Its great to view your latest video Princess. WHat I like about u is the maturity and objectiveness of your personal opinions. Naiorbi and Abuja is literally contrasts rather than comparisons. Nairobi is over 150 years old while Abuja - as you put it is slightly above 30 years old. Thus, Abuja should definitely be much better designed that Nairobi. Nairobi has a blend of old and new - while Abuja is brand new. The section of Nairobi that is congested is Down Town / Old Town which has been in existence for over a century. As you go North and Westwards, the congestion eases, there are also less beggers.
Regarding drainage problems, you are rightly shocked. Its true that something needs to be done to improve this situation. We are happy to note from you that Abuja does not expression. flooding owing - i think - to good drainage networks. If concerted efforts are put in place, Nairobis drrainage could be improved thro redesigns of the civil works as well as groundwater recharge systems
Kwani Nairobi or Kenya has sunk this low as she's putting?? Ama it depends on wherever she's shooting her movie from.?? Anyway with the current regime in Kenya anything can be possible.GOD have Mercy on our beautiful Country 🇰🇪and Restore our Sanity
OTC used to be our CBD, We grew up and CBD moved to "Commercial area or Accra road" We have now grown and our CBD is slowly moving to Upper Hill area. ..Muthurwa is the designated area for hawkers and matatus but it is too far and not convenient for both traders and customers. About painting the outside of building, 🤣🤣🤣 forget that one ooo a Kenyan would rather build another building with the change meant for beautifying concrete.
That JKIA airport incident MUST BE REPORTED. The fact that he helped you after scaring him about reporting to the authorities. I'm glad you gave a honest verdict. There were no Bodaboda/public transport in Uptown CBD. You forgot Konza City
@Princess Sarabee, personally what annoys me the most is the unorganized, chaotic public transport system 🤔 The motor bike riders have no respect for traffic rules, they cut through traffic, pass over pedestrian walkways, it's chaotic. And to think, ten years ago or there about we didn't have many motor bikes in the city, waah! Then the matatus, same script🤦🏽♀️If only the laid down traffic rules were followed accordingly, the Nairobi city would be abit peaceful. I've watched videos on cities in Europe which have been in existence for over hundred years and they are so organized and clean. Hope something will be done about it soon.
Very rational comparison all that you saw in CBD if you move to upper hill there are no hawker, matatu, bajaj or bodabodas visit the area and come do another review.Good job.

New subscriber here. I have lived in Nairobi most of my life and as a Kenyan I agree with you 100%, we need a neat capital, Abuja is cool and clean, Nairobi is doing good in Skyscrapers but on ground things are a bit dirty and that is what we Kenyans have been crying about. Currently, I live in a third city of Kenya called Kisumu, a small (Lakeside) city but clean, well paved pathways, well organized. businesswise its not doing well but resembles Abuja in some way. you can consider visiting if you are still in Kenya
Princess you're spot on as regards your assessment and contrasts . Nairobi is tired. The bosses need to think of urban renewal.I hope sometimes they have a spy listening to these little gossips which essentially the local citizens are part of the problem. Hawking, dirty, noisy, bodas, kiosks etc.but all used for political Kenyan leaders need to wake up and shake their heads out of stupor.
Hope you are safe, the ongoing rains in KE are exposing how our systems are not working. We want the criticisms here so that we can improve. That JKIA is a mess rn
We have 2 more cities: Kisumu and Mombasa. You need to visit these first before asking for another city. Kisumu is basically like Abuja .simple, well organized ,clean etc. On the other hand because of the county devolution system, it's an opportunity to grow all areas of Kenya, besides the 3 major administrative cities. Which in the long run, is the real and stable development.
Why???? Wacha ushamba na ujinga what is so unique about Tatu and Konza??? Travel my friend and expose yourself then you will realize those 2 cities are nothing
Some of the owners are so cheap and don’t want to pay architects full amount and design proper apartments. There are several buildings on Kiambu road where nobody want to live cuz the apartments have been designed so bad…. Small rooms
we moved from Mombasa to Nairobi,we now have Konza city,Tatu city and many oth.er special economic zones, and for your information you cant stop floods,it also happened in Dubai.
