Beautiful work. If this was an Olympic sport you would win the gold medal.
Even your thermal paste application is beyond reproach.
Oh my God you actually machine a new part for the board. That is next level.
WOW first time I have seen memory sockets replaced on a motherboard, awesome work.
Thank you very much!
I was wondering if you fixed motherboards and this video just answered that, lol
This is wild, I hope you charged about a million for this repair. I did learn some things! I had no idea that SMT memory sockets could be replaced like this. Absolutely bonkers repair. Good job, thanks!
Nah it was like 60 bucks plus parts
@@northwestrepair you sometimes said “I am cheap” in other videos, I guess it is true 😂
@@northwestrepair lol what? gonna send u my board too dude
@@northwestrepair I feel like you are too kind with your repair cost 😭. I mean it's good for consumers but still
@@northwestrepair Bro start charging a little more, just a little thats less than a locksmith
4:32 thank you for showing the picture of you
People keep asking.
I had to throw something there 😅
@@northwestrepair may be it's time for face cam
Superb repair. Got me wondering if the board was a scrapped item before this customer picked it up and needed a repair to flip it. Its condition and them unaware it needed ECC are quite peculiar.
Exactly what happened
@@northwestrepair That explains the damage. I wondered who would accidentally break a memory bank (can happen, fair enough) and decide to keep doing what they did to break it to destroy a half dozen.

God level patience and dexterity. Awesome job
Great to see a high end Supermicro board come back to life.
I've purchased several lower end Supermicro boards myself and couldn't believe that someone would mistreat these workhorses so badly. I certainly treat mine with kid gloves.
Wow!! You are a very talented and patient guy. I've watched a bunch of your videos and enjoyed them all but this one takes the cake. I'm amazed you were able to repair it.
Just found your channel - what a gem! Outstanding work, Sir.
I love to watch your patience and wisdom. Thank you 🌹
That board looks huge!, great job as always 👍
that's what she said
Great vid and work as always , thank you keep up the amazing work !
Enjoyed watching you work.
Stella work there mate that was a massive job to get those memory slots back on without melting them 10/10.
Great job, I learn a little something every time.
Great work, I had no idea you could solder the DIMM slots in like that!
I wish I was this cool. Enjoy watching these videos
The amount of knowledge you have is nuts
As usual a great video. You went above my paygrade just after you sat the MB on the table ... :) @0:14 Thanks for the ride along.
5:42 this form factor isnt too new anymore but the size is quite uncommon on most of the consumer boards but not on server boards. this is a 22mm x110mm M.2 slot, supports all shorter drive lengths: 80mm, 60mm, 42mm and 30mm but on this specific board, only 80mm and 60mm are supported
god tier repair, man I can only imagine the patience to resolder those ram slots, a job I'll never do XD
Nice job.
And i have get one of those preheaters. Hate to sit on the board for 10 mins to get it soldering temp.
impressive work man
Much appreciated!
I dont skip every adds of your video you deserve it more. ❤❤
Impressive work
Crazy good work! Kinda makes a me want to buy a video card just to send it to you so it can be a heck of a lot better!!
That uncovered socket is scary... Great job
I was literally gonna write the same, it's nerve-wrecking to watch all kinds of stuff done to the board with the socket not covered. :)
Jeez, what is that huge processor? Great job as always
Looks like an Intel Xeon Bronze 3204 (low end Xeon CPU) was used for testing, but the socket supports some higher end Xeon models too.
Great work another board saved from the e-waste bin. Bravo thanks for saving our landfills.
EPIC Repair
U are awesome nice work sir
Ah yahs, server equipment. Bring more of these server parts for repair, they are all so interesting and diverse aside from the mainstream home gaming parts.
Why you don't have a million subscribers is a mystery for me, i've watched a load of your videos and you are a magician with a soldering iron (I also am a subscriber). I've yet to see Northridge Fix reball a memory module or a GPU 😉
Good video! Thankyou
Thank you too!
LETS GOOOO 20K SUBS congrats NWR!
Thanks!!
nice job, what is the overhead camera you are using? the zoom is nice, or is there even a better camera than yours?
Its some clkind of canon like handycam
Ram slot desoldering and replacement is also doable? We keep witnessing miracles in this channel!
Good job. i would hate to change ram slots with hot air station tho. Cant be sure each one of pins soldered properly, they will work until someone pull the ram out..
I have this board now. I hope its reliability is ok. No problems so far
professional
Been learning to solder any pointers? you are a master at solder wish i was :)
Good work. Your labor will be worth twice this much soon.
