I enjoyed this a lot more than the 2022 All-Star Game a few nights ago. This year's broadcast had too many gimmicks, including those awful uniforms. It was nice to see a straightforward, unpretentious broadcast that focused on the game and players.

Wilber Wood was 15-10 for the Chisox at this time , he finished the year with a 24 -17 record ... 😮

@@1223jamez he was 24 - 20 , with 21 complete games with 4 shutouts while complying with 199 strikeouts but the following year after this one he was 20 - 19 😳 ... you got to admit jamez that for a knuckle baller in a not so good club Wilbur Wood wasn't that bad

Wilbur Wood had four straight 20 game winning seasons , but at the same token lost 69 games combined in those four year stints .... nonetheless in my opinion he ranks up there with the best knuckle ballers in Major league history .... yep Wilbur Wood is in the company of Hoyt Wilhelm, Charlie Hough, Tom Candiotti, Phil Niekro and Tim Wakefield 🌟👍

They were damned close in catching the A's that season. If they had had another solid starter, like a Gaylord Perry, I think they would have caught the A's and possibly made it to the WS that year.

This is so interesting. The NL was in a major run of wins in the 60's and 70's, only loss the 1971 classic in Detroit as the AL was powered by Reggie Jackson SUPERHOMER. I was there.
Now, so many, many years laters the AL leads the series and I can't name one player who might make the 2024 team. Crazy.

What was NBC thinking and doing, there no game footage of the NY Mets at Atlanta for games one and two for the first ever 1969 divisional series, and they left the 1972 Allstar game in Atlanta all cut up and a complete mess, these are the same people who were responsible for interrupting the Raider-Jet game and giving Hedi a green light, Go!

And good luck in finding any footage whatsoever of either the AL or NLCS from 1971. Just 20 second snippets. Nothing substantial has yet surfaced here on UA-cam.

@@rayjr62 ray for some odd reason the media coverage and photographs or photo journalism when pertaining to sports coverage in Atlanta Georgia seem to be non existent from the area gone by, 1966 Braves, 1966 Falcons, 1968 Hawks, Flames 1972 were all playing in the Big league, then in the city, yet there’s not a large amount of really anything left that was persevered. NBC coverage of Game 1 and 2 of the first ever MLB National league division series at Atlanta stadium, 1969 was important, but not enough to save, ABC’s coverage of Pete Maravich first regular season game as a Atlanta Hawk was saved October 1970 but not many still photos of the game exist. The first ever MLB Allstar game at Atlanta stadium NBC coverage, never have found the complete game to watch plus still photos. NBC was there of course for the Braves Dodgers game April 1974 Henry Aaron 715 homerun. Just always seemed strange out of all that happening in a big major city, like Atlanta….it was not show cased more. Thank you

@@billymatthews7346 It cost NBC about 300-500 dollars for
broadcast quality video tape in those days. You would think that
somebody would have had the foresight to say, "Let's save this
on video tape and archive it" but no they did not and that was
shameful. What about all throughout the 1960's, those games?
Video tape was around as early
as 1958. Kinescopes are the absolute worst.
I blame MLB for not demanding a high quality video tape from NBC and archiving games putting the video in a storage facility or somewhere. MLB should have done this years before this game.
