    Hi Jennifer! Thanks! Input! I enjoyed this lesson, superb tips! My favorite way to get input in English language learning is to watch my favorite reality TV programs, documentaries, and drama-docs in English without subtitles. Hence, I learn more everyday English, which is essential.
    Brilliant adage: “Knowledge is only potential power, action is power”. The way I see it is that if you focus too much on input, you may lose some of your potential as your speaking skills don't quite cut the mustard. Personally, my Achilles' heel is mainly English language speaking skills, so I've recently tried to concentrate on that. I'm glad, I've made some progress. Thanks to your splendid tip, I've used a random question generator and a random idiom generator to boost my output. They are helpful.
    I agree, many times students get too much input. As for me, that's true! Way back when I was at school, we focused mainly on input. Therefore, my writing, reading, and listening skills were OK, but my English language speaking skills were pretty basic.
    When it comes to planning output during your teaching sessions, I'd say one way to practice output is to comment on the current topic. I've noticed that repeating sentences, making one's own sentences, and saying them out loud is an excellent way to level up English language speaking skills!

    My idea for maximizing input is to change the smartphone settings to English. I have been doing this for seven years and even read Japanese promoting emails in English. It makes more sense for me than reading the original Japanese sentences because I read the sentences more carefully. Thank you for the tips!

    My thoughts on using movies, TV, and videos as input. There are three levels. The first is watching the content with subtitles in one's native language. The next level is watching the content with subtitles in the target language. The third level is watching the content without subtitles.
    Each of the levels can have value. The value of a given level depends on what level of a person is in the progress for learning the target language. The lowest level is obviously to watch the content with subtitles in one's native language, and this would be for beginners. The highest level is to watch the content without subtitles, and this would be for language learners at a relatively high level. One could, of course, overlap the exposure e.g. for someone at a given level it could be watching some content with subtitles in one's native language and watching other content with subtitles in the target language.
    Does this sound reasonable?

      @JForrestEnglish  2 місяці тому +1

    Yeah Jennifer, there are two things that are essential, relevant, important and fundamental to become fluent and confident and those are;
    - Studying 20%.
    AND.
    - Practicing A LOT 80%.
    And it's scientifically proven to be the best method of all.
    It's as if you wanted to learn how to play the piano, you gotta study music and then you have to sit in front of a piano and start playing and this happens with almost all areas of knowledge, as simple as that.
