The one in Lake Jackson, TX is rather nice, though not a 24/7 eatery. My buddy and I (HVAC tech, with me as Helper for 3 years), would go there about once a month for Old Man Breakfast. Never had a problem with being seated, drinks or service, with reported problems (leaking coffee cup) being sorted quickly. Only thing that takes a while is cashing out, as the line at the register can get long, and that's with all three going.
@@MashedFood it was a preferred choice of ours. The food was good and reasonably priced. We have been very disappointed to see the go. There were 4 of them in our area.
I love Denny's! It's a tradition around here. After a night on the town, you go to Denny's to grab a bite. I've never had a bad meal there and they have great customer service.
I sure do miss those days of Denny's, when coming out of a nightclub or even the movie theater at 2:00 a.m. getting you some hot breakfast and hanging with friends.
Denny's used to be great but it went from friendly service and good food to rude and lazy staff with horrible food. The last time we went to Denny's the place was empty except for one table. Nobody was seen working but they could clearly be heard and they were having a great time. There was plenty of kitchen staff but just standing around. After 45 minutes of being ignored we got up and left. We haven't been back and obviously neither has a lot of people. The parking lot is always empty. They started having the employees park up front so it doesn't look so empty. The only time they seem to do any business is after last call
As a truck driver I have an appreciation for Denny's as they are often located at truck stops. They issue a discount for truckers and when you're away from home, sitting down for a hot meal at a Denny's is not a bad way to spend an evening.
My very first job was at Winchell's Donut at Carson City CA back in 88'. I was 16 going to work at 4 AM to make donuts and muffins then going to school at 10 AM. I saved enough to purchase my very first car a brand new 1990 nissan sentra. The location is still there. I live now in FL but I visited back in 22' to see relatives and nothing much has changed.
The fact that you said they put one in Acapulco to share American Dinner fare around the world is hilarious, lol. That was for Americans vacationing there. The native population more than likely couldn’t afford to eat there. That was the best joke I’ve heard all day, lol.
Denny's is still better than ihop. The pancakes are fluffier, burgers are juicier, and they have bourbon sauce. But of course, I only eat there every once in a while because it comatoses you
I still eat at Dennys here in So Cal. The food quality can vary with location. Their burgers are great, as are the Slams, with reasonable prices. I miss the days when they used to sell whole pies to go, they were pretty good. Some locations are in bad shape, and in need of an upgrade.
@charmainemrtnz, I can't speak to southern Idaho, but I live in the Idaho Panhandle, and eat at the Dennys restaurants in Post Falls and Coeur d Alene regularly. The one in the Spokane Valley did close recently.
I live in California, and we still have Denny's here. I don't eat there, but my good friend does because it is reasonably priced for her and her 2 girls.
Say what you will about the follibles of the Japanese, but if there is one thing that they are consistently is that they are diligent and take pride in their work.
My dad and mom met on Dennys Acapulco he was assistant manager she was waitress, just for the record 1st Dennys out of 🇺🇸 was in Mexico city 2dn in Acapulco I know that because he was trained in Mexico city and then he was send to San Diego California to become a manager after that training they asking to go to Japan back in 1973 to open 1 store there but he didn't accepted it because he had a family at that time, but I can tell you the food was really good love it 😂
I used to landscape and cut the grass at a few Denny's.they always told us we could get free food but after two times we did without.the food was so bad that even being free it was still terrible.
You must have an axe to grind. They must have terminated your lawn service. Was it worse than there food? By the way there food is pricey but it isn’t bad.
Well, I'm sure that the hurdles of swaying people back from the mom and pop establishments might take a while, too. I mean, they, too, have been having their struggles. Most family restaurants nowadays post-COVID have been breakfast and lunch only places, sadly. Who knows whether or not dinner will return to those? Maybe this is where Denny's *might* win out?
The Dennys by my home is falling apart needs serious remodeling, it’s sad cause the food is just well ok not worthy of its price nor increase in recent years, now I do admit they have good desserts the pies are equally as impressive to me like village inns minus the French silk.
Trabajé en los 90 al 2000 la mayoria de la comida se preparaba fresca hoy todo es precocido y los empleados no se sienten orgullosos de lo que hacen como antes resultado=todo mal
The idea that Denny's ought to compete for urban Gen-Zers against restaurants like First Watch is utterly ridiculous. It's not based on any business model of profit and loss, but just upon the notion that the world revolves around California Gen-Z and everyone and everything else is un-cool. Last week we found out how delusional that belief is. This channel needs to take note, because its assumptions are consistently based upon what's normal for Californians. Now, as to the diner model (which Mashed so obviously thinks is un-cool), Denny's is the most effective of any chain in that market. You get far more for your money at Denny's than at Cracker Barrel or I-Hop, where you always walk out still hungry. Denny's charges only slightly more than a sandwich shop like Wawa and you get a full meal. The negative about Denny's is that the service and quality are unreliable whenever the restaurant is busy, especially at Sunday brunch. If there are four things on your plate, one may be good, one may be disappointing, and the other two may be unacceptably bad. Which one is good and which one is bad varies every visit, so it's not a matter of using bad recipes for certain items. However, I never have this problem when I go at lunchtime weekdays. The last time I went I was served a meal in which every item was cooked perfectly; I told the cashier how pleased I was with the preparation and she called out the chef to receive the compliment in person. Thus, Denny's needs to find some better way to manage the chaos of busy times, such as a supervisor who does nothing but maintain quality control.
Love to go out for a sit down meal, but 6 of us to feed and now all eating off the adult menu is too costly anywhere. Sure beats McDonalds, so maybe for birthdays.
How much to feed six grown-ups at home? At Denny’s they provide you with a safe, clean place to eat, do all the cooking to order, provide you with free refills, then clean up after you. They pay the overhead, provide clean toilets, as much clean cutlery and napkins as your group requires, and well-lighted free parking.
What do you think of the food and environment at Denny's?

Bad food and horrible service. The only people that go there anymore are the drunks and party crowd

Ate at a Denny’s 35+ years ago and for some reason got sick. That same location closed about 15 years ago.
🍳 Dennys is not worth the $.
I love it around 3:00 when it showed the price of a Grand Slam breakfast fo $1.99 around 1977 .Today that breakfast cost around $14.00 .
And how much did a gallon of gas or a pack of cigarettes cost in 1977? You could get them both for less than a buck.

I relate Denny’s with after partying and drinking all night! It’s usually quiet and I just want to pass out!

It’s been years since, but I remember going to Denny’s in Edmonton Alberta Canada for breakfast

Most Dennys 🍳 even Mon to Fri day times has 1-3 workers. Orlando FL.....

I stopped cause of dirty plexiglass!! The plexiglass was used during Covid but was possibly never cleaned looked nasty.
It’s because they got rid of the Dagwood
She could have been a spokesperson for IHOP
They have to adapt to the market where the diners are located. If they are at a truck stop and rely heavily on truck drivers, then do so!

The food is terrible. I will never go back to Denny's.
Ohioans go to Bob Evans

Once you start paying for discrimination suits there will never be no end to it😊
It's hard to imagine any basis for those suits, given that 90% of their waitresses are BLACK!
So true, they are very colour oriented,I experienced it in Florida when I went there with my light skin girl friend
So?
@@thelmajohnson4476 Hardly plausible since the staff is 90% Black.
