Stephanie is so talented with her interpretation of window art, floors, and ceilings. Philip has very steady hands to make this an outstanding video. Thanks to both of you.
Both the filming and the narrative is done to perfection. Stephanie is very gifted .
I do so agree!
Wow Stephanie Philip, thank you for taking us along on this jorney so magnificent and magical. The colours me of your chaple what a time they must have had .
They make a great team. Someone should give them a show.
'electricity in the 1800's'
That was a Herculean restoration. Oh my goodness! So glad it was saved. And that bathroom!
I challenge anyone who has seen this vlog to resist taking the next train to Agde to visit this wonderful place! Never seen anything like it. Thanks, Stephanie for sharing this with us.
This just took my breath away!… it’s got me thinking of all the spectacular places Stephanie has visited ……I actually feel sorry for the people that are not on this vlog that miss out on these spectacular hidden gems!
for some reason this house remind me of some of the party scenes in the amazing film ‘The English patient ‘ although that was more Art Deco in design but for some reason it comes into my head when I look at the interior of this house.
It doesn't seem that this chateau could be any more beautiful, but your passion brings it even more to life.
Wow! He was a real visionary with regards to heating and cooling his Chateau. What a fella!
Clair de Lune was a pleasure to hear during your tour of this magnificent chateau.
What a mesmerizing place! Some people just realize the importance of color in our lives.
That bathroom was definitely the most amazingly beautiful bathroom I’ve ever seen. Thank you for bringing us all along!
Amazing house which was unknown to me. The stained glass windows and the wrought iron pieces are outstanding. Thank you for the visit!
Let me paint a picture of Poirot on holiday, he is staying with his friend Emmanuel. There he sits on the terrace in his white linen suit, sipping on his demitasse, enjoying the solitude and giving great thought to his latest case. Hastings comes barrelling through the garden, fresh from his morning sail, with a cheery ' what ho poirot old friend'. I could write an episode, that villa is an inspiration.
Thank you for your enlightening tour.
I know! It’s crying out to be a film set!
...and on the weekend, just when they thought there would be no mysteries to solve ...Isadora Duncan descends with a small bevy of dancing nymphs all in glorious colored silks and diaphanous gowns flowing through the hallways, stairs, and balconies. Someone is plotting ...the 'electrification' suddenly goes dark & all is lit from the moon and stars through the skylight... while the music plays on... ✍🍄👁🏺💃🌘 ...🤺⚔🎶
You two make a great Traveling Docent Chatelaine documentary. Your research, script writing, presentation, filming, and editing are impeccable. I didn't like this chateau when you previewed it earlier this week. But your presentation almost immediately changed my mind. A lot of us like different architecture and decor and that is exactly what Emmanuel created here. Thank you for opening my mind.
OMG! It is fantastic!
For me, the stained glass was the star attraction. Wow!
Art Nouveau was such a fantastical period. I love Camilla and Oliver's Modernisme mansion in Spain. But this place, is their mansion times a hundred.
His most personal space, his bathroom, was sublime. I can see why you were in tears.
How wonderful that it is being restored. What a work of art.
As always, thanks for bringing us along.
❤ from TX!
As usual Stefanie's tour is spellbinding.
The home is absolutely gorgeous! It's just my opinion, it appears the owner was chasing immortality. Those windows and doors are stunning! You just don't see that kind of craftsmanship anymore.
The Chateau is remarkable for its creative artistry, bold use of colors and the unusual interpretation through architectural features that tell the story of Laurens' personal obsessions with his unconventional spiritual beliefs. Now if only a distant cousin, as in Laurens' case, would leave me a vast fortune....
Should have travelled there with your friend Ollie - he would love it !
I used to see photos of this chateau when it was a decaying ruin and feel so sad at the devastation of such a magnificent and unique building. When I first heard that it was to undergo a complete restoration I was overjoyed. Thanks for taking us on such a comprehensive tour!
Seeing that bathroom I finally understand why teenage girls would scream, cry and pass out when they saw the Beetles. It's like you get overwhelmed when you see something so beautiful that your heart wants so badly but you know can never be yours. Breathtakingly beautiful.
