@1:25.15 Costas, "They'll have a new ballpark probably for 1989." Ironically, Costas and Kubek were there for the opening series in early June 1989...PS there were technical issues that prevented the Skydome from opening to start the 89 baseball season...

Im pretty sure that home run is in Dawsons top 5 favorite home runs. 2 years prior in a 1987 Cubs vs Padres matchup, Dawson hit a HR against Show. When Dawson went to bat against Show again, Show beaned him right in the face. It left Dawson unconscious with blood pouring from a deep cut on his cheek that required 21 stitches to close. Side note: Greg Maddux who was the Cubs pitcher that day, got revenge for Dawson and beaned Padres batter Benito Santiago. Maddux was ejected and sent to the minors.

Costas was up on more than the usual stack of 'soap boxes' doing a stand-up or when he's sitting - telephone books - with his little speech. Bo Field, famous for her game 6 gyrations in 1st row behind the plate gets a cameo @ 1:59:18.

The best part of watching the replays of these old baseball games is watching the game as it was shown from behind HOME PLATE. There was no CENTER FIELD camera so you don't have to watch the game, as it is shown today, from behind the pitcher. I absolutely hate watching any game from center field, you can't see anything from there. Oh, how I hate the way games are shown these days!!!!

Brokaw is a bit of a baseball fan. When I worked on Nightly News he would occasionally ask me about a game or player in the 90's and early 2K's. He mentioned that the first time he visited NYC to appear on TV game show "Two for the Money" with North Dakota Governor and later AFL Commissioner. He said that he made a special trip out to Ebbets Field (1957) to see Jackie Robinson.

I wish the Astros could of found a way to win game 6 but they just came up a run short losing 7-6, overall the pitching wasn’t too bad, the only thing I still wonder about nearly 40 years later is why Jim Deshaes wasn’t used I mean atleast for an inning, he had pitched so well in games leading up to the NLCS
