I've been playing it for 36 hours and I can't stop I love it

To this day, SEGA acknowledges their old-school IP like Space Channel 5, Jet Set Radio, and more, in special cameo appearances throughout their games. However, it seems like SEGA’s main focus is entirely on Sonic, Phantasy Star Online, Persona, and Yakuza these days. It’s so strange, but I can only describe it as a lack of development resources that has forced the shift to take place. It is so great to see games like Splatoon, Sunset Overdrive, and Bomb Rush Cyberfunk recapture the creative spirit of Jet Set Radio, and it goes to show how SEGA’s Dreamcast era is still holding strong in people’s minds today.
They only own Persona, it's published and developed by Atlus, I don't think they have that much say into whether Atlus makes more Persona or SMT, it's a more internal thing as far as I'm aware.
But I do agree with you, Sega seems to only make Sonic and Yakuza. Dunno about PSO because in the West it's hard to come by even today imo
Most Splatoon players are kids and teens, so the vast majority of them probably doesn't even know what the Dreamcast is lol
Not a lot people know there is Space Channet 5 VR and it's a shame that Chu Chu Rocket Universe is delisted since leaving Apple Arcade. I hope it gets a relaunch.
@@Mene0They own Atlus as a whole ever since they bought them. They stated that they allow them to create whatever they want. They have the power change them if they want but gave them the complete freedom to create what they want.
Don't forget creative assembly.. even if that's getting a bit shaky.
One of the artists they tapped for the soundtrack is 2-Mello, who's albums Sounds of Tokyo-to and Sounds of Tokyo-to Future are huge love letters to JSR/JSRF

This game is so fun. Sega is letting their lunch get eaten by not announcing a New Jet Set game ASAP.
I think one of the original jsr developers said they themselves are too old to do a new jet set justice with how street culture is nowadays.
Real question is where the heck is Hollow Knight Silksong? That game was on the cover of Edge magazine 3 years ago looking like it was complete!!
Sega had so many unique IPs which were beloved, but it surprises me that they've almost ignored all of them and focused on (mostly) really crappy Sonic concepts. This is a good example of someone almost "stealing" one of the IP concepts and giving us a new game... which should have been done years and years ago.
If this game sells a million or more it and the success of Hi Fi Rush could convince Sega to announce a new Jet Set Radio. Megacorps know just like us some of their discontinued products would be a hit if they brought them back, they're just so risk aversive that they want recent sales data to "prove" it.

Those concerned about 60fps on switch don't need to worry. I've been playing this game on integrated graphics (intel hd 630 running on single channel 4gb ddr4 2133) and 60 fps is possible by disabling antialiasing and turning shadows to low. I also chose a 4:3 resolution, but I don't think aspect ratio itself might make a huge difference. If I wanna turn graphics up, I lock it to 30 at anywhere between 720p and 900p. I still have AA disabled, but it's a pretty much locked 30fps with shadows in ultra. I think the switch has a better gpu, but I don't know for sure.
CPU might be a little more concerning, but it still doesn't push my i3 7100 very hard. Even at 60 fps I never saw usage go beyond 50 or 60%, most of the time being less than 40%. And at 30 fps it barely goes over 20%. This is of course on a 6 year old dual core low-ish end processor. The switch doesn't have a very strong CPU, but I'm pretty sure it'll hold up well enough.
On the stutter side, not a single one. GTA 5 lags and stutters a lot on my pc. It's not that great. However, this game doesn't stutter at all. The only times it did in my case were in the middle of a video call with several browser tabs open. Under normal conditions it's buttery smooth.
I'm confident 60 fps is possible on switch. Let's just hope it happens.
@@VilifiedOne I wonder if it's a cpu or gpu bottleneck. Maybe they used antialiasing. That really kills GPUs.

I've put it on the back burner because of BG3 but I've been hype for this game for years.
JSRF was the first game I beat and loved. I hope I just can't get enuf of BRC.
Shrug. It's fine.
I missed it, and I will continue to do so.
