Gravios definitely damn near filtered me back in the PsP days! I hated fighting him but loved his design, one of the first monsters to force you (or me perhaps) to go and upgrade your weapon to a higher sharpness so you wouldn’t bounce off the belly. So happy they’re bringing back more older monsters, they showed off Congala already haven’t they?

We're probably going to get most of our milage on optimization and multi weapon set building.
The way they film these at IGN makes the game seem so much easier then it will be imo. But my theory is they were given probably top tier HR gear against maybe LR monsters. Also the hunter that does the japanese videos is definitely cracked at this game lol
26:30 You notice how the flames coming out of Gravios doesn't take effect because it's standing in the water. Using the environment will make us better hunters Hunters 😁
I do wonder how fast that stomach break actually is/was. Since its an edited video, I also wonder what the hp of the Gravios is set too. Like you mentioned, it might be set to Low Rank, even if we dont unlock/encounter him til High Rank or higher. And the tail being unctu when they switch to bow means it's more than one hunt put together, so Im holding out hope the big rocky boi will be a much tougher fight come live game
I think when it comes to sizes, one needs to keep in mind the differences in camera angles between games. e.g. Kelbi looks way bigger in Worldborne than in older generation while in reality they are not.
As someone who's been playing since MHFU it brings me so much joy seeing all these returning monsters in such detail! I got spanked pretty hard by kut ku back in the day and even seeing garuga in IB was so cool. I'm glad they aren't writing off 1-2gen monsters in favor for newer monsters from tri onward.
It looks like the hunter starts bouncing with blue sharpness. My guess is that the gear is pretty powerful compared to what we’ll realistically get in the full game, so part breaks will get longer and we will bounce more
I do believe they get special weapons or fully upgraded ones for these videos because they all have white sharpness and also all the same amount (even in the rompopolo and ajarakan videos). I would image you will only have blue sharpness at best when reaching gravios in the story. We saw him bounce off the head at 8:36 with blue sharpness. I wonder if we also bounce off the chest/belly with blue but they only had white when attacking that in the video and ofc broke it
I think the Gravios belly break situation is just a result of Gravios’s actual body now being lower to the ground and easier to hit. Before he stood just like Plesioth or Rathalos which combined with his already massive size required you be a little more precise when attacking, but now the only thing you’re going to hit is his stomach so it makes sense for that to get broken first, especially if you’re focusing on hitting it.
One of Gravios signature is How very tanky he is, even with his belly expose very early we will still be stuck with him longer than most monster. Unless you use Pierce HBG.
I like those DB designs. Looks like sickles. I’m also not worried in the slightest about press footage. I’m sure they’re using armor/weapons far beyond this point in the game. As someone else pointed out, white sharpness is usually not seen much even in high rank. And we don’t know any armor skills they’re using. Could be part breaker to the max.
Honestly i do not care if the game is easy, i just love playing monster hunter because its fun, i love seeing the monsters and the sound and music. There is a part of me that does wish it would be consistently challenging but im ok if it isnt. They can give me the hard stuff in the post-game
Bro wants Elden Ring: Monster Hunter edition. Dude, if you need Gravios to whup your ass just fight him with LR gear and stop wishing this game was impossible to play. Not all of us have the luxury of MonHun being our literal job ffs 🙄
Woukd you say the same thing if they put out a new souls game and every boss was easy too? Monster hunter games have just as much of a reputation for difficulty with the exception of early game world and rise, it's reasonable to want the new one to be hard too.
Not trying to be a smart ass but, all the game play you complained about they had white sharpness. And I guarantee the builds the journals played with are put together for them specifically to hunt the monsters to make it easier for them and to make them look better in the hunts. So I think all the worry you have is unfounded. Can't really judge it just yet, have to wait for the full game an to actually play it to make a final call on whether it's to "easy".
