I was born one rainy morning in a little house across town Daddy liked to roam leave Mama alone She just couldn't tie him down He liked his gambling and whiskey And mama just liked to cook and sew It made me a man before my time I felt many a cold wind blow Worked real hard most all of my life Bought a farmhouse out in the sticks Set by the fire most every night Working on my guitar licks Before too long I was on my way Playing from town to town I guess I'm a little like Daddy was Gotta keep on moving around This journey takes me far away from home Sometimes it makes me feel so alone So alone Now I look back on yesterday Wondering what I'd done Did I help somebody along the way Or did I just look out for number one I know I can't change a thing So don't put me down Cause I didn't cling to your heart Oh I feel like dying when we're apart This journey takes me far away from home With nothing left to hold on to But a voice from the telephone It's taken me away from every love I've ever known Sometimes it makes me feel so alone So alone
I love these guys just like my daddy did we would rock out to this on the weekends with a bottle of jack man what I wouldn't give to have one more night R.I.P Anthony Gresham you are missed more everyday love your baby girl Brat..
@@dtcdtc8328 Yep ,I was watching them in concert the one where Danny is wearing the red T shirt thinking damn that guy is spectacular. That was Bruce then but I think this is Shawn?
I saw Molly Hatchet in concert at The House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, SC in 1997 or maybe early 1998 I saw Lynyrd Skynyrd at a separate show during the same time frame at the same venue. I am really glad I got to see these two legendary southern rock bands live.
This is the type of song that you have to listen to all the way through to make a decision on thumbs up or down. My guess is they tuned out too soon -- song gets better as it goes on and really starts rocking the second half.
I love all types of music. Metal. Rock. Rap. Top 40. Almost everything!! This song right here is one of the tops of all time. That ending guitar solo - what a masterpiece!! 🤘🏻
“The Journey” has been a real bee-itch thus far into my travels! These men are 5:09 all dead and buried! 😢 I am 66 plus tax and am plumb worn out from a life of burning the candle at both ends!! 😮 These men have had several iterations of the band and have lost at least 3 lead vocalists and countless guitarists! 😢. And I am waiting for my turn to “rock out” of here!😅

He's not trying to imitate DJB - he just naturally sounds a lot like Danny. And thank the gods - the new Molly needed a new Danny after DJB had to quit due to health issues.
One of the best songs ever. If the solo hasn't got you playing air guitar, you're not normal.
I thought I was the only one who keeps thinking that same thing .
I ain't braggin , but this song has got my ass a waggin lol
@@amazinggrace5503 me to at 78 and still rocking just a English fan

I was born one rainy morning in a little house across town
Daddy liked to roam leave Mama alone
She just couldn't tie him down
He liked his gambling and whiskey
And mama just liked to cook and sew
It made me a man before my time
I felt many a cold wind blow
Worked real hard most all of my life
Bought a farmhouse out in the sticks
Set by the fire most every night
Working on my guitar licks
Before too long I was on my way
Playing from town to town
I guess I'm a little like Daddy was
Gotta keep on moving around
This journey takes me far away from home
Sometimes it makes me feel so alone
So alone
Now I look back on yesterday
Wondering what I'd done
Did I help somebody along the way
Or did I just look out for number one
I know I can't change a thing
So don't put me down
Cause I didn't cling to your heart
Oh I feel like dying when we're apart
This journey takes me far away from home
With nothing left to hold on to
But a voice from the telephone
It's taken me away from every love I've ever known
Sometimes it makes me feel so alone
So alone

The ending of this song can even make an old man feel like dancing. MR. GUITAR 👍
Masterpiece.

One of my favorite songs in rock history...
One of my favourites Molly Hatchet ❤
The one person that put a thumbs down must not have had it loud enough,or maybe they should go back to their rap crap
Candy Brooks Most likely one of those "hater" types, "This is actually pretty good" *thumbs down* I think it's a sign of an endowment issue. 🤔
This is the type of song that you have to listen to all the way through to make a decision on thumbs up or down. My guess is they tuned out too soon -- song gets better as it goes on and really starts rocking the second half.
It sounds great with earbuds 👍

if you can repeat: "a guitar has six strings and this six strings stings" as fast as you can....then you are welcome.
SUBLIME!!!
I'm sixty one an remember an yes I'm playing air guitar
Was that Free Bird>?
Very Freebirdish - but still a nice rockin' number
@@inkblack6256 Every southern rock band has their Free Bird. Molly has Fall Of The Peacemakers and this, Blackfoot has Highway song
I'm 58 their not Danny Joe Brown and the rest of that great band but their alright
Ridiculous because the singer is trying to imitate Danny Joe Brown .
He's not trying to imitate DJB - he just naturally sounds a lot like Danny. And thank the gods - the new Molly needed a new Danny after DJB had to quit due to health issues.
