  • About 50 minutes of the 3rd Super Test. West Indies won the first two matches, the third and final game was played at Football Park in Adelaide over New Year 1977. Ian Chappell made a ton, as did Bruce Laird and the great Viv Richards in the second. Highlights of the first three days, sadly very little of Viv's innings, all the wickets though.......sadly not a lot of SuperTest 2.......otherwise I'd put it up...

Bruce Laird never managed a ton in an official test match. The one he scored here against a strong WIndies attack shows what a very good player he was.

It's time the runs and wickets in these games were officially recognised.

Geez, Greg Chappell was a magnificent batsman.

Looks bizarre to see this played in a stadium that was virtually empty. The crowds stayed away at first out of some kind of loyalty to the 'establishment'. The Packer rebels were seen as traitors at first but by the end of the summer they were playing in front of decent crowds, the next summer everybody and his brother were queueing up and reaching into their pockets to pay cash money for tickets.

These should count as official tests. It was real and hard testing of bowling and batting. Interesting that the averages of Lillee Chappells and both Richards were on par with official test averages

Interesting Australian team for the big Super Test. Couldn't even field a full strength team. Lots of holes and absences in the line up. No wonder things magically reconciled in the end.

Could King and Albert Padmore - did they bowl anything besides half volleys and full tosses... Why on Earth are they in that team.. they look like they just didn't belong on that team.

    I was there.

It was a shame that Rob Langer never got a crack at official test cricket. He averaged around 46 in his 1st Class career. I always thought he looked a very tidy player.

Super tests were the greatest cricket ever played on the planet ....... and why it is so highly regarded because there has never been an era in which so much high quality players compete in the same arena at any given time in the game .

A rare win v Windies in WSC first season. The Chappell era saw the birth of modern cricket. All these years later, this needs to be acknowledged. Great upload, show more if it's available. 1975/6 preceding this was Lillee & Thomson blow the Windies out of the water, hence every Test team always looking for the fastest in their backyard.

Thanks mate, for posting the videos of supertests as this is pure gold, as there was not much coverage during the Kerry Packer series. If you could post more of the supertests, that would be great.
