G'OATS Milk & Honey Cold Process Soap

In my first attempt at cold process soap making I learned a few things. The recipe will be ever-changing until I find the right combo of soaps/butters; I also learned that I'm not a huge fan of the scent of Shea Butter; and I believe the vitamin E is the culprit in making this recipe "sticky." It took a few days before I could unmold the loaf molds, but even after 24 hours the single bar molds were still soft and very sticky. I'll continue to come up with different oil ratios until I find the right one for me. Stay tuned...

You did great for first time and all that batter! Wow. You don't have to spray the inside of your mold.The outside it what you need to spray to prevent soda ash. I use a steamer to get rid of any ash on mine. The alcohol on the inside of your molds can make your unmolding sticky and too damp in the process.

Thanks so much for the info, I think my soaps have ash because I haven’t yet used a water discount. I’ll have to purchase a steamer for times when my soaps are ashy.

Nice video. I don't add vitamin E. I do add Caster oil. It helped make a hard bar. Also add the colloidal oats before I add the lye.
Can you make smaller batches until you peg down the recipe? The wooden molds hold 1000 grams, so that is enough.
Also 2 tsp of sodium lactate helps.

I have a couple recipes I’d like to try that I ran through soapcalc, and yes the recipe will be enough to fit the mold. But these bars I’ve created the first time around will be Christmas gifts.
