      I just rejected a board with a short to ground, an exploded first mosfet and the 19v rail fused to whatever was below that mosfet (probably 12v). I could try again but there are probably a lot of dead stuff on that board anyways.

    Sorin, I have seen you do some dodgy stuff but this defies logic and everything I have learned about electronics in the last 50-plus years. Only you could get away with this, I laughed so hard at this video my sides hurt, I kept telling my friend, watch him, he just keeps scraping away the burnt parts, circuit lands, and board material until the short goes away and he won't replace any of it but for some unknown reason known only to the creator the damn thing will work! If I send you my test leads will you bless them or rub them with your magic fingers? 🤣😂😁😄

      @Mr Guru Not on this laptop though. It depends on the fan. If the fan is serviceable, they can be cleaned and oiled. This is a cheap consumer laptop so it does not have that possibility.

    This is the second or third time I watch this video. It blows my mind every time. When I saw those capacitors I was sure this board had left this world. But you bought it back to life. So cool! I wouldn't worry about the fingerprint reader like you said. The fan though needs replacing with a new one. The fan is important.

This video deserves the nobel of dodgiest laptop motherboard repair ever done to global history! 👏🏼 I congratulate you after that even if I don't believe it will work flawlessly after so much burn but who cares! It did pass the post screen so yeah perfect that's amazing news! That fan is 100% serviceable and you can remove it, unscrew the cover screws and open it, clean it, grease it and close it after changing the thermal paste and maybe a small thermal pad (it depends from the board). Well done Sorin. 👏🏼 Greetings from Greece 🇬🇷

    Sorin incredible job. Just one question did u put the notebook under load test after you put together. I wonder how it behaved under load, i mean as you said the board could burn more and best way to see that is to test under load. It is lways a pleasure watching you. Apart from that you dont do dogie repairs, while you have a good knowledge and understanding of circuit, and working of circuits you sometime show us a different perspective of solving the same problem. I am veteran engineer for 35+ years experience in Electronics and I love my job because i belive that ELectronics is Magic and people working on this subject are magicians and Sorin my friend i have seen a lot magicians and you are one of the best . Is there any material like fiber to fill the holes?

    • @SianaGearz
      @SianaGearz Рік тому

      Don't need any fibre, why? Like sure if you wanted to do it for real real you could take epoxy and you could take some fibreglass chopped strand mat, chopped fibre, but normally what i've seen is a little too coarse and not needed for a hole this small, and you need to take precautions so the glass doesn't go everywhere, doesn't itch you, doesn't go into your fingers or under your fingernails, doesn't get into your lungs. Lungs are bad time. The original PCB substrate is glass fibre continuous mat saturated with epoxy, but there is enough structure in the rest of the PCB to carry it, adding glass fibre to a small patch like that won't make a difference i think and you'd rather have the patch more flexible than too rigid, so i don't think adding glass is helpful, it's even more likely to tear up at the connection since your patch isn't continuous fibre with the rest of PCB.
      One choice is to use "UV Soldermask" resin. You can get a 400nm flashlight that's good for it to set it instantly, or UV gel fingernail curing light. Use thin layers, but eventually it'll cure through once kicked off.
      I'd just use 5minute epoxy in a pinch, and help it along with a little hot air, very little heat and keep the PCB at like 60-80°C. You can even layer new copper on top and rebuild components as well if you like.

    Computer fans that dont spin properly can be taken apart and greased and they will work like new. The fan is attatched to a metal pin that goes in to a small bearing. Under the label is a lock washer that you have to remove first and then pull the blade out. Its always good to use WD40 to free the fan blade pin once you have removed the lock washer. WD 40 will also clean the dried grease before you put fresh grease.
