But does this not go against the armonic way of tuning where the major third should be played lower? How do you cope with that? Thanks in advance!

Actually thats the minor third the one who has to be played lower. Anyway this is an melodic way to tune, either than armonic. The excercise show us how to tune each note to work with the others in a melodic way while playing the scale.

​@@luciano.casalinoSorry for the late reply, just saw your answer. I'm used to the armonic tuning (specially for string quartet) so I find a bit weird to do Major thirds higher and minor ones lower (instead of the opposite)
