Hi, I have just realised having discovered this band via this box set the first two albums were in an earlier deluxe set. I am going to try and find that next - Phil :)
I have a CD jewel case copy of Love & War. Great album. With Sharon Case on that album's cover it is quite a contrast with the Poetic Justice album cover! 🤣
Might have to get this for the bonus tracks. Their first 4 albums were fantastic, never worried about the artwork of their 3rd album Poetic Justice because the reviews were so positive. I guess they couldn't get the rights to reissue the first 2 MCA albums, shame as they are great & well worth getting.
Cover of the volume 1 box set has a 60s style psychedelic feel to it. Interesting. And sadly, I missed out on this band in the 80s. Better late than never.
I saw on someone post the MCA would not give up the rights for the 1st 2 albums release to release. What crock MCA didn't get behind this band which this band was better then alot of bands back then that were with better record companies and got better support and made it bigger who were not even as good as Lillian Axe. Ron Taylor has one of the best voices ever and a great showman. They were great live bad. Sadly Jon Ster passed away several years ago. Ron Taylor still plays in the south states with Darren Delatt from Lillian the band called low rider and Ron voice is still as good today. Shame on MCA 1st for taking this band seriously when they were out there doing everything in power 2 promote their music and records and now 4 standing in their way again and letting them Re releasing the first 2 records. Their music especially the records that had Ron on vocals are timeless. Thanks 4 u review and making a new generation aware of one the the best bands that were under rated.
I cannot believe that Lillian Axe did not add love and war and their self titled to this boxset. I thought ok maybe it will be on volume 2 but they aren't. I feel like I have been ripped off. Love + War is one of the best albums I have ever heard I am very disappointed that it has been overlooked and instead has their later material which is nothing like their earlier stuff. Love and War made you.
Thank you Phil for a wonderful review of our box set. Your approach and true love of music is so evident in the way you approach discussing the art of music itself. It is classy and honest. I know a lot of people are concerned because our first two albums are not in this box Set. That was simply because we could not get the rights from universal music. They were both however re-released several years ago so they are available. We spent a lot of time and effort into putting as much as we could into this. And the great part of it is that there is a part two which is available right now. Thank you again Phil, and I hope to meet you someday. Thank you to all of our friends and fans out there and keep a lookout for a brand new album at the end of this year. if you haven’t heard our latest album, it came out a year and a half ago and it is called From Womb to Tomb. Phil, it is the most uplifting album we have ever done. I think you would really enjoy it. We are also releasing our third video from this album in the next couple of weeks. Hang on! This volume 1 misses out the first two albums!! And the second one, 'Love and War' is the album that put Lilian Axe on the map!

Love+War is brilliant. One of the best albums of 1989.

The only box the first 2 albums has been in, sells for £350. Rock Candy released the first 2 albums but Global Rock couldn't get the rights for them.
Isn't it crazy? How could they leave out those 2 albums? I'm very disappointed.