,i like your videos and one more thing,i personally don't care if you are ugly or pretty,we don't chose that, professionally great job
dude knows how to handle those miner board slats😸
Pimpin Ain't Eazy
The board itself isn't terribly expensive in the scheme of things but what goes on it is- CPUs which can cost upwards of US$4000 each and memory which can cost almost as much.
👍👍
yay! you're doing mobos now
No not really
@@northwestrepair oh I see, I actually learned a lot from your vids. Not to bash other UA-camrs but most of the "repair" videos I see are things I already know based on experience. Thanks for your informative content.
Have you done any replacement of through hole RAM slots? That would be interesting video. ECC memory is actually cheaper usually.
No.
It would be harder to remove but easier to put back
@@northwestrepair Yes, I had a motherboard that had bad RAM slots, with couple damaged pins inside the slots, that's why those RAM slots didn't work. I never tried to remove, because it can take a lot of heat.
@@mikegaming4924Apply low temp solder to each pin and remove with a heat gun
your a rock star.........I just can believe you pull these repairs off.. they seem impossible for a human to do. EDIT.. and no I dont know what you mean
👍
Dealing with servers. It's usually RAM errors that start first with age. I'd replace the ram & same errors.
4:32 hahaha that's a good one.
hey boddy, greetings from all the brazilians technician ! Could you please tell us later what is your settings on the heater ? I don't know the exactly name in english, the one that blows hot air XD
I just watched a fix or flop episode recently by the youtuber Greg Salazar and it turned out to be a problem with the motherboard. One of the heatsink mounting holes looked like a trace or 2 was shorted. You could've probably saved that board if he sent it to you. Near the end of the video he shows a close up of the motherboard and you can see damage to the traces
He doesn't have the tools or the time to fix that kind of damage, so he just ordered a new board for the customer. He also doesn't charge since he earns money off of youtube
How? Did they install RAM with a hammer?
how you can broken dim slots ?! hard for me to understand, even for an kid is very hard to do so, goot did not wripped the slots from the motherboard with the board connections
5:20 you could also just spread the paste manually like on a normal sized cpu
Spread is the worst method especially for cpu
@@northwestrepair nope it works very well
what is the ohms value of the chipset?
Didn't measure.
ShOcK & AWE once again. Replacing the RAM sockets is up there with landing on the moon, IMHO. Cheers!
if you could boost the mic's volume a bit it would be awesome!
Hmmm, I looked at the peeks it looked ok. Not sure.
Yeah, had to bring my phone closer.
Where did you find replacement memory module slots?
ebay
aliexpress
1:35 whenever I try to do that myself, the iron brings all the solders with it and nothing on the pads lol.
how do they break this stuff???
Hi, I have a h11dsi-nt, a dual epyc server motherboard and it stopped working all of a sudden, now when I power it on the fans start spinning but nothing on display, there is a green light that blinks after about 3 seconds , I de seated both cpus removed ram and ssd changed another power supply but nothing works what should be the issue here, thanks
Did you learn your skills by yourself? You really love your job, it is obvious.
Yes.
Actually this is not my job.
@@northwestrepair What do you do as your regular job, build space ships and time portals? Jokes aside my guess is electrical engineer
I think it will be melt, but not. How?
4:12 m i missing something, why you didnt conect two burned pads ?
if you look closer you will see that those ends are ground and they do make their way around.
🙂👍
I missed what exactly caused the burn out. Could it happen again? Pretty wild.
I don't know. Owner bought this from Amazon auction of some sort.
Tedious!
Wait, so was the problem wrong memory all along as you stated memory type was incorrect at end of video, this repair wasnt even necessary?
Yeah. None of the damaged slots needed to be replaced and shorted capacitors could be left alone.
Sarcasm.
Ouch
is it just me worrying about cpu socket without protective cover?
Looks like splitting preheating station by half wasn't so smart idea...
I thought ECC or Error Correction code is a CPU feature
Hello. I don't understand why gaming motherboards look so ugly with so many decorative covers? Won't that block the heat? Regular older motherboards look nicer like the ASUS Sabertooth 990FX
You have to work damn hard to damage a supermicro board like that.
oof
considering the labout cost, you must be losing alot of money on these types of repairs.
don't want to be that guy but its *expensive* not expencive.
Spelt SERVER wrong
Lol 🤣
Old keyboard. Not as nice as yours
@@northwestrepair You need to get one its heaven to type on, its an IBM Model M its 30 years old and is like new to this day
Big motgerboard
I think you should show more of yourself, and not as little as on last 2080Ti video.
Why. What's the point.
