    Used a standard grip and ripped every hybrid shot with this technique. Thanks.
    I start bowing on the downswing, not backswing.

    OMG, This video was very helpful, I just started working on the bowed wrist and couldn't figure out why I was so closed. It was because of my strong grip. I've been playing golf for 25 years and this is one of the most repeatable swings i've had. Thanks for making it simple.

      Awesome! I’m glad the video really helped! Absolutely, a standard or weak grip is the way to go with a bowed left wrist 🤙🏻 When everything is matched up, it works extremely well! Thanks for watching Marcel!

    I've been working on this move with my instructor. I have always had a very strong grip and had problems with casting and hitting the ball left. It is counterintuitive, but I'm hitting the ball straight with the bowed wrist because it makes it impossible to flip. It also helps keeps you in posture. Not sure why. Only draw back so far is left wrist is a little sore. This chowngolf guy is fantastic. Huge fan.

    I always had trouble hitting my long irons. I am completely amazed how easy this is to do and how pure I hit my long irons now by bowing the wrist. I had no idea. Wow. Thank you !!!

    Between this and one of your short backswing videos, I may not quit golf after 40 years of playing. I’ve struggled with early extension for 5-6 years now and have been at my wit’s end. Took this to the range this morning and was able to hit good shots. Hoping this sticks. Thank you!

    As a one handicapper I’m always trying to alter things for consistent ball striking - bowing the wrist is and has been a game changer for my game - you must still rotate ur body but the distance I’ve gained with bowing the wrist is about 20yds per club - v good drill with the tee in the glove 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

    Just found this video after my round on Sunday.. One of my playing partners noticed on one of my practice swings that my wrist was bowed the wrong way... He showed me this Bowing and on the next tee shot (I know, the course is not where I should work on this) I tried it and hit the ball dead straight where I was fadeing/slicing everything. Had to search UA-cam to make sure he knew what he was talking about, and after watching this video, I know I'm on the right track. Just subbed, and will be watching the rest of your videos tomorrow

    This is how I started golf teaching myself from hogan’s book (all that wrist supination to target at impact stuff). Strengthening my grip got me easier compression and distance but at the expense of good body movement. Now I’m in single figures and all I want is to get back to neutral grip bowing so I can have fewer hooks. When I do that I get rotation shallowing bent right arm impact and all the good stuff - but just can’t stop leaving the club face too open. Will try this and hopefully be able to get back to the original swing. Cheers chap!

      @@jchowngolf Just got back from the range. I've never hit such piercing, boring shots in my life. The key was the weaker grip at setup. I've tried to bow my left wrist in transition many times, but I always duck hooked the ball. The weaker grip (and higher hands in backswing), gave me room to bow the wrist in transition. I've never rotated this much in the downswing either. Thank you!

    I started practising using a bowed wrist during the lockdowns forced on us by covid 19 It worked well gave me back the distance I'd lost with my irons and the ball turf contact .I couldn't wait for the course to open and start playing unfortunately when I did I just couldn't get the results I'd been getting and haven't been able to figure out why ....???

    I have a very long backswing (and I tend to come in steep over the top) and am trying to shorten it since I think it will help produce more consistent ball striking. Will bowing the left wrist help me with this? I feel like my backswing will be farther behind my head and give me a more shallow attack angle. Thoughts?

    • @MrCheetah440
      @MrCheetah440 3 роки тому

      Depends. I always struggled with what I thought was an over swing but the real problem was I was cupping my left wrist too much causing me to be long and across the line almost like Wolff. I was able to reroute and be effective but suffered as I tried to shorted the swing. It really wasn't a matter or being too long but the cupped wrist, so as I tried to shorted, it was a disaster, stuck in no mans land. I started tinkering with the wrist a few years ago and for me was a eureka moment as this both shortened my swing and got me on a better plane at the top.

    I just started using this technique a couple of days ago, and I'm amazed at how well it works to produce strong, controlled impact. I'm currently experimenting with not holding the bow all the way to impact. I feel like there's a point in the downswing where the momentum of the club wants me to let loose, and this seems to be working amazingly well. My intuition is that if I were to hold the bow all the way through impact, I would be losing power, because I'm interfering with my wrists and the flow of the club around the circle. But I will experiment more with holding it all the way, and see which really is better for me.

    I have been playing for years and bowing the wrist really has been the game changer for me.
    I am surprised left wrist flection isn't a more widely talked about function in golf instruction. I guess it's harder to understand the movement if you are a higher handicap player who needs to work on overall action and body rotation etc first.
    Good video mate.

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  3 роки тому

    Just subscribed because you are showing alot of things I am trying to work on. especially the bowed left wrist. But amazingly enough, I still have a decent slice/fade going. Would that be because to a 'too strong' grip and my body subconsciously knowing I would pull it?

      DJ matches it up with a massive amount of rotation and speed. Not achievable for 99.9% of the golf population. Morikawa, Spieth and Rahm are players to watch with a bowed lead wrist that’s more achievable for golfers.

      What happens if the hands are passive doing nothing to close face thru impact. If you have a weak grip (ball would start right normally) you can still close the face if your hands are over active. Try quieting the hands.
