  • CECAN Webinar: An update of the Medical Research Council (MRC) Framework for Developing and Evaluating Complex Interventions
Presenters: Kathryn Skivington & Laurence Moore (SPHSU)
    Webinar Overview:
Complex interventions are commonly used in the health and social care services, public health practice, and other areas of social and economic policy that have consequences for health. Examples include a new surgical procedure, the redesign of a healthcare programme, and a change in welfare policy. In this webinar Kathryn and Laurence will present their recent paper in BMJ, which updated a 2008 Medical Research Council framework for developing and evaluating complex interventions. They will discuss the motivations for updating this framework, including the need to discuss complexity and systems thinking more explicitly in the context of development and evaluation of interventions. They will introduce the key points of the framework, aiming to help researchers work with other stakeholders to identify the key questions about complex interventions, and to design and conduct research with a diversity of perspectives and appropriate choice of methods.
The BMJ paper is Open Access and can be found here: www.bmj.com/content/374/bmj.n...

Sooo... Laurence never got the examples he would've liked? Bummer, those would've interested me, too.