Those stained glass windows……no words!
Which one? They were outrageous, weren't they? Amazing they have them in one piece (after restoration).
Wouldn't it be nice to know who the artist was that created them? Someone designed and then hand-painted each of those panes before fitting them all together.
@@chemokiki I couldn’t pick one!! Just amazing artistry
@@VisionaryGardener You are so right! Just amazing art
Goodness me when you see the “before” photos you really appreciate the epic amount of work that’s gone into restoring this Chateau which is a work of art. It’s no wonder it’s taken them 20 years to restore it, they’ve done a fantastic job.
Stunning stained glass windows, and doors. Gorgious bathroom, and bedroom. Beautifull Chateau, he was a visionary both in technic and art and decoration. Thank you for showing us Incredible❣️
What a rich history of magnificent works of art! Thanks for sharing ❤
Stephanie I enjoyed this tour so very much and your story telling is so beautiful and you make seeing a home, gardens or any thing very exciting, making your channel entertaining and educational.
The home is absolutely stunning and the apartment was my favorite over all and the bathroom is amazing.
Thank you for all that you share and do Stephanie and Philip. You are wonderful and loved. ❤❤❤
What a spectacular building! Stephanie, your skill at being a tour guide is remarkable. Thank you for showing us this incredible place.
Thank you, Stephanie. What a masterpiece. You're the best tour guide to help us appreciate it.
Thank you Stephanie and Philip, being treated to such a treasure. I admire whomever is behind the the restoration. A true treasure of the imagination.
Stephanie….thank you SO much for the beautiful presentation of this marvelous house. Your talents are many.
Art Nouveau has not been a huge favorite of mine. And after this video, all I want to do is move into that villa and breathe in the Art Nouveau!!!
Thank you again.
Muito Obrigada por compartilhar essa visita a essa casa maravilhosa- uma obra de arte- conosco. Imagino como é estar presente nesses ambientes lindos. 💙💚💛🇧🇷
This entire house is a masterpiece
I think Ollie & Camilla would love to visit this house (if they haven't already done so)! 🥰
Stephanie and Philip, thank you so much for this incredible tour! You two are an excellent guide and a great cameraman!
Wonderful tour thanks for sharing ❤
The stained glass window was jaw-droppingly beautiful!
Absolutely breathtaking. Mindboggling artistry. I mean...the figures over his bath that then turn into wavy reflections on the water, that then travel down to the calla lillies below ON TILE!!!!...and the bath itself!?!?! Goodness gracious. Thank you so much for sharing this with us, Stephanie and Phillip. As someone says below-a masterpiece.
Wow! My appreciation of art nouveau has skyrocketed after this tour and the way you have explained & articulated the castle’s history, beauty & Emanuele’s artistic vision. What a treasure for the nation. Thanks Stephanie and Philip!
What a masterpiece! The colors and creativity are astounding. Wow, wow. What a privilege to see this! Very thankful for the restoration!
Beautifully narrated!
This estate is mind boggling:the beauty ,talent and determination to pull off such a feat.
The artist's room would be perfect in Oliver's house. Each room is theatrical with the themes, colors, and emotional designs. The height of Art Noveau. I use water in all my paintings, so I would love some prints of the water scene in stain glass. ❤ A water run house, heated and cooled. We need to think about ways to naturally run the heating and cooling in our lives.
Emmanuel must have been brilliant!!!
This video reminded me of you and Ollie’s channel “Travels with my Friend”….how come that it’s been awhile that you’ve put out a new video? How is Mr. Ollie doing?😊
very well done tour, Stephanie & Phillip.... your facility in presenting this kind of tour has magnified. I hope this prompts people to visit this beautiful Chateau Laurens.!
💖The only word that I can describe this video is OUTSTANDING ❤. The building just blows your mind. The COLOURS are indescribable magic. EVERYTHING is WILD in an exceptionally beautiful way. The more I watch the more I’m blown away 🤯.
