Apologies for the sound quality. Thought I'd post an incredibly emotional moment from the finale livestream. A longer ep edit will be up once it's done - unfortunately the sound isn't great but I'll do the best I can!
Thanks for being with me for this ride, people. It's been wonderful to experience this utterly stunning show for the first time.

This time I did catch the live stream. Like I said then everyone knew you weren't going to be able to watch just the 1st episode. You said you were going to watch "The Pacific" in the future, here is some NON spoiler advice, lower your expectations. BoB is so good everything else will fall short by comparison. If you take my advice then "The Pacific" will be a good ride too. See ya 'round

Thanks for coming! I will certainly be watching The Pacific. Don't worry - I've heard quite a bit of non-spoilery negativity about the show so either it'll meet or exceed my expectations. If anything, I'm interested purely to see more about the Pacific theatre of the war cause I know almost nothing!

Juliette Reacts it was hard for me to watch the entire series because after they all went throw hell and survived until the end of the war in 1945 your always relive the moment like your back fighting the enemy again in your sleep I highly recommend you watch The Pacific it was also a great series the war against the empire of Japan

Respectfully disagree. I would say alter your expectations. Too many people went into The Pacific expecting Band of Brothers 2, which it most certainly is not. The Pacific is as good, if not better than Band of Brothers in certain aspects. I emphasize CERTAIN aspects. I for one actually enjoyed The Pacific far more with a second viewing without any pre-conceived notions and it was a far more powerful experience. However, it is a much more disjointed series due to the island hopping campaign, and also the fact that no single unit took place in all the historically "popular" battles much like Easy company had the (mis)fortune of from a storytelling perspective.

I could remember watching this scene when it aired. It was only a couple of months after the 9/11 attacks and I was an NYPD "homicide" detective. All NYers nerves were still very raw. I was watching this with my beautiful wife & was biting my lip so I didn't cry in front of her. But dammit I couldn't keep it in and I got very emotional hearing those incredible men talk. Thanks for posting Juliette. It was actually a great memory.

JR When 9/11 happened I’d already completed several tours in Northern Ireland and had been in the Kosovo War following which I’d undertake a program of treatment for PTSD. On 9/11 itself I was running the ranges taking a group of recruits through weapons training and live firing. Having seen the news, I got them together, let them know what had happened and told them the world would never be the same again.
Part of the counselling I got included watching a two part British made drama called ‘Warriors’, which coincidentally also stars Damian Lewis as a British Army Officer.
Like you, this program had me in tears, for all the right reasons. Like you, I was a detective, a senior detective in the Army. Emotions are healthy and crying is normal. I still do on the occasions I remember colleagues and brothers (in arms) no longer with us.
Respect to you for the job you did. Never feel ashamed for having feelings.

My uncle was in the 101st, made it as far as Bastogne, took 3 rounds from an MG42 in the chest, laid in the snow 2 days before they found him. The cold weather saved him, he passed away in 1985. My father flew P-51 Mustangs in the 357th in England got shot down twice, made it back to his bunk before dark both times. He passed away in 1997. My other uncle flew F4U Corsairs in the Pacific he was lost at sea after a ground support Mission on Iwo Jima in 1945, MIA to this day. I stumbled on to your work today, THANK YOU!! ;)

Juliette, I am a member of the University of Texas Longhorn Alumni Band, and we have been chosen as the main ceremonial band for the 75th anniversary of the Normandy invasion. We will be playing the national anthem of all the countries involved in the Normandy invasion. It is a great honor to be part of this anniversary. One of our members is 92 year old Mel Kusin who plays the baritone. He was part of Patton's Third Army and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

Grandfather landed on the Normandy beaches, he served in Europe throughout the war. I was born into an Army family, my Dad served almost 40 years. I did 9 years myself. The telling of Easy company's story is epic, accurate, and like many others have no doubt commented, the interviews of the guys completely finished me off the first time I watched this, and every time since. Might not be evident to all, but there are things you don't talk about, not to anyone, even those that were there with you. You learn to talk over and around certain events or details, no good can come from talking about everything you saw or did, and it's there in their voices and how they say what they do. There's also the wisdom and perspective of having relived those moments over and over again, thousands of times, trying to make sense of it all, in the years since. One of the most profound quotes I've come across is this: 'It's not that I can and others can't, its that I did and others didn't.'

Juliette, thanks again for sharing this journey with us. My father was a Marine in S Pacific in WWII, my stepfather in the Army fought his way from D-Day to Berchtesgarden; my oldest brother was in the Navy and ran a gunboat on the Mekong River in the '60s. I grew up watching Hollywood's depictions of "The United States at War", but always knew it wasn't right, somehow - because the men in those movies didn't really match what I saw in real life. BoB is brilliant in that way; it strove to show us that the men who fought, who fight, are really just guys, trying to stay alive. It strove to show us that war isn't about pretty stories with neatly-tied-off endings, that random bullshit happened to good people just because they happened to be in the wrong foxhole at the wrong time. It strove to show us that even "that company of heroes" had its dark members, and dark times. The amount of love and respect the filmmakers, the crew, the actors, had for their source material and real-life counterparts is inspiring all by itself.
Watching this through your eyes made me realize all over again, how right they got...everything. Good art should make us think, and feel - I think this series certainly qualifies. Thanks again for your thoughts, and your tears, and for letting us come along for the ride.