Honestly the only thing i find negative is the stock bear sounds but i have a feeling those may be placeholder sounds, but hot damn his beams are so cool, the fact that the area goes dark for a split second just as the beam shoots is amazing and im very happy he got 2 extra beam attacks and poison. I really wanna see his armor redesign and his hammer.
God I really hope it's placeholder. Basarios sounded perfectly fine in Rise so it's odd Gravios has really oddly placed bear noises. You'd think they'd have enough basarios/gravios content from previous games to give him a solid array of sounds
Minor but major detail. With the bow gameplay about 10:40 . Look how fast you can dodge counter even RIGHT after a whole dragon piercer which typically has a big stagger window but this feels so fluid being able to dodge out of a heavier animation. Which had already been sped up.❤ love this! Faster animation speed with little to no recoil so no end lag. This game is perfect.
For the 20-minute hunt/early belly break. I kind of chalked it up to the gear Capcom gave them for this playthrough is probably either straight overpowered, or better than what you would readily have available at the time of this quest without farming. Also, with the knowledge going in to aim for this area of the monster.
3:52 the sound of his heat beam sounds like dark lightning strikes when a villian is on screen. Alot of old cartoons use it. Even batman tas does it in the intro! Crazy description but seek that out and tell me im wrong!
With the damage that they're putting out compared to the beta? These guys are probably hunting with VERY high rank gear. I can guarantee he wont be this much of a pushover to anyone that isn't geared out. Keep in mind the 20 minute intact belly on a Gravios that is much higher off the ground, with green sharpness? Thats quite a few steps below white.
Here's wishing gravios gives a rock guitar as a hunting horn, classically he hasn't had a HH but world did give jho a HH and basarios rock's design has always been peak. Also the gravios roar is so guttural now, it's very much like an amped version of a gator vocalisations (look em up, a crocodillian roaring is terrifying)
I'm not going to say whether she mispronounced Wyvern or not because thats how Castle Wyvern in Gargoyles is pronounced. IGN released an interview along with this footage, Fujioka explicitly stated Basarios is not in Wilds HOWEVER when asked what the most anticipated returning monster in Wilds that hasn't been revealed yet is Tokuda immediately responded "Lagiacrus"
the bow also looks like it shares the same monster that the switchaxe overview video is from, also i wonder if they dont bounce do to having white sharpness
I think they may have changed the belly break to a single instead of a double part break and have access to late game weapons for the showcase because of the revealed monsters we still don’t know what monster the switch axe showcase weapon or this bow come from but they both have the same style and element.
I get what you mean about difficulty, but dying five times sounds a bit much. Even in Freedom Unite it wasn't that bad, in fact the monster was pretty easy with the right equipment. In my opinion, it's not about failing or even carting, it's about being allowed greed without any meaningful punishment. As long as I play safe and respect the monster, with my hunting experience, I expect to get a first try kill on anything easier than an Elder Dragon, even if it takes 30 minutes. It's only if I go "DPS goes brrr" and get a cartless kill regardless that I'll find it too easy. I wouldn't mind wiping once or twice against Gravios, though. A tough-looking monster should be tough to beat the first few times. Side note: logically, it should be pronounced "why-vern", because a single vowel before a single consonant that is itself before a vowel is usually read as a diphtongue. Example: bile versus bill. To pronounce it "we-vern" you'd write it "wyvvern"... Words like "divine", "diligent" or "limit" shit on that rule like a Congalala on a beehive, but there's probably an exception rule -which has its own exception rule as "iris" has a diphtongue first "i". Also they use "i", not "y".
Ruri, I agree with your pronunciation of Wyvern. I have not been exited for a game in a long time as I am for this one. I agree with you on the temp wound openings too. I see them as a risk vs. reward punish.

