Honestly the Margrave brings up a good point about necromancy not necessarily needing death magic, after all we have seen the Drust use life magic for its necromancy for a couple of expansions now.
@@LeystTV Come to think of it in hindsight, weren't there also cases of fel necromancy as well? Like there was Felmyst in the Sunwell raid as well as random sketal fel mobs in Legion and WoD zones.

I played a lot of Shadowlands but somehow missed this patch, I'm glad I saw this as I always wondered about Undercity. Always considered it my characters home (as one of the Forsaken) hope they do something with it.
Seems more like Calia isn't a light made undead, she is a resurrected person who is controlled by the light. Sure, her heart doesn't beat, but that's just to complete the costume so she is more relatable to the Forsaken.
I'm all for Calia. The forsaken have been genetic and very samey since wc3. While orcs, humans, tauren and dwarves went different leaders, giving them different outlooks. Forsaken though have been the same, genetic 'token bad guy' race. Maybe if they had someone like Calia giving some alternative outlook I might find the forsaken interesting

The lick of shadowlands is right remember guldan use fel power to rise death knights in the second war and kelthuzar I suspect in the beginning used arcane power to raise death until he met lick king because he was in dalaran making experiments and raising death but he was a mage still and he got kick out and after it he find the lick king

It implies every school of magic can create undead when in the original lore it was Shadow with Necrolytes, Fel, and Death with Necromancers that was originally misconstrued as arcane magic by the Kirin Tor. Calia is a weird exception to the rule where, despite having the power of Alonsus Faol, Anduin Wrynn, and a Naaru, she was made undead instead of resurrected, but the Light has never once worked well with the Undead beyond her. I'll be honest in saying it takes the uniqueness out of Death magic if every school can perform the same rituals with different magic empowering it.