That was brilliant, Stephanie and Phillip, thank you.
Those stain glass windows and walls are magnificent. I’ve never seen anything like them 🌟
Thank you both for taking me with you to such a beautiful chateau. And Lady Stephanie, love how you express yourself in such beautiful storytelling. ❤❤❤
Stephanie, it’s absolutely stunning. I’ve no words, my mind is blown. BOOM!
I have never seen anything like this place. OMG to see it in person some day. Thank you Stephanie for taking the time with the stained glass.
When my grandmother ran out of wallpaper she would say 'just put the wardrobe there' ! I am glad that they restored this palace after so many years of criminel neglect and pillaging. Agde found it embarassing as not 'old' enough to merit classification and too costly to restore and then do what with it ! It's important to keep witness to each period.
This was fascinating. I was thinking the butterfly windows were my favourite, and then you showed his apartment. Absolutely unbelievable. It's incredible to think the creation of this home was generated from the mind of a 21 year old.
I'd watch or attend any tour or historical talk that Stephanie gave. The research is so clear and so graciously, vibrantly, presented. And who would dream that such a house even existed? Thank you!
Wow,😍 this is my dream home, Art Nouveau I'm speechless had no idea that a palace such as this existed. I'm an artist myself been planning to change the interior of my house now I know how. Might take me years but I'm ready for it well I don't need these windows otherwise I stop going out ...lol I'm Kazakh which means all these colorful Turkic and Morocco styles are so close to my heart. We had a lot of hands sewed by my mom & sister's wall art tapestry, hand-woven rugs, colorful rooms painted by my artist brother, and carefully selected paintings, photography, books& items from the travel of my dad. When I couldn't sleep I stared at the tapestry for hours. This tour brought me so much joy and memories.
❤ Always a fun time. Thanks for taking us along.
Thank you for making me, us, aware of this magnificent building. Thanks to the three Eugènes who were the original artists that created the glorious decorations. I finally have something for my bucket list. I find this home almost overwhelmingly gorgeous. I must see this with my own eyes, surrounded by its beauty. Thank you for this video, your descriptions made this complex piece of decorative art real for me ❤
This is a fantasy of “eye candy”!
This place is a masterpiece wow wow wow . Sending love health and happiness from Dubai and thankful for you sharing this magical place ❤
The butterfly doors are my favorite. The bed! I want one something like that. It was like going through a story tale.
This is a very interesting video, Stephanie, you excel in the presentation of these travel videos!!!
Natures patterns are gifts of true art; art nouveau is mesmerizing..repetition, colors and sensual movement in every view.
Anyone else see two peacocks facing each other and touching beaks in the laboratory?
Wow, what an amazing house. You and Philip do so well videoing all these wonderful places. Thank you for taking us along. Bravo👏 👏 👏 .
That’s that neon green that was so popular in the 19th century
This guy was a lucky bastard. It’s always good to see when people have both money and style.
Enjoyed the tour immensely!! Great job, both of you!!!
What a fabulous and fascinating place, Stephanie you should be a presenter on TV.
Simply exquisite beauty married with innovation!!! Thank you so much for sharing a breathtaking part of this world.
Much love from the Midwest US 💖
Thank you for a wonderful tour . The murals are fantastic and the stained glass could rival Tiffany's.
Very diferent, egyptian, bohemian feeling, la de da, Thanks for that tour !! QUEEN, architect
What a magical place built by an extraordinary man with a vision! This was amazing Stephanie. Thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I once lived in an art nouveaux style building in San Francisco called "The Pharaoh," built in 1924. It is my most favorite period in architecture and art. Also, Clare de Lune is much beloved in my home, always happy to hear it.
Just beautiful, so interesting!🌺🌼🌸
Thank you for sharing Chateau Laurens. I look forward in visiting in the future.❤
I know I’m absolutely going to love this video ♥️❤️♥️
I don’t know for sure what was more excellent, the villa itself or Stephanie’s way of taking us with her with the in depth descriptions.