@@22bcid63 No, you are just wrong. In the dev interviews when they were showing gameplay in the Scarlett Forest they went over it in detail: they weren't satisfied with the old turf wars that always followed the same script, they didn't like how every turf war had to be programmed in (and thus some monsters had few or no turf wars), and so on. NOW: turf wars can occur between any monster (including large and small monsters), and DO NOT follow a set script (and will change depending on how weakened a monster is). You literally are not going to convince me otherwise when I literally watched devs explain it as they played, and I'm sick of guys trying to act like they know better.

I haven't fought Gravios since the original game. I've been waiting for the return. He's got all 3 cloud types now. Fire, sleep and poison! Did the fire beam start sweeping in U? I don't remember it doing so in the first game. Weapons lose sharpness fast against him if you aren't attacking the soft areas.
Also the comparison to me isn't fair in terms of size as the camera perspective can make a huge diff. We wont know until we hunt a few to see what the size is registered as comapred to GU
The fact that you are looking through Monster Hunter related media is failure number 1 on your part. Also, it is not a spoiler. It's an official showcase.
@@kokujo5288 Nah, my YT bookmark defaults to my subbed channels, I don't really consume any MH related stuff whenever a new release is coming soon-ish (except you consider YT MH related media, then yeah). I understand, but at the end of the day Capcom is taking the world route of trailers for this one so at least an amount of monsters will be spoiled. i do think gravios will make you bounce if you go to when they start useing the bow in the first video you can hear the bounce/ deflect sound when he uses the melee arrow attack
I think the follow-up question when it comes to your comment on difficulty is: What would be your threshold for "that was difficult enough, but I won anyway"? What if it WAS appropriately tough, but you were just on fire in that fight (figuratively, considering this is Monster Hunter), and you beat it anyway? The contention with difficulty I think usually centers around the focus on results, but not the relative difference in input and occasionally good fortune. I'd still consider a boss suitably difficult if it almost beat me even when I was having a really good day. What I hope you get is the ability to decide how strong of a monster you want to hunt, rather than your first target always being set to a specific rank, that way your could aim to always hunt 4s or 5s for your first hunts, and hopefully have that not be too reliant on luck to get such an encounter. :)

He's looking really good! Man, I cannot wait for this game I'm so hyped to take my time exploring every little crevice and inch
Gravios looks fantastic and 20 minute hunt times from players that clearly know what they're doing looks promising.
The way they film these at IGN makes the game seem so much easier then it will be imo. But my theory is they were given probably top tier HR gear against maybe LR monsters. Also the hunter that does the japanese videos is definitely cracked at this game lol
I have a feeling it doesnt deflect because they have white sharpness for the ign build so its easier for them
He will bounce more in the final version
26:30 You notice how the flames coming out of Gravios doesn't take effect because it's standing in the water. Using the environment will make us better hunters Hunters 😁
Possible, but I do remember gravios sending out puffs when they got tired instead of the typical big flames
@ That is very true 🤔
@@novacolin9960He wasnt tired yet though I think. He gets tired afterwards.
I do wonder how fast that stomach break actually is/was. Since its an edited video, I also wonder what the hp of the Gravios is set too. Like you mentioned, it might be set to Low Rank, even if we dont unlock/encounter him til High Rank or higher. And the tail being unctu when they switch to bow means it's more than one hunt put together, so Im holding out hope the big rocky boi will be a much tougher fight come live game
when G level comes out they are for sure gonna add black gravios and that thing scares me.
Yes in GU your first Valstrax fight was a surprise repel encounter at the end of a Gravios in the swamp hunt.
UA-camrs pikachuface When LR/HR hasn't been difficult for the previous 2 generations, and doesn't appear to be that hard for the 6th gen
Have you noticed the techno sounds in the music here too? Sounds really cool, and I swear they've got to be doing that for some reason
I think the Oilwell Basin is an ancient civilization relic with long-forgotten machinery still running somewhere.
@@mechadebzillaThe huge pipes in the artwork basically confirm it
It looks like the hunter starts bouncing with blue sharpness.