      R Etset
You certainly nailed it. Each actor would become friends with the hero he would portray. I remember a story where Donne Walburg called Carlwood Lipton and spoke with him before a scene and Mr. Lipton told him “ we wouldn’t have done this “ and Donnie took that back to the producers and they corrected the script. The actor that portrayed Buck Compton actually became very good friends with Buck and treated him like a 2nd father.
Before production started Tom Hanks and Spielberg gathered everyone and spoke to them. Paraphrasing, they told them that this isn’t just a project, this is probably the most important work they would ever do and all of the actors took it to heart. And it shows. I’ve seen David Schwimmer’s many projects but his portray of Captain Sobel was nothing less than brilliant. I hated Sobel and that was because Schwimmer’s portray of him was perfect. It isn’t easy for an actor to create that kind of a response.

Juliette, I mentioned this before but worth repeating. Your truth shows up during your views of one of the best Shows ever created. I wish more people would be willing to share their heart. Your openness speaks volumns and u love it. I understand this show is not for everyone, as too much realism bothers some. If this wasn't true, my wife would have watched it by now. The realistic accounting is a bit too much for some, but thank you, Jules, for posting your true emotions. Loved it! JB

I discovered this last week, and have watched your entire Band of Brothers Reaction series. It is brilliant. Band of Brothers is my favourite tv show of all time, and as a teacher I use clips from both this episode and Day of Days as they are so brilliantly shot, and the tone and feelings are wonderful teaching tools.
I have loved watching you react to it, for you bring out the emotion of the episodes, and I feel as if I was re-watching them again for the first time.
I always tear up in the final scene of this episodes, and I knew I will tear up doubly so in watching it with you. The goodbyes and the after the war stuff. Then finding out whom is whom of the vets. Wow.
Thank you very much for this. Its been an honour. I truly enjoyed this journey with you, and look forward to travelling 'The Pacific' with you as well.

My reaction exactly. Life is precious. and this series so perfectly embodies all of it ----its most treacherous events that humanity endures, but also, and more importantly, the most meaningful: Friendship, respect, sacrifice, a sense of duty for a greater good, perspective, enlightenment, the longing to love one another and learn from these events in history so we don't repeat these things. This series should be shown in every high-school history class. We owe so much to that fine generation.

I never cried watching this (God knows how many times I’ve watched it) but watching your reactions to things I’d never even thought about brought a few tears to the eyes.
As a former British Soldier I can remember seeing this in 2001 when I was going through basic training, and the whole thing brought the realism of war home.
Since 2015 I have been doing research into BOB/Easy company and some of the stories they couldn’t tell, missed out or mistold are very interesting.
Books by Dick Winters & Donald Malarky about their experience give a much more in-depth view of what happened.
The series only used 25 main characters, where as in real life 120ish people were in Easy company at anyone time, they had to condense the stories down.

I watched that series when it came out in 2000. I bought the box set when it came available. I've probably seen this scene a dozen times or more since 2000 and I got choked up each and every time, including this time now. I think that the only way that could be improved on this show is if they could figure out a way to add the smell of rotting bodies, the smell of gun powder, body oder because it has been a month since your last bath and the decibels that a actual artillery shell creates when it explodes as well as the concussion that would blow you 20 feet.
Best damn chronicle of a combat team ever!
I appreciate the fact that this had a impact on you. Thank you ! That means more to me than all of the "Thank you for your service." remarks that I hear.

The "old gentlemen", are the actual men, and their lives during WWII, the movie portrayed. BoB is a documentary presented as an action movie. Nearly every moment shown, is a repeat of actual events these men saw and experienced.

Yeah, when I saw this I knew it was based on the events, and extremely accurate to them, but watching the veterans in each of the episodes I figured they were just soldiers who were part of the 101st. When it got to the ending here, and I saw they were some of the actual people being portrayed in the series, it really hit home.

It is among my all-time favorite shows and it’s always wonderful to witness newcomers to the show, even after all these years. I love your videos.

I've had the pleasure of knowing many of the actors and family members of the real men and lucky enough to count them very much as friends. They would be honoured that even so far on from the original filming that people are still learning about these men and getting as emotionally connected as you do.

I've seen this tv show more times than I can remember, what a masterpiece.
Yes this TV show makes you cry, there was a few parts that were emotional to watch and one of the ones for me was when Richard Winters received his Oak Leaves from Nixon, as Winters opens the box, he's so humble and he is a real hero.

I hope you learned that freedom comes with a heavy cost...my grandfather served on the USS INDIANAPOLIS, had it not been for a single photograph of him in uniform I'd have never known. I had other uncles and cousins who served in Korea and Vietnam. Myself I served 23 years in US Marines, from Beirut, Panama, Desert Storm, Somalia and Afghanistan, retiring in 2005 after being wounded. Like them, not a day goes by that I don't think about the men I served with and pray for them and their families. There are really no winners and no losers in war, only survivors...and every survivor is a casualty, sometimes you just can't see all of the scars...

