This is actually a growing fandom about an imposter name Mr. Blue and a mini crewmate named Orange, so don't worry Mr. Blue didn't kill Orange.
There are 2 imposters as well, maybe blue watched oranges mom being killed by imposter #2 and protected mini orange because he couldnt watch her get killed

Theoretically, the air is a mixture of gasses comprising the atmosphere, so it can be without oxygen.
Here it was just a mental shortcut tho.

An Imposter showing remorse when one of his victims had a kid. So he decided to take him in, at least long enough for him to get back to safety.
That’s both Wholesome and dark.
EDIT: I also like to think the other Imposter killed Orange, and Blue felt sorry for the kid when/if he’d die, as other people theorized. Blue’s not the kind of monster who’s completely irredeemable, so earlier on, he called an emergency meeting to vote off the other Imposter (who did the kill), then sabotaged the oxygen filters because he still had a job to do.
But he was only willing to kill the adults. He didn’t know there was a child on board and was worried about him, both for his physical well-being and mental state if/when he found out about Orange. Fast-forward to now, and he was able to get the kid to safety via some method we don’t know (I like to think they spacewalked).
For added bonus feels, these Imposters probably had a clan on their home-world(s), but this crew killed them, either intentionally or accidentally. They both swore vengeance and infiltrated the ship, but the other guy was too overcome with rage to have a level head, wanting to sic some karma onto the entire crew just like how they did to their clan. Blue was also angry, but he had enough remorse to realize that they’d be no better that the Crew if they also killed the kid; he was just there on a trip with his mom and didn’t have anything to do with the incident, especially after either he or the other guy killed Orange. Cut to Blue making an Emergency Meeting, voting off the other guy, and sabotaging the oxygen supply. He figured this was the best way to kill everyone while A) keeping plausible deniability and making it seem like accidental negligence, and B) making sure that the kid not only escapes, but also isn’t traumatized.
Blue was only a monster in-species only. He was only focused on the main Crew and didn’t want any innocents to die, especially the kid. He had enough of a heart to spare and save him from the deadly situation, if only long enough to get him back to safety.
Hearing him say 《this time》 broke me.
I refuse to believe that blue killed orange.
The other impostor probably killed Mrs. Orange

It's nice to see that even though he is a cold blooded monster who will kill anyone, he still has a heart and has mercy on the kid. This kind of feels like an introduction to a story or movie, and i like it.

Usually the Imp is portrayed as all bad, especially if the victim has a minicrewmate, i love how this one shows an imposter with a heart.
As unfortunate as it is, i really like the idea of Impostors adopting the kids/ minicrewmates of those they kill.

This is crazy and awesome
I really liked a fanfic I read that depicted the impostors as an alien species that was killing the crewmates in order to defend themselves because the crew's mission involved destroying the aliens' natural habitat, so the impostors were actually quite sympathetic, despite all of the killing. One of them actually felt quite bad about killing crewmates with whom they had started to bond over time. I can imagine a scenario like that, where the alien decides they need to kill the crew in order to protect their planet, but also wants to show mercy to the innocent, non-threatening youths.