White sharpness has traditionally been enough to get through gravios' shell in the previous games I believe
Came to leave a like but not gonna watch this kind of content till I've played through the game. I am looking forward to coming back to these. Cheers.
The monsters in Wilds all look so much bigger than in Sunbreak
I like those DB designs. Looks like sickles.
I’m also not worried in the slightest about press footage. I’m sure they’re using armor/weapons far beyond this point in the game. As someone else pointed out, white sharpness is usually not seen much even in high rank. And we don’t know any armor skills they’re using. Could be part breaker to the max.
Honestly i do not care if the game is easy, i just love playing monster hunter because its fun, i love seeing the monsters and the sound and music. There is a part of me that does wish it would be consistently challenging but im ok if it isnt. They can give me the hard stuff in the post-game
and hunter using strong gear in this
Oh fck no
Yay…gravios. Hopefully his fight isn’t as much of a headache like past iterations! Hopefully he gets the rise kush treatment
@@spilleraaron4748 It was pretty good in 4th gen.
2nd gen was painful though
27:00 might be the sound that the hammer makes when it's supposed to bounce but it has mind's eye
Can't wait to fight this big boi again! He looks amazing, and is going to blast some hunters!
Did you notice that the Ice Bow looks a bit like the Switch Axe whose monster we still don't know?
I love that you implicitely marked the difference in threat between a Great Jagras and a Great Jaggi
Great Jaggi would maul a Great Jagras.
White Sharpness and its give materials with the + , its High Rank Gravios
With the damage that they're putting out compared to the beta? These guys are probably hunting with VERY high rank gear. I can guarantee he wont be this much of a pushover to anyone that isn't geared out. Keep in mind the 20 minute intact belly on a Gravios that is much higher off the ground, with green sharpness? Thats quite a few steps below white.
I'm very much looking forward to wearing its armor all the time because of the neat Gunlance-supportive skills it will probably have.
I know base wilds will only be low and high rank but I would still like a little bit of challenge before the inevitable expansion
Here's wishing gravios gives a rock guitar as a hunting horn, classically he hasn't had a HH but world did give jho a HH and basarios rock's design has always been peak.
Also the gravios roar is so guttural now, it's very much like an amped version of a gator vocalisations (look em up, a crocodillian roaring is terrifying)
why does gravios sound like a bear growling tho lol sounds like the usual bear noise bit you hear in movies and what not
I'm not going to say whether she mispronounced Wyvern or not because thats how Castle Wyvern in Gargoyles is pronounced.
Gravios bounce way too mutch in past game he was like a solid rock.
Im very excited for the one shot attacks in this game
Ruri, I agree with your pronunciation of Wyvern. I have not been exited for a game in a long time as I am for this one. I agree with you on the temp wound openings too. I see them as a risk vs. reward punish.

28:28- *When the gravios is beaten and has tail cut off by the hunter, gets ambushed by rathian, and THEN ajarakan attacks him. Turf Wars are dynamic now, unlike World, and change depending on the states of the monsters.
@@marmyeater Wdym? Turf Wars are still the same as in world and rise/sunbreak. There are vids of Ajarakan and Rompy turf war, same with Doshaguma and Balahra. Unless im misunderstanding your comment.
@@marmyeater Ah my bad, i thought you meant that turf wars were now just the monsters attacking each other like we saw in the video. I misunderstood, you're 100% right.
I feel you on wanting to lose. The feeling I had after losing to Alatreon and Fatalis 20 times and finally killing them was amazing.
The movement speed of the hunter seems really fast so it gives me the impression that Wilde's will be fast paced and aggressive hunts
I like the sound effect of the sword and shield, sounds like a whip or something
Well since Ruri point it out.... 30:30 🤣
I was even doubting myself but was waiting for him to realize his mistake and it was hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
It's ok my man, you gave me a laugh!! 😂
I thought the part breaks seemed reasonable from this chopped up hunt, but I also max Partbreak, and we only saw the highlights, not necessarily the 5-10 other minutes that likely were cut out.
