This is the message from Kate: Dear Brisbane Pub Choir, I’ve been so busy that I’ve only just had the chance to watch you all singing RUTH. It’s utterly, utterly wonderful! I love it so much! Thank you everyone. You sing it really beautifully. I’m incredibly touched by your warmth and all your smiling faces. Thank you!” With lots of love, Kate.
I was in the crowd. What an awesome night. Left on such a high. Who needs drugs when you can do this. Amazing job getting a group of random peeps to sing such beautiful harmonies. Love your work Astrid in conducting this & everyone else involved. Can’t wait for the next event
That most have been so thrilling, and magical. It literally makes me cry just seeing such a large group of ppl all collectively sharing one experience, the fact that a ton of you, completely strangers at that, all are sharing a core memory. The amount of love and harmony that seems too be in that room, gosh, it’s overwhelming. I’m so happy you got to experience this.
@@johnathanjoseph2388 yes it was incredible. Imagine how much the world would change with more of these type experiences. Hopefully you can make it along to one. :)
I've watched this three times now and I cried each time. 60 year old man in London who loves this song and now this performance. Long may the pub choir continue
If anyone is sadly suffering from depression please watch this it's better than any prescriptions drugs truly it will make you so much better about yourself ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Maybe this is something we should all start doing everywhere in the world….simply singing together…”singalong get togethers”, more smiles, more joy, more fun, less violence…
I've played and replayed this. Maybe 50 times. Conservative estimate. Constant repetition has put it at the top of my UA-cam music playlist. Magic night. To have to live it vicariously is my regret. I feel like I know these people. If pressed, I might confess to maybe 26 crushes. Conservative estimate. Thanks to Kate Bush for a timeless song. Thanks to Astrid Jorgensen for an incredible interpretation. Thanks to the Fortitude Music Hall Pub Choir for a wonderfully heartfelt, charismatic performance. Thanks to the singer at 3:17 for the expressive Rah. Thanks to Sleepy Mountain Films for capturing the magic
It feels like the whole world is singing this song nowadays. It feels like a beacon of light at the end of the tunnel. I remember when I first discovered her and this song specifically, I felt like I had been saved from the darkest time in my life. It fills my heart with immense joy seeing this. God… love you Kate 💗
This gave me goosebumps. All these people coming together to sing this timeless classic is so inspiring and beautiful. We world is in desperate need of more moments like this. Thank you for the joy you have given us today!
These are my people! I've never been to Australia, but if I get a chance, this is the first place I'm going! Plus, I think this song now has the best viola part ever written.
WOW, this is like the greatest thing in seen in the last 20 years , shows what we as people can do when we dont have others trying to split us up into groups by color ,sexes ,and life styles . IF ONLY WE GOT ALONG LIKE THE ONES HERE. think how better of a people WE COULD AND WOULD BE.. get rid of the ones pushing us APART.
Amazing! Among the destruction, wars, poverty, global warming, all the hate and eveil of that world, the spark is being ignited... All because, old forgotten song of my childhood, which emerged with triumph for all young and old watching Stranger Things. Kate Bush won a ticket on lottery - YT and social media are flooded with lots of gigs and performances by many different artists and amateurs. And it is great! And I am so happy that Public Choir is among them. It is great, original approach. Well done! It is fantastic to live now and witness such glorious moments! ❤
Quite emotional watching so many generations singing and loving this song which has been a lifelong favourite of mine. Just wonderful. Thank you from 🇬🇧 xx
I love it!!! And I so hope Kate Bush sees this. I've loved her since... well, since this song, actually. I'm so damned happy to see it in the awareness of new generations. It meant a lot to me as a kid. It means even more to me now, as an adult.
Wow. What a powerful score. 🎶 I am blown away to tears. It's feels like Kate Bush wrote this song for the very moment Max ran up that hill to save herself with the help of her friends. Look at what the impact of that scene paired with this song brought about! Amazing. ♨️✨
Kate Bush, and particularly this song, is certainly youth sentiment for me. Seeing all those smiling faces singing together, just for the fun of it, is amazing. I used to be in the school choir in secondary school in the early 90s. It was fun to do for 2 or 3 years, but one of the reasons I quit was that our teacher and choir leader chose very old-fashioned music. The 'coolest' thing in the concerts was music from hís youth (The Beatles e.a) or an Elton John ballad. We actually asked for both Wuthering Heights - since the song was used during our English Lit classes - and Running up that Hill, after all most of us loved that song still back then & it has the potential for nice harmonies. I already knew back then I could forget about the chance to ever include Metallica, but that too Stranger Things fixed for me 🫡🤗🤘. I'm happy to see both have gotten new life. If it was up to me, more great 80s music would get a reprise/revival like Bush's song, whether through new covers, the original being replayed, or cute renditions like this. Well done, Brisbane.
How is this for synchronicity or mental telepathy? I was reading about this in yesterday's Friday, July 15 'The (Melbourne) Age' newspaper, page 15, today -' Kate Bush stuns choir from over the hill and far away', with a photo, by Cameron Atfield. I got up, turned on the computer to You Tube and there you all were exactly as in the photo. Wow! You all made my heart sing. What a beautiful blessing of loving goodwill you have given to Kate Bush and the world. Thank-you so much. It makes me proud to be an Aussie.
Nothing short of amazing flippin awesome my 1st single record I'd bout when I was a kid,Kate Bush was about 50 cents back than this is totally amazing love it. goosebumps
Wow! I've just stumbled across this and am so touched, it's gorgeous! Is there anywhere I could find the arrangement? I work with kids and this would just be perfect to do as a group! Thanks so much. X
To see legendary songs like this one and Master of Puppets coming back from the 80's and being a huge success really tell us how much we need good music!
This is just soooooo flipping amazing. Fantastic arrangement This is what singing is about-a spine tingly celebration of joy that brings people together 😍😍 xx
Brilliant stuff Astrid and Pub Choir. We'll be back in Oz for a few months over Christmas and really hope it coincides with a Pub Choir event in Brissie.
If you enjoyed this video or think this project is cool, and you’re not a musician, please speak up for the arts whenever you can. Speak up when people disparage what we do, vote against budget cuts that hurt the arts, and support/get involved with local organizations in your community!! Next time anyone tells me the arts are pointless or that my degree in music is pointless, I’m gonna point to this video. This is why I do what I do. (Also, mad props to this director. That they sound so good is a testament to her arranging/conducting/teaching abilities)
This is amazing. All the songs Astrid helps the crowd perform are so powerful and harmonious. I have loved and enjoyed Pub Choir performances I have come across on UA-cam heartily. I have a song suggestion- Good Day For Dreaming by Ruelle ❤❣ Thank you guys for this🥰😇
Such joy in an otherwise pretty miserable world at the present. Thanks for this. And as for the brilliance of Kate Bush, what can I say? Genius........

There’s another great Australian cover by the band The Wombats on like a version (part of a radio show) that’s worth listening to.
Yes Australia! 🇦🇺

I loved the addition of that "roar." A little Florence + The Machine touch. Nice job, Pub Choir! It looked like you had fun!
Please, please, please, tour. In each venue, collect a local orchestra. Two songs, intermission, two songs, intermission, one song, this as encore.
I’m aware that no one says this anymore but this was epic.

Kate is a legend. Truly fine music does not age. I was 17 when I first listened to her work. She's a poet. Like Browning. Every song is a story.
