Nobl Wheels fan here, working on a set of TR37 laced to Chris Kings for myself and TR32 laced to Hydra for my girlfriend. That being said, there's something I felt compelled to address about this video. Now, I'm not a weight weenie, but there's some error, either in your source, or the Onyx official website for the weight of those hubs. The Vesper is definitely not that close in weight to the Hydra hubs according to I-9 and Onyx websites. These are for Boost 6-bolt hubs: Onyx Classic are 227g (front) + 473g (rear) = 700g total (NOT 590g as listed in the chart) Onyx Vesper are 176g (front) + 408g (rear) = 584g total (NOT 460g as listed in the chart) I-9 Hydra are 165g (front) + 286g (rear) = 451g total (w/i reasonable margin to the chart) Granted, these are from official I-9 and Onyx websites at the time of this post, and I'm sure they aren't perfectly accurate, but the difference of 110g to 120g is quite significant. Have I made a mistake somewhere? Or perhaps the websites from I-9 and Onyx are wrong? Or maybe someone just made an error with the graphics on the video. Regardless, I thought I should mention it if anyone out there was using this video for information to pick their hubs. Otherwise, great video. Sorry to nit pick.
Well said. I'm a Onyx Classic guy myself on a 2 sets of your TR 38's. 27.5 and 29. I have to say both are exceptionally strong wheels for aggressive "not always the best line choice", MTB trail riding. Adding my CushCore inserts gives my that extra vote of confidence that I will make it back to the trailhead regardless the trail I'm on. Huge thanks to Paul and the NOBLE team for their help in selecting the best combination for my riding. NOBL will take the time to help you tailor your build to your needs. Pro 4 made in the UK can be made cheaper because they are an established brand which doesn't have debt on its books for CNC machines. They also handle the mud much better than ALL the others. The price difference between all the others and the Pro 4 CANNOT be justified in quality terms or reliability.
I’ve been running (2) sets of Pro4’s for years on my hardtails. Never had any issues with them. For the price they are hard to beat. My current wheel set has been run single speed for the past two years. My only issue is I wish they had a higher engagement point. I never took note of it until I went single speed. Now I’m looking at building a set of Industry9 though.
@@matthewkuhl79 I’m running the standard Pro4’s and not the single speed version. Also I’m not a little dude at 250lbs and have been pounding on them for two years now single speeding. I have around 1500 miles on the hubs now. Just a little more background info.
Hey Francis, here is a video on the different J-bend spokes we use/recommend. ua-cam.com/video/WjVYqzLVpMo/v-deo.html J-bend spokes are usually easier to find in your local bike shop as they are a popular choice.
If you are a Weight Weenie then they aren't the best choice. Weight isn7t so important for me. Durability and serviceability are important, so Chris Kings are a great choice.
