Late Season GOOSE HUNT (Honker Beatdown)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лют 2023
- As goose season was winding down, we hit the road to join up with our friends for a feet down beat down on some big honkers. We set up a mixed spread of stuffer decoys, Dave Smith Decoys and Drop Zone Elites. With minimal calling, we had them landing on top of us!

Great hunt! Great to see you on the channel Trent !!!!
My dad is the guy that used to paint the drop zones before the business closed down. We still use em. Great decoys to use
The intro gave me goosebumps! Something special about letting birds finish in total silence when all you hear is wings. I’ve hunted with some great callers, but IMO the best ones know when to shut up!
glad to see most of the born an raise guys on this hunt great shooting .Trent you can do it just shoot in amongst them lol
Great to see you out there Trent, always adding humor and sensibility to the hunts...lol Awesome shots with the camera guys, reminded me of Wisconsin without the snow. Love what ya'll are doing ❤️
Lovely hunting guys I really enjoyed ❤❤❤
That's some awesome shooting, would be so much fun
Nice shoot!! Love the stuffers!!
Great video.
Slammed the Birds on Saturday In Clatsop Co....Lots of Snows showing too...Come on up and hunt the farm..!!!
Sounds like fun!
Got my first Canadian this year. It was a great day. Missing sparkles to run them down.
Awesome video love seeing geese fall congrats guys
what a shoot!
Nice shooting
You guys need to hit the shooting range... hammering into those big flocks and only a few birds dropping is not what I call feet down.
This is the hunt I want to win, I’m out of eastern oregon and that fog did killer for us once it lifted
What camera were you using?
Do you guys gut your guys geese?
You guys need Labrador retriever
Hi Strand, I noticed you guys are using Retay shotguns exclusively. I am looking to purchase a new waterfowl shotgun soon and I would welcome your advice and recommendations. I know Retay is based in Easton, MD so I would be interested in what you think about them. Thanks.
We’ve been using them all season, both 20 and 12 gauge with no issues. They point really well, smooth trigger pull and the action is quick and consistent
@@TheFlyway Awesome. Thanks so much for the feedback.
You seem to be quite a long way out from your decoys? You'd make life much easier for yourself if you got closer to your spread.
As the season progresses our birds get more and more conditioned to being hunted from the edge of the field. If you put your decoys too close to the edge it looks unnatural and birds get real punchy around the spread
We usually put our closest decoy around 20-25 yards and farthest around 40 yards with the goal of getting them to land in the pocket or pass between us and the decoys
Wow shooting towards the road?
Probably hard to tell on the video but it’s almost 1,000 yards to the road. Wide open country
Yeah the BBs won’t even come close to the road. And even if they did, they wouldn’t do any more damage than a large mosquito for that distance
Hi
Nice Hunt Guys !
How do you Cook them, can you please show me?

Let me count the ways!!! Slow, cook in a crockpot, shred and add your favorite barbecue sauce for pulled goose sandwiches. Sliced thin for either goose stroganoff or goose fajitas. Yum. Marinated chunks of goose with cream cheese and jalapeño wrapped in bacon for the grill. Pluck the whole bird and oven roast. Wrap whole skinless breast in bacon and grill to no more than medium rare!!!! Cut into thin strips and marinate in soy sauce for killer jerky. Grind breast and leg meat for salami and hunter sticks. Add cheese or jalapeño to your liking. Hope this helps.
@@jackmasters9953 Thank you so much 🔥.
I called up my buddy , asked Him how to cook a Honker. He said put it in a Cast iron skillet, Cook it till the Cast iron skillet is tender hahaha
