imo. But the Jags had expectations - we didn’t really lol
Lawrence is done in Duval . It’s not his fault but if he’s smart he’d move on to a Team that can protect a QB , and that team isn’t in JAX .
100% you make a video in a years time saying how great the decision was
Trent Baalke is p diddy Khan
Yea, but its not hard to fleece Kwesi, because even tho he has a wall street background, he has yet to show he even understands the value of his own draft picks.
I get what you're saying but Kwesi has 2 13 win seasons as a GM in his first 3 years and competitively rebuilt the team on the fly. I trust him
@@FootballAnalysis1 I feel we can trust him in free agency and managing the cap but from what we have seen he is another guy who tries to be the smartest guy in the draft room. Of course he has had some bad luck with his draft picks( mekhi blackmon tearing his ACL, lewis cine leg injury and Khyree Jackson's unfortunate death) but still I feel that he needs to fix his drafting.
I doubted Kwsei when they hired him because he was a finance guy and you can’t trust finance guys but so far he’s proved me wrong
But when targeted he does produce, just have to involve him in the offense.
agreed I think Pitts would be great for Cincinnati or either LA teams
God I hate my team
Baalke is Jacksonville's Rich McKay/Wormtongue?
Maason Smith only played 9 Games this year. For some inexplicable reason he was sat out half the season. There were a few really odd things the Jags did this year. Like Arik Armstead playing mostly DE instead of his natural DT position and constantly rotating D linemen in and out games. The offensive line run-blocking is just plain shitty and the team refuses to aggressively address it. I think they need to strengthen the trenches and move on from Etienne.
incompetence breeds incompetence.
I feel like I’m the only one who thinks Baalke isn’t too bad. Yeah he missed on a few picks and signings here and there but this team wasn’t awful heading into the season. Had a decent supporting cast around a good young qb.
Thank you for making the video. Jaguars fans are not happy with Khan or Baalke and I have a strong feeling 2025 will be painful.
I remember not even believing my eyes when Howie fleeced the Titans for AJ Brown…Vrabel’s reaction was very telling when he found out.
Can you blame him
@ oh I would’ve flipped the table if I were him. He handled himself rather well, considering the circumstances.
Same thing for the Saints but Mickey Loomis :(
Trevor Lawrence has been ruined already, he might be bust even though it's not 100% completely his fault
Jags make me depressed
i have to apologize you said that he bears were moving on from fields and you were right although i think they could have kept him and got the haul i see why they drafted calebi am interested in your thoughts on my bears ive been pounding the tables for 6 years now for jim harbaugh i dont think there are many options like a jim harbaugh its a fuckin train wreck in chicago what are your thoughts
Ha, thought this was a Flight Mike video from the title.
It's hilarious to me that the Jaguars got rid of a Pederson and kept Baalke. That franchise is hopeless.
Jacksonville doesn’t deserve a NFL team
Neither is Carolina, Baltimore Stallions and St Louis Panthers along with San Antonio Bobcats would've been more deserving
@@metsandjetsfan5174 I mean, here in Carolina we are definitely more concerned with college sports, but Charlotte is a pretty big city
They will fire Baalke or move him to a different spot after their Ben Johnson interview. It pains me to say as a Texans fan, but I see them getting him. At worst they will get Liam Coen, still a VERY solid option.
This channel is better than Mikerphone/Flight Mike
Well mikerphone since that's the football channel
I see where Tony Khan gets his bad business sense from.
💯%
_Sees the video title._ Oh, just the one big mistake?
Is Baalke the guy Jim Harbaugh kicked out of a meeting because it was for "men only" or was that Jed York
BTJ was absolutely robbed from a pro bowl selection
Their GM has spent a ton of draft capital on that defense and my Lions could have literally put up 100 points if they wanted to that says alot about his draft decisions over his tenure. No way Ben Johnson wants to take that job. I’ve always had a soft spot for the Jags because they remind me of how the Lions used to be but there is no excuse to keep Balke at this point 🤦♂️
Smith was hurt for a good part of the season
Jags are only relevant every 5 years, they are entering year 3 of irrelevance.
The overhyping of Ben Johnson is real
Baalke built a dynasty in San Francisco keeps getting left out. The jags ain’t playing to talent that’s a coaching issue.
Nightmare owners don't make winning consistently hard, it makes it impossible.
If Tennessee kept Mike Vrabel, they'd probably be in a better spot and wouldn't be looking for a new direction hear in 2025
Shads gotta big boat tho
I’m a firm believer Lawrence isn’t that guy. Everyone says he has no help but yet every other QB “needs to lift up the players around him” idk why there are so many excuses for him other than draft capital
It’s hard to believe any QB would be much better off in his situation at the Jags… horrible OLine means no run game and no time PLUS you’ve got press Taylor calling plays…
THIS IS BAD 🗣📢🔊🔥
