I remember Big Dick Johnson. I worked with him a few times in the indies. His character was made by a guy named Jed who basically had this guy brought to him by Ivan (Chi Town T) of PRW back when it was called IUWA. He told Jed "his name is Big Dick Johnson. Come up with a character.", and Jed did the best he could. And yeah he was kind of a dick. Wasn't half bad in the ring then, but definitely a major douche. I hadn't heard that name in forever.

Like a 138 year old woman is really any stranger than an actual Dead Man, a Mummy or a literal Lveiathan from the darkest depths lol

When did Mil Muertes supposedly "eat" people? Never heard of that. Lucha Underground is weird and more of a sci-fi soap opera, but not quite as bad as Corny makes it here. The Sexy Star stuff is a huge pile of bullshit though. In general, it's sad that it declined so much after the good first 1 1/2 seasons.

Upon further review, I think Cornette did not speak of Mil Muertes but Matanza; and it was indeed hinted that he not only "needed" to fight some random jobbers in a "backstage" segment but also "needed" them fur sustenance.

@@needycatproductions6830 You could say that Mil did eat the souls of his Disciples (Cant recall their names) he sucked their souls out one by one....as to Mantanza it was implied he ate Rey Mysterio

what started out good in the first season with decent matches but stupid out of ring stories was totally destroyed by the second season with just awful creative
I did not mind sexy star as the champ. she was so over with the fans they erupted when she won but that was destroyed by her losing it the next night. it hurt mils Muertos heat her pops and did jack squad for Johnny morrison other than making him the champ. classic heel to heel title exchange through a face. just the wrong face.
personally I think everyone starting doing drugs and watching the end product on acid. even then nothing would have made sense.

And amazingly, this show got a 4th season. The shittiest thing about it in my oppinion, is they do have some genuinely good talent. A lot of whom are in Impact now also, which shines an even brighter spot light on the shitty writing of LU. As some have said, I thought the first season wasn't bad, as even though you go in knowing it's scripted, and there's a "supernatural" angle to it, in the first and even to a lesser degree in the second it was written as if there waa real consequence to the matchs, like it was fucking pit fighting. But the writing got worse and by the 3rd season I was turning it off half way through, (this was watching 1st and second season on Netflix, so I binge watched to get through it) By the third season it was laughable. Even with legit talent like Morrison , Cage, Mack, Konnan as a manager and briefly Rey freaking Mysterio, this shit kept getting worse! I watched one hardcore match on one ep this season, uh no. To quote Corny, " Thank you, Fuck you, bye.

I disagree with jim on this because it's a fictional show about pro wrestling it's not meant to be real pro wrestling. It's the wrestling entertainment stuff Jim hates but for what Lucha Underground is which is a TV show it does it very well using drama and and story.

I liked some of the things LU had to offer some aspects of it but a lot of shit didn't make sense to me. I just watched it for the talent and the wrestling for the most part and the vampire pentagon Jr story was cool