The series BOB was a very educational one but let us not forget this series was about Easy Company. There were hundreds if not a few thousand other companies from all branches of the military that fought in that terrible war as well and they all deserve to be recognized. What a horrible shame that we are loosing thousands of WWII and Korean War Vets daily and before long there will be none so whenever we see a Vet lets show and tell them how much their sacrifices are appreciated. GOD BLESS ALL VETS.

What kills me, and it is not fair, is to think of all the men who died like lieutenant Meehan and his stick, killed before even reaching their intended landing zone. They had no chance to be remembered for any exploits on the battlefield, like their rest. 😠😪

Oh god, I was crying watching you crying. The part with Winters quoting Mike Rainey always gets me too. On the Airborne Dday monument in Normandy that depicts Winters likeness (which Ive seen in person) , there is a quote under which has always inspired me and I think sums up who Winters was as a man. "Wars do not make men great, but they do bring out greatness is good men". It made me weep when I read it. I brought my trombone with me and played the band of brothers theme by the memorial later that day after everyone had mostly cleared out. Men like this come around very seldom in history, let alone during the 20th century.

I just discovered your reaction videos and let me tell you, that final sequnce in the series the THE most powerful and emotional thing that to this day I still cannot watch this without tearing up. The heart and soul put into the production of this series does so much justice and honor to those men that I have yet to see another series or movie match it.

HI Juliette, I watched BoB years ago when it came out, I frequently watch episodes still from it. I recently commented to you about how my father and mother served in WW2 in the navy. Watching you go through this makes me proud of you that you took the time to see and experience what they went through. I recommend you watch Hacksaw Ridge, the true and very accurate movie of Desmond Doss who won the medal of honor for his life saving as a medic in the pacific war against the Japanese. He wouldn't carry a gun, but he went in to save lives and many men were saved because of his incredible actions and faith in God to protect him. I wish you the very best in life. - Dan

Juliette, you are truly a Lovely person. There many people from that time (Like easy Company) that can say they made a difference, and have backed up by documents and memories. Off the top of my head, Look up Sir Peter Gretton and his training of the Fortilla that Escorted ONS 5. The battle that changed to course of the Battle for the atlantic. There is a Book out Called "Black May" a very insightful look into that time and the People who were there.

My favorite was when you see the the interviewed veterans named revealed. Really shows you that these guys did get to enjoy what was left of their lives. Lives free of war and horror, finally peace and prosperity. I know not many are still with us in 2019, but these men will always remain in my heart for the laughs, tears of both joy and sorrow that their incredible story has brought me. This series will always remain as the greatest media representation of the Second World War and their story shall forever live on as we journeyed with them through their war.

Great series. I worked with men like this on the Post Office in the early 80's who had been at war. One I knew who had fought with the British Paratroopers at Arnhem I was on a split shift with and when a Bridge Too Far was on at the cinema nearby, I asked him if he wanted to go see it with me, to which he replied, "no thanks lad, I saw it live".

Their story will live on in history, in memories, and the stories that was passed down. As of late last year there is now less than 10 of the original 101st airborne Easy Company soldiers still alive today. Not only that just any WWII veteran. The ones that are still alive are in their 80s-90s. That is why very time I see a veteran mainly the older veterans I thank them for their service. War is never a good thing but I am deeply grateful for the men and women who fight for our freedom. To any army soldiers and veterans that sees my comment I am deeply thankful for your service and I salute you.

I am so gland that a Young person like yourself ( a "Yout" Lol) can appreciate the "Courage & Valour" it took for these boys from across America that became Men, and helped win WWll.
They were the Greatest Generation and we will sadly Never see a unity in America like that again !!! Just look at today !
My Father served in the Patton's 3rd Army, Infantry he made it and lived to 2003' and died at 79'. My war in the Gulf in Iraq that year, as a Marine and our forces took Baghdad and we one at that point (please no trolls on that !) I got to call him weeks later and he watched it all on TV, and he was relieved I was safe !! : )
We still had lots to do in Iraq and I would get back to the States for another 3+ months...
My Dad died two weeks after we talked on the phone, but he was happy for me/us etc, I never got to see him again but he saw our Victory at that time. : )
Big Hugs out to you Juliette !! our a Sweetheart and thank you for your emotions !!!

I watched this series with my 2 sons. My father was a paratrooper, and I was an Airborne qualified Marine. My oldest became a Marine. I wanted them to know what freedom costs. I am glad that you watched the series, and I am happy that it moved you.
Watch Generation Kill, lose 40 lbs, and join the Marine Corps. In the 1960s and 1970s, vets, Marines, and soldiers were despised and spit on.. I still feel awkward when someone says, "Thank you for your service ". The Korean and VietNam veterans never received that!
If you really are moved, walk through a VA hospital. Work with Wounded Warriors. Talk to those vets. Learn their stories.
