I can't agree more about Happy Place!! I ADORED that book. The angst was perfect and I devoured it. I haven't read Funny Story but it's up soon on my TBR!
Loooooveeed Happy Place!!!! It was very different from all romance books, seeing a couple in their later years instead of the first burst of passion. I was obessed. Also my favorite Emily Henry.
Yeah I feel like the miscommunication trope in happy place made sense for their story and personalities so even though it was frustrating it worked for me
I feel like the miscommunication trope gets a bad rap but it can be done really well! It’s like the difference between “this miscommunication only exists to add drama and could have been easily avoided” versus “this miscommunication says something important about our characters and is addressed in a meaningful way as the characters grow and change”
I totally feel the same about the Riyeria revelations. Like Sullivan woke up one day and was like, hey, I'm going to write some fantasy books. And he did. And it's wonderful. Everything I want
Regan, you need more shelf space. please act haha! I see books everywhere around! New bookshelves to organize and put all your sci-fi collection on a different section!
Happy Place is my favorite Emily Henry book as well! I absolutely devoured it--starting it at 6:30PM one evening and stayed up reading until I finished it at almost 3AM that next morning--and felt so much emotional catharsis in it. My Emily Henry bibliography ranking: Happy Place > Book Lovers > Funny Story > Beach Read > People We Meet on Vacation
I recently read powerless and yours truly recently and they’ve been 5 stars for me.I read happy place a couple of months ago,it was my first Emily Henry’s book and I loved it I gave it a 4.25 ⭐️ but for some reason I didn’t pick anything up from her again but you’re vlog made me prioritize reading more of her books.
Hoping to start Murderbot Diaries and Suneater Series really soon. Also the Michael Sullivan books sound really interesting. May have to check these out. Also have the new trad publish of Blood Over Bright Haven on pre-order so I can't wait to read it!
I really want to read Blood Over Bright Haven but it is only sold on Kindle right now. Apparently there is a hardcover coming out later this year which I'm excited for but also wish I could read it now without a Kindle.😪
I need to read Blood Over Bright Haven but it's so hard to get a physical copy since it's apparently going to be traditionally published, so they took it off Amazon until OCTOBER. I cry.
Here's what I read Steelstriker by marie lu How to end a love story by yulin kaung A very private school by Charles Spencer memoir Murtagh by Christopher paolini Interview with the vampire by Anne rice City of fire by don Winslow The green mile by Stephen king Binding 13 by chloe Walsh It happened one summer by tessa bailey
People are divided by happy place, but I already had my problems with book lovers. The new book seems intriguing to me, but I don't know if I should give henry another chance, since I dislike her most popular one
like the other person said, I didn’t rly care much for book lovers either LOL (my faves were happy place and beach read!!) so whenever ur in the mood for a fleshed-out romance, I’d read all the synopses and choose a book to give her one last chance !
I've also read book lovers first and while I liked it, I didn't love it or see it as something special. But I Loved happy place, I'm pretty sure it is gonna be one of my favorite books of the year and one of my all time favorites. So I'm glad I gave the other books a chance, I'm also currently reading funny story and I'm enjoying it alot. Obviously that is not gonna be the same for everyone but just offering my opinion
I've just picked up Empire of Silence, but after 40% of the book the only thing that still makes me keep reading is all the praise of the later novels. I don't know, maybe it's the fantasy element that irks me or maybe it's the feeling that the book should've been shorter. Or perhaps it's the main character, whose only distinct characteristic is his lack of impulse control, otherwise he might as well be a cardboard cutout of a person with no redeeming qualities. Also if you drink every time he calls someone he meets 'plebeian' you'll probably die of liver failure before the book is over and save yourself the trouble of finishing it. Oh, and the world so far is basically Dune with serial numbers filed off: noble houses I can take, family atomics as well I guess, but the prohibition of technology and a caste of sort of scientists/analysts serving as human computers too?! Not sure how this is even legal tbh.
Looking forward to your review of North Woods! Saw on Instagram that you were reading it. Each new video that you put out I hope to get your opinion. Hopefully soon🤞🤞🤞
I love hearing people talk about how they loved everything I hated Happy Place for 😂😂
ahaha I really feel like its love it or hate it!!
I too hated Happy Place.

My attention span hasn't been great either so I'm a little bit behind in my reading goal, but I'm trying not to focus too much on it.

For what it’s worth, I’ve read every EH book and book lovers is by far my least favorite. Like, the only one I didn’t even enjoy. 😬