Thank you so much! 🫶💞🫶
I was blown away at this beautiful chateau ……I was also thinking about the horrible withdrawals people went through when they were through smoking opium…yes it was definitely a pleasure palace ….thank you Steph for taking us along on this wonderful adventure!!!
I could cry of excitement and due to the beauty I have just witnessed. What an INCREDIBLE place.
Having said that, the filming is perfectly done, and YOU Stephany are the best narrator ever. You could make people in awe of a building, even if it were to be a slaughterhouse (the worst building I could think of). The editing is sublime as well. Chapeau, both of you! I will persuade my partner to visit this wonderful, magical place.❤❤
The minute you showed the room with the missing paint and said there were cushions and they even had a big curtain that went down in the cushions were all over the floor I knew they were in there smoking opium LOL
That was amazing! Thank you Stephanie and Phillip! Beautifully presented!
This was absolutely fascinating. Stephanie thank you. Who would ever know about this incredible, unique and beautiful chateau if it wasn’t for you taking us there and of course your lovely presentation and listening to Clair du lune .Flights of fancy a perfect description. Philip , “ clearly he couldn’t afford coasters” . Too funny.
Simply stunning❤🎉 the music added another level. Thank you for sharing. Love from Rosie O 🏴 x
What a superb chateau- amazing restoration ❤
What an incredible place. The story and the artwork is breathtaking. All the stainless and tile work is incredible. ❤
That bathroom is amazing. He certainly was a visionary. Thanks so much for the tour🙌😍🤩
Amazing episode, thank you so much for taking us all along!
His desk top, in its life lived state, is like having a personal encounter with him. Glad he didn’t use a coaster. Might just stop using mine, only at my desk. LOL
Your travel blogs are your best work
I love Debussy 🙂
Just stunning, Thank you
OMGGG I love this it feels like Sundays at the Chateau. Stephanie would be a great travel show host.
thank you for sharing.
The tour was amazing, I am in awe of this beautiful building. I travel through your u-tube updates , and tours! ThankYou🇨🇦
That is the most magnificent Art Nouveau chateau I have ever seen, and it reinforces my love of that period. I'm so glad that they have done it up to the way it was. Those windows and the detail everywhere else. There are too many things to mention. Thank you for showing me this place.
Simply incredible. I don't think I have ever seen such majestic stained glass.
Incredible - so much meaning in one place, I wish more building’s were like this
Thank you Stephanie, you are the most enthusiastic tour guide for this splendid home. I feel your love of beauty and artistry. It's where the legacy of your father comes through - there are no limits when it comes to art and expression of beauty. This tour is a gift to us, to Emmanuel and the villa itself.
What a treat🙏💚
Just BEAUTIFUL! Stephanie, you are an outstanding narrator. It’s a huge gift. I’m surprised BBC hasn’t snapped you up for a travel channel. Philip filmed this perfectly! And with the perfect music…Debussy?….this is sublime! Thank you both so much. ❤
Art Nouveau is my favorite style and this chateau is a perfect example. Thanks Stephanie for sharing this with us.
That is staggeringly beautiful and an amazing undertaking. Thank you for taking us on this tour 🙂
Stephanie, Emmanuel had great taste in not only art but life! From your interpretation, I have a similar way of decorating to Emanuel, in excess but all of it makes sense. I am awe-inspired by his inventiveness and his engineering, especially when electricity and "hydro cooling" as I call it wasn't heard of in those regions in 1901. It's such a treat, thank you so much for sharing this stunningly beautiful chateau with us. xx
How spectacularly opulent. Thenk you for the wonderful tour Stephanie xxx
Stephanie should take a leaf out of his book. He had heating in 1901 and Lalande is still not heated.
The inspection has to be finished, and all the ductwork and vents added all over the different wings. Not a DIY project. ❤
What a truly special place! Thank you for taking us, especially to those areas we would not ever get to see! It is so over the top that it is gorgeous.
Stephanie, you remind me of Sister Wendy, the British art historian nun. I truly mean that as a compliment. Your enthusiasm for your subject is contagious.
