I've had an N+1 for about three years. I continue to be amazed how compliant the bike is off-road, a feel similar to an '80's mtb,.Yet as soon as you ride on-road you're on something more like my Bianchi carbon race bike! The beauty of the manipulation possible with carbon lay up's. I ride primarily off-road with it and take on some pretty technical trails. I once had 17th on KOM for the year on a particularly rocky downhill on the Vielo. Doesn't sound much until you look at what was quicker. All big travel mtb's and there was only a handful of seconds in it. I still love it and rave about it even though the "new bike syndrome" has long gone. My only regret is my version 1 doesn't have that amazing 50mm clearance in 700C.
Such a refreshing change to see such an honest, open review. I'm just glad you're finally getting on with it. It could've easily turned out to be a massive waste of money.
Last point is the most important - mind riding where you do in half decent weather would always bring a smile to my face!!!!!! Great review - better start saving.
It’s a beautiful bike with some stunning touches. 4k is a little strong for me, hence why I went for the Camino but in aluminium. However it’s all about getting out, so vive Le difference
The Vielo is a beautiful looking bike Simon, and obviously rides as well as it looks. I would love to explore that direction but will stick to my Ti Tempest, it looks to have a similarly ‘racy’ riding position and can also take a 700c x 50 tyre. I currently have the 43mm Rock and Roads on it for winter gravel riding, some 32mm road tyres on a pair of Roval wheels for road riding, and a pair of Hutchinson Override’s in 700 x 45 for summer gravel mounted on WTB rims. I recently found out that the Rock and Roads are available in 700 x 48 in tubeless ready but currently only in the USA-I have been really impressed with their grip, comfort, and fast rolling on the road in the 43mm size so will get a pair when I visit my daughter in Iowa next year.
I’ve just come back to this review tonight, really enjoyed it the second time and I too have that bike I go too that’s also made my road bike sort of redundant. I’m running sram force 1 x 11 mechanical and my question is are you sold by the AXS as I’m contemplating upgrading to that in the new year, hoping to make the bike that makes me smile even better?
If I’m honest, no. The 2x AXS I had on the demo FARA bike I recently to review was very smooth. This 1x sometimes feels like - occasionally - it doesn’t engage smoothly. It’s in the LBS trying to get to the bottom of it. A friend rode it with the same question you have and he ended up up-grading to electronic.
@@alwaysanotheradventure thanks Simon, thats interesting and as I’ve heard mixed reviews on the AXS front mechs, I’m looking at going XPLR with a 40T upfront and a 10-44 cassette, Hope you get the issues sorted be interesting to find out the outcome.

Nice video but I think I'll stick with my Mason Bokeh. 15k plus in the past year its now a very comfortable ride as well as my go to bike when deciding which bike I own to ride. I guess its a Persian choice - what works for one may not work for another. I use it as a winter trainer, bike backing rig and a off road machine.
How do you like the 50c gravel tires? My gravel bike came with 32c tires & I have plenty of clearance to run 50c tires & am looking to buy a set. I will have to get tubes for 50c too.
This bike would suit my riding perfectly. I've got an Scott Addict Gravel 10 on order which is another fast gravel bike like the Vielo so should I wait for the Scott or swap? The Veilo is considerably more money and I wish there were more build options with gear choice because I've no need for a mullet set-up. I got plenty of time to think they Scott is still months away.
You might want to ring Ian and Trevor at Vielo and chat. Ian was the man who brought Scott to the UK so he knows the brand well. They’re both very approachable.
Seen the comments here £500 versus £5k which sounds like a good possible future video. How about when you fix up your old mountain bike have a gravel circuit and compare times between the old mtb and your Vielo?
It’s amazing what they are doing with carbon! With those leaf spring seat stays, the wide 700x50c clearance are a great added bonus with big tires to add to the stability on ruff terrain. I’d be interested to see how it reacts with 650b rims and Mtn bike tires for extreme weather conditions.

Price increases with bikes in relation to clear improvements in the bike itself diminish incrimentally the higher you go.
