I'm glad you were able to help, this was a situation where the old folks clearly loved their animals but were beset by tragedy and entered a downward spiral, with no plan for what would happen to the animals once they were no longer there to care for them.
That's so heartbreaking the conditions the cat's were rescued from, some of these videos make me cry, I'm so glad there are conservations and organizations like big cat rescue out there
Enrichment is giving the cats various things to do to keep their minds and bodies stimulated and break up the monotony and boredom of captive life. Keeping their minds busy makes for a healthier more relaxed cat. It is sad they have to live in captivity so we do everything we can to make their lives as fulfilled as possible.
Thank-you big cat rescue, the cougars looked so forlorn on the private residence with only tiny dog igloos to stay in rainy or cold weather. They look much more psychologically and physically happier at their new home at Big Cat rescue. I already donate about 20% of my income to a couple of wildlife sanctuaries in British Columbia but you people are doing wonderful work, it must be so rewarding, cougars are so emotional, are overall just great animals.
May the previous owners rest in peace. I'm sure they never meant harm to the big cats after their realization. May Simba rest in peace as well. I don't think he meant to harm his owner; he was probably very frightened during the events afterwards. I hope he is at peace :)
Water , correct biting and pawing is what big cats do to assert dominance. unfortunately for humans it doesn't work out too well. we don't have the protective fur and thick skin.
You guys are absolutely awesome!!! I love your updates about the work you're doing - which is phenomenal. As a major cat lover, I can't tell you how grateful I am to you for your efforts in rescuing these incredibly intelligent and beautiful beings. Blessings.
A shame about the former owners and Simba. It seemed they really did care about the cats very much. And wisely decided that the best interests would be served by not breeding them. A tragic story that fortunately did not become more tragic.
If they cared about them they wouldn't have had them in the first place, they wouldn't have forced them to live in tiny little cages, starving and the only protection was a tiny little dog house. It's unfortunate that they ended up dying, I agree with that. But saying that they "cared" about those animals is just false. They were animal abusers, there's nothing more to it.
I'm so happy to see these two cougars recovered well. I'm so sad to hear the other was killed after he bit that guy. That couple shouldn't have been breeding them in the first place! Poor, innocent cougar lost it's life because of these ignorant, greedy "humans." I have no sympathy for people like that! Big Cat Rescue, keep up the amazing work :-)
Like most people I felt angry and sad for these animals but I also thank God that there are people like you at Big cat rescue that do something about it.So lovely to see those cats enjoying their freedom and good diet. I pray more people will report animals that are kept in captivity and neglected.
These beautiful creatures! People who confine and harm them like these idiots did need to be locked in a small cage and not fed for days on end. Thankyou Big Cat Rescue for getting them and giving them a life!
Being from Illinois, I remember hearing about them being rescued on the news! Interestingly enough, there have been several sightings of cougars in northern Illinois, including one from a vet. It's quite interesting to see them making their way further south. Anyways, I hope to visit sometime and keep up the outstanding work!
When I went to the Big Cat Rescue, all the cougars hid from us and wouldn't come out. The tigers and lions weren't afraid of us, and the leopards were also out. One ran up his tree which was really cute, and TJ the tiger made all kinds of funny sounds.
That sounds about right for a cougar. They are actually a very shy cat. Most of the time, you don’t see them, but they see you. If you see a cougar, it’s because they let you see them…..or they want you to go away NOW.
Aw....4:19 is sweet. He's clearly like "What the heck is all this open space??? You mean I can just walk around here? Very confusing...gimme a second."
What a WONDERFUL story! I love the look they had when they first stepped out onto the grass. Thank you so very much for all you do for these magnificent cats.
I love you for what you do for this magnificent cats!! Had to share this on Facebook!! Happy New Year to you, as well as all the furry residents at Big Cat Rescue!!
If you go to BigCatRescue. org and click on the menu item "Big Cat Photos and Facts" then click on the big blue button that says "Big Cat Residents" you can see a list of all the cats here, listed by species and then by name. From there you can read their individual stories.
You are doing such a great job. I really look forward to seeing all your posts on youtube as its so insightful to see the wonderful work you do. Every time I'm in the Tampa area I love coming for a visit. Thank you for taking care of these amazing animals.
@MagicalMotherRabbit Thanks for watching! Unfortunately the state of Louisiana renewed the permit condemning Tony to the truck stop for at least another year :( We won't give up the fight though!!
@MeerKat186 I guess they didn't want to take that chance, lions are very tough and he was next to almost 300,000 acres of forest, the lion could have disappeared forever!
People are so stupid!! thank you for rescue. They had them in totally unnatural conditions! Thank you so much for your hard work and out of the box thinking! Thank you even more for nor traqulizing!! Cougars are my fav❣I'm subing
Good question, our presidents was able to bond with Freddy over time and when he would rub on the side of his enclosure she was able to undo the buckle of his collar ..... over time! :)
Big Cat Rescue ROCKS!! Thanks guys for the amazing work done. Just love the final wowrrrrr at the end of that clip, kind of says it all. Wish I could visit your compound, and should I ever get to the States one day I most certainly will!
LOL... I think you are the first one who has asked that. If they have very far to go the staff are usually prepared with someway to clean it up without taking the cat out and without reaching their arms in.
@Razedbywolves1 The wolves weren't on the property when we rescued Freddy and Sassyfrass, they were long gone by the looks of things and we're not sure where they went ??
AWESOME BIG BEAUTIFUL MAJESTIC ANIMALS. My neighbor had 2 of them...still does but moved to a bigger home for them. They were actually very sweet and playful. No signs of aggression what so ever. Its awe inspiring to pet and play with these animals. He actually let them inside most nights and they were like huge lap kitties..lol. Keeping them well fed, understanding them, and lotsa love is imperative to their happiness
Thankfully their are some very dedicated people to help these poor animals.
God Bless all of you❤️🙏🏼✝️🫶🏻
It makes me SO angry and sad that people are so cruel to animals. Thank you BCR for helping them!

Big Cat Rescue I recommend for your next enrichment project, I suggest mint. It's related to catnip, so I'm curious to see what would happen
Thank you to all the people who make your organization such a success!
They look so happy in their new enclosure with pool. So glad there r ppl who can give these gorgeous cats some semblance of life.

such a sad story, one died, another and another, I'm happy that you could help the cats.
Omg Freddy Cougar
What they did there. I see it.
how did i not realize that!
May the previous owners rest in peace. I'm sure they never meant harm to the big cats after their realization.

Or it was instincts which always happens in a big cats life

You people are doing the best job towards the animals on behalf of the mankind. God bless you 🙏

A very sad story with a happy ending. What you guys do is awesome...Thanks for taking in these beautiful cats.

@@thellamacorn8902 The cages were terrible.
No they didn’t they had small cages
@@thellamacorn8902 You are so right in everything you wrote.
I can´t believe that something like that is possible in the US. Poor cats.
Great to hear that Freddy ans Sassyfrass enjoy their new home. They look happy and healthy! :)

Why would the previous owner's put a collar on, Freddy. He is not a dog or cat.
You can tell by my picture I love lions, like Cameron and Joesph
Possibly to let people know he was owned
*owners
They are beautiful. Thanks for rescuing them. It just makes my mind boggle on why people think cougars are pets in the first place.
Now they are finally safe. ♥

@horse14t It was a Field Volunteer at the Mountain Lion Foundation (MLF)

I love how they have a sign that said these are not pets they are wild animals then you see how they are treated
@Woad25 That was one of our senior staff members who worked with Freddy, he got comfortable with people very quickly so that made it easier :)
thats so wonderful! :D
