That was some cold front coming in with a nice squall! I'm sure it was "nice" and cold after that did what it did with the wind behind it.
The clouds look to me to be a shelf cloud surrounding a rain core. These are mostly seen during severe weather in the summertime when cold and dense air is forced into a warmer air mass by wind. The core is rain and snow coming down from the center of the storm. In supercells (Google them!), these cores have hail, lots of rain, and sometimes tornados embedded in them. In supercells, the rain core can contain huge hail - I've seen hail up to grapefruit size, but it can be even bigger. This isn't a supercell, so don't worry!
Shelf clouds are harmless but they look scary and are way cool to see. Check out videos by Roger Hill (Silver Lining Tours) and Daniel Shaw.

Dank je hiervoor - een regelmatige route voor me. Kleine nitpick: het eerste Rotterdamse station was een tijdelijk, houten exemplaar op het Slagveld, iets westelijk van het huidige Centraal. Het eerste Delftsche Poort ging een jaar later in bedrijf, in 1848. Maar mijn favoriete Rotterdamse station is Boerengat, letterlijk een houten concertzaal die als station werd ingezet van 1855 tot 1858, toen er naar het Maasstation kon worden doorgereden.

ProRail is van plan om de stations in 2026 en 2027 op te gaan knappen Ook erkent ProRail dat de stations verouderd zijn. De stations van Nieuwerkerk en Capelle zijn enkele van de oudste stations op het traject.

There are many different types of cloud, such as cirrus (the thin high-altitude type), cumulus (the usual "fluffy" clouds), stratus (overcast), and the famous cumulonimbus (associated with thunderstorms). This is probably its less-developed cousin, a nimbus cloud - which my dictionary defines as "a large grey raincloud".

Hi! It is reletively hard to define a cloudtype in this situation. What you an see in the beginnig of the video is, that there is a well defined dark area below the cloud, which tell us, that there's heavy pracipitation in a relatively small, well defined area on the ground. This is typical for showers. Showers are mainly produced by cumulonimbus clouds. Sometimes also by cumulus congestus clouds. The form of the cloud could not be discerned because of the other clouds around it which hid it from view. greetings from Vienna!

Waarom zakte de snelheidsmeter zo ver vóór station Gouda tijdens het afremmen van de trein voor het groene sein met snelheidsbord 80 km/u? Is dat een foutje in de software, of hoe wordt die snelheidsmeter aangestuurd?
Ik denk dat het een GPS snelheidsmeter is en dat die 't signaal even kwijt was
Ik neem de snelheid via gps op en dat is soms wat onnauwkeurig.
Waarvoor is de installatie die je op 14:16 passeert?

Op het eind leken een hoop reizigers in de veronderstelling dat de DDZ en ICM gecombineerd zouden worden gezien ze bij de deuren van de ICM bleven wachten 😀

its not a old crossing, it is used for railvehicles when ther nede to be maintenance on the line. (trucks and excavators etc..)

I'm glad it worked out for you. It seems to have worked out for me. I still have other therapy but that's dropping down to a pill-a-day. So it seems we both may have dodged a big (COVID?) bullet. (...be that side effect of vaccine, COVID itself, deferred medical treatment during the lockdowns, or totally unrelated.) Somehow I cannot imagine you with a cute pink ribbon.... I just wanted out of there so bad I forgot to pick up mine.

I heb een vraagje.
Ik heb video's gezien van de lijnen die de grens oversteken.
Het lijkt erop dat U moet oversteken om links te rijden zodra U Nederland verlaat.
En ook, moeten uwe collega's andre talen spreken?
Bijvoorbeld, na Maastricht moet ik frans spreken (als ik reis met mijn kaart Interail Benelux).
En uwe collega's - moeten ze duits spreken als ze naar Dusseldorf (bijvoorbeld) rijden?

Ik denk dat het inderdaad een vereiste is dat je de lokale taal goed kunt spreken.
Is het buiten dat je zicht belemmerd wordt nog echt een groot verschil om in deze ermbarmelijke weersomstandigheden te rijden?
Op mijn scooter sta ik altijd met dit weer doodsangsten uit, maar dat kan ook wel komen omdat ik de hagel recht in mijn gezicht krijg en dat maakt rijden helemaal tot een hel. In een trein heb je dan nog een ruit tussen de hagel in je gezicht zitten.
Geen probleem, alleen maar mooi :-)

Waarom heb je 2x de lijn naar alphen aan de rijn? Op maps zag ik dat ie afsplitste en weer terugkwam. Weet iemand waarom?
Chronologisch samengevat:
- Eerste spoorbrug over de Gouwe (richting Rotterdam, later ook Den Haag) geopend in 1855 op de zuidelijke locatie
- Gouwe gekanaliseerd, scheepvaart groeit, spoor naar het noorden omgelegd met een nieuwe, hogere spoorbrug (geopend 1911)
- Lijn naar Alphen geopend 1934, splitste af voorbij de brug
- Treinverkeer èn scheepvaart groeien, brug uit 1911 niet meer toereikend. Nieuwe viersporige hefbrug op de zuidelijke locatie (de spoordijken lagen er nog) geopend 1989
- Ontvlechting van de lijn naar Alphen via het _noordelijke_ tracé en een nieuwe enkelsporige brug (geopend 1997)
