Did this yesterday. It was super cool and I was nervous about all the yelling. The selling and barn part were certainly the best. I was picked on and called a stupid ugly cow. I was certainly recommend it to others. My only note would be I wish they had let us wander off on are own a bit, and I almost wish it was MORE intense.
I've done it twice. The first time I was called a stupid ugly cow, sooo. They don't insult your looks really. But they do insult your "baby hands" if you say you work in the field, or the way you answer your questions. I went in November again, and this time I lied and they figured that out, so then all four guys stood around me in a circle and called me stupid and yelled at me for lying to them. It was tooootally awesome, though. I'm going again in April :)
I wouldn't think so. There are always new people, so they have to figure out different things to say to them. When I went the second time, they said different things than they did the first time, and some of the people were different.
This is the kind of historical interpretation I like to see! Only an interactive experience like this can truly transport and educate participants as to the realities of slavery and other historical events. I wish programs like this were more common, as I think many people would be far more enlightened when it comes to topics like racial discrimination and religious hatred if they experienced the plight of the victims this way. Of course this can't even approximate the realities of slavery, but it comes as close as it needs to in order to educate participants.
I remember in 8th grade I was called a wench by a white “actor”. For context I’m a light skinned black woman if you don’t know the history of that word look it up, absolutely disgusting place that allows undercover racists to express their hate.

I know that is another slavery interactive program in Ohio is there any other places that's has a slave interactive problem?
Are the black children treated like this also, or just the white kids
Everyone is treated this way....even adults. You are asked to pretend you are an actor in a play as the runaway slave

This is so pathetic... are they also going to re-enact the turner rebellion?
So you want the participants to be massacred and brutally suppressed?? That was the result of “Turners rebellion”.