The roar
omg the roar, please tell me this isn't the final roar
in the older game the chest always break fast if you consistently can hit it, pierce pew2 for me
I haven't fought Gravios since the original game. I've been waiting for the return. He's got all 3 cloud types now. Fire, sleep and poison! Did the fire beam start sweeping in U? I don't remember it doing so in the first game.
Weapons lose sharpness fast against him if you aren't attacking the soft areas.
"BAAAAAYLE!" "Igon, you're drunk again. Go home, this isn't your game."
Also the comparison to me isn't fair in terms of size as the camera perspective can make a huge diff. We wont know until we hunt a few to see what the size is registered as comapred to GU
MHGU’s Gravios parts broke pretty fast. Also if I recall I didn’t bounce off of gravios as much as basarios
Even today gravios is one of the hardest fight you get, im very Excited of his Return 🎉
Glad he's back in the game, but I gotta watch out not getting spoiled by the thumbnail here too now, huh?
The fact that you are looking through Monster Hunter related media is failure number 1 on your part. Also, it is not a spoiler. It's an official showcase.
@@kokujo5288 Nah, my YT bookmark defaults to my subbed channels, I don't really consume any MH related stuff whenever a new release is coming soon-ish (except you consider YT MH related media, then yeah).
Well, for me it spoils the excitement you'd experience if you get the info in game that the monster is in, that's what I personally consider a spoiler, but that depends on the individual ofc.
I just felt that Ruri was one of the few creators who is very considerate about that (at least when it comes to showing stuff in thumbnails), but maybe that's just the impression I got over time.
I understand, but at the end of the day Capcom is taking the world route of trailers for this one so at least an amount of monsters will be spoiled.
Your best bet is to turn off notifications from all Monster hunter related channels and social media, other wise it's only a matter of time before you see a spoiler. At least until release day.
I believe ruri made a post addressing this as well stating he will continue to cover the IGN first footage.
i do think gravios will make you bounce if you go to when they start useing the bow in the first video you can hear the bounce/ deflect sound when he uses the melee arrow attack
Gravios, a face I didn't think I would miss!
im trying my hardest not to spoil myself with wilds, just a sneak peak here and there, i got to the "pheeewww" sound and closed the video! so good! may the saphire star give me strenght to resist the beta.
G Rank Hyper Gravios ptsd... KEK I'm hyped!
LOL the ultimate comparison thing had me cracking up
Something you miss is in this gen. it is not about fearing the monster. We are a professional hunter in a land where monsters have never had to worry about humans. We should be terrifying.
You don’t bounce off of gravios unless you have blue sharpness or less, white and and purple never bounce like in GU and 4U, but on his legs and wings and head you can bounce with blue or lower
The roar is literally the bear roar from DayZ lol
Does the billy break matter ? Felt like u can ignore it and go wild... kimda hope the final result the monster arnt this easy looking
For whatever reason i thought this was the stone looking monster from sunbreak but I had to remember that was basarios that was in sunbreak. He looks super cool and I can't wait to fight him but I do have a question.. is basarios and gravios in the same family of monster? They look very similar to me
Yes. Basarios is the baby form of gravios
I just genuinely hope Gravios is a prelude to Akantor showing up, I miss that pissed off bastard
I'm pretty sure if there's gravios, there will also be an akantor. Those two are meant to fight each other every time they meet. Can't wait to see an actual turf war between these two
@@theadmiral4157 im glad you agree, as Gravios is a healthy source of food for Akantor that big bastard has gotta be trailing behind especially if its a healthy community of Gravios and Basarios
Im glad older monsters are coming back, since ive never played the older games
If this is all from oilwell basin, man the area is beautifully laid out and environmental variety too
26:01 man just whipped out his rod in the heat of battle like a chad😂