Abuja is the 2nd largest city in Africa after lagos. Nairobi comes 11th by size. Apartments and sky scrapers conserve space, No wonder we are converting our stand alone homes into apartments all over the city plus its a more modern way of living in the city.
Those countries that moved the cities is because they wanted them to be in the heart of the country. Nairobi is in the central regions of Kenya and cannot be moved. The best thing to do is to come up with strategies to mechanize it
We are designing the Konza technocity 🌆 and for Nairobi drainage it's due to blockage of drainage systems because of nylon and that's why they need to be totally banned
What you didn't tell us is that Lagos was so chaotic and unplanned that a new capital city had to be created that was better organised. Kudos Abuja for beating Nairobi in the organisation. Nairobi can definitely do better.
My mother-in-law lives in modakeke Osun state a year ago they broke into my mother-in-law's house and beat my wife they stole everything from her I am from Mexico and my wife is from Texas and my mother-in-law is Nigeria
Those high rise apartments are a new phenomenon in Kenya. The authorities started changing rules in the late eighties to allow for high rise apartment buildings that have ruined the Nairobi look. Owners of these ugly buildings assume that their neighbors are going to build equivalent structures that will in turn cover and hide the sides of their structures that don't have a pretty finish. That is why they only paint the front. If you travel upcountry, you will see that Kenya is not developed at all. All the development and jobs are in Nairobi, and that has turned the city into a magnet for people looking for economic opportunity. Kenya does not need housing like the president seems to think. Kenya needs to spread development and wealth to the rural areas so that people can work and live where they come from. Over 60% of the people in Nairobi live in slums, yet they have homes upcountry. Government needs to encourage entrepreneurs and developers to move into rural space rather than add more apartment concrete in the city. All that housing, drainage, beggars and boda boda problem will go away if the government forces new development upcountry instead of in Nairobi. The population of the city will drop by over 60%.
Nowhere in Nairobi you'll come across unpainted houses where rich people live unless the building materials the likes of stones are meant or designed to be seen. You'll only see unpainted houses where the poor middle class resides like Kibira, kawangware, umoja, Kangemi etc. Therefore, I don't know why you are trying to compare the real estates in Abuja vs poor middle class houses in Kenya? There are no high rise buildings in Makoko but they're in Kibira. This comparison is not fair. In your next comparison do Abuja real estate vs Nairobi real estate so that we can see whether they look unpainted. Not Kawangware or Kibira please.
I see that you are really trying to be fair and charitable to Nairobi but the truth is that our standards have really fallen. From the surface, Abuja is more organized, well planned and sustainable going forward though I have to research further. Nigeria is usually beaten by the disorganized stick of Lagos but I think a few of your other cities are quite good e.g. Abuja, Akwa Ibom and Calabar. Nairobi should be well ahead but political chicanery and one of the communities that lives around the city and which holds lots of political power likes to thrive in the chaos caused by matatus, bodaboda, loud booming music cassette shops, cart pushers, mutura sellers, hawkers, slum landlording, poorly built tenant houses and so on. This chaos has inspired everyone from the shitholes around especially Somalia, Burundi and DRC to invade the city to hawk or beg especially Tanzanians for the latter. It's hard to fix the problem now. It's too far gone and the malaise is spreading fast into the organised old money areas. The country's deputy president defended the chaos causers heavily when the governer tried to do something about it. The governor has resorted to do nothing apart from eating bribes and siphoning money instead. That is what they all do.
We all know those changes you talk of should be done in Nairobi but it’ll never happen. The biggest stumbling block is the community that surrounds Nairobi, they thrive on the chaos and grey area. Try banning the matatus and see how that goes for you.
I no hide anything oh 😃 everything shared on my channel is based on my experience. No country is perfect....even developed countries has it's challenges. For an old City,Nairobi has done so well for itself and I still love it here anytime/anyday.
