@@teepsfam Hi ! The cities of Rebat the capital , Asilah , Tetouan , Tangier , Fes , Meknes, Marrakech , …. Are all millennium cities ! They are very old cities with big history ! For instance, The city of Fes was founded in 789 ( 8th century ) by Idris l the founder of Morocco !

I really enjoyed this video. Wherever we go in the world we like to include time in smaller towns. The slower rhythmn gives you an opportunity to savour sights, smells and sounds and get a real feel for a place. Asilah looks very pretty! I can see our trip to Morocco is just going to be a whole series of photos of walls, hanging rugs and doors. Lots and lots of doors.😊🚪
Same here! I like to mix it up with low-key towns/villages and cities for a well rounded experience. Asilah's been on my itinerary for a couple of months so I'm glad I came across this vid!
A medina in arabic is literally "a city" and in Morocco the word medina is meant for the old part of a city. A market in the other hand is Souk in arabic. So when you come to Morocco go and visit The medina and wander around in its souks 😊
I assume the medina was originally the walled city that surrounded the kasbah, where the artisans plied their trades, is this true? And I also guess that it would have had the ability to be closed of from invaders by large gates, high walls and intentionally confusing alleyways, in which it is easy to trap and attack from above? Much like most of Europe had and of which there are remnants right across the continent ( York probably being the best example)
@@triarb5790 yeah originally the walled city .. was simply the city .. and after 19th and 20th century .. modern neighbourhoods were build outside of the walls and became the new city.

I think you guys are very wrong about what you saying about Asila Asila is one of the historical cities of Morocco, it doesn’t have nothing to do wth Spain, for your information the only two small cities that still occupied by Spain and now its under a huge dispute between Morocco and Spain to get back is “ Sebtta and Melilla” and of the big fight Morocco still have with e Spain But My Freinds from Utah please try to read the history very carefully especially about that part of the world !!! Asilla is a Litl artist town !!! We explained that Spain has a settlement in the northeast corner of Morocco, where cueta is found, not Asilah. However, as a matter of history, Spain did control asilah from 1578 to 1589 and from 1912 to 1956.

Medina in arabic is "the city " ,or the town.. in French " la ville " ..but to distinguish between the old and historic part of the town and the new , we call the old part " Medina " .. the market is the Souk ...
yes, we realized after we had explained incorrectly
Medina is old city not Market.
correct, the souk was found in the medina
Al Madina is literally 'city' in Arabic, but by extension in the 'old city', or 'inner city'.
Asilah was built and construcred by alidriss dynasty and he is a Moroccan Sultan this City was built to defend Morocco from the Portugais but thiey could controlled just for few years and then back to the sultan hwo get it back so please be sure about your informations before saying incorrect things about our history and Spain has nothing to do with this city

Spain controlled asilah from 1589 to 1692 then again from 1912 to 1956.
